The hat is way to bright (along with the mixing, its decent but could be better). A way to fix this may not even be eq, but rather if its in a sampler bring the hat down a couple semitones. Also, in the master, you should really look in to some mid/side processing it could help. And to back up Format, he doesn't mean make the mix flat (that would be dumb ur right) he means he is listening to this song on a flat EQ device to hear all frequencies evenly and judge rightly between what is good and not. But besides that beautiful, and that sub tho wow good job!
I do listen on flat EQ devices, I have some Linear Phase 8812's which are old but still gold. Very even and flat response from them even till this day. My headphones are Vu HPC-8000's, which I do know have a bit of a crispier sound due to a boost from 4k+ frequencies, BUT otherwise are very solid headphones for mixing. Wouldn't take alot to get a great mix using this equipment. I think its more preference, I do like my hihats loud because like I said previously, they hold the groove of this beat most of the time due to the lack of percussion. This was more of a personal choice, not a mixing mistake. However I am glad you loved the sub, lol. I really love giving my low end lots of power, ever since I was in middle school making dubstep sub frequencies always interested me the most. As for mastering, I don't put my all into it as the producer because I know some engineer that an artist is working with is gonna master the track with vocals anyways so I just throw on some gain reduction, EQ, multiband, and then some of that sweet sausage fattener, LOL. Thank you for the feedback, I will be trying to dial back those hats for the listeners ears in the future.
Banging track bro..love that heavy bass sound..damn near blew my coffee cup over..Listening thru a couple pair of different monitors...headphones, and avatones..I don't hear anything wrong with the high hats..I'am not a pro but, sounds good to me..nice work.
Like I had said, its all preference. I personally like mine loud and present because it keeps the rhythm and I don't use a lot of percussion to keep the groove in this beat. My mixing mirrors a lot of Drake songs because that's the style I go for. Loud Hihats FTW! lol glad you enjoyed.
Don't mean to spam ProdByFetti, I have pro studio gear with state of the art flat response software and I'm getting bright highs. Just putting my honest opinion out there to help artists like I've been helped. Otherwise great work. Best regards ~ 4M@
I understand and appreciate it, but the brighter highs are a preference thing for me. I don't like my mix sounding super flat because then when you lay a vocal over it occupies so much of the high end, ESPECIALLY with how modern vocals are mixed as I previously said to another comment. I'd rather give an engineer a sort of bright mix that can easily be pushed back by a basic eq then a mix that the engineer has to throw a multiband on and squash to get the high end to come out past the vocal. Thats all personal taste and my style. I encourage you to try it out for yourself. Glad you enjoyed the listen.
Sounds nice, I since a lack of complete harmony in the mix though, its probably mostly due to the mixing environment and the translation on different playback media. There are a few ways to fix this; professional acoustic room treatment that creates a flat response or certain plugins that mimic this concept. Nice work overall.
I assure you there is plenty of harmony in this mix. Lots of counter melodies and chord progressions all working together in this, the beat was mixed on flat monitor speakers AND headphones. Maybe its the device you listened on? Unsure but there's nothing I can do on my end to fix that issue. Thanks for the feedback though.

Well, I can. I do give away free beats and loops, and have for years. NOW I also decided to set up a store on a different site that I will happily advertise on this site. It's no different then someone advertising that they also have a youtube page where they showcase beats and tutorials and get paid for people watching their video. I am advertising my instrumentals that I would like to be paid for while also giving back to the community. I don't see the problem, and do not have any plans to change what I am doing.
Pretty laid back track, with one big difference and that is the subbass that puts some real heat in it. I think some rap storytelling would fit nicely. It definetly deserves some good vocals. Well done!
