Hey, this is pretty sweet! I'm getting vibes of some cool eighties/nineties groups from this, such as social distortion or rancid, both of whom I like to listen to. Do you have ideas for a lyrical theme which you wish to portray? Very fun and cool song! I enjoyed it!
I do have some lyrics but I'm not married to them .The first lines come in straight away, " do you believe that nothing really matters , do you believe in thought control?" So I was thinking a big brother/ distractions kinda theme. I'm quite happy to rearrange the music if need be.
This was entertaining which is the whole point.
Works great.
This sounds nothing like Frank Zappa.
Nothing remotely like Frank Zappa yet it reminded me of Frank Zappa!
Maybe I've had to much medication ....
no weird really....and doesn`t sound like prune juice Deathbot....noted you said you were mixing on something other than quality speakers or phones...well, I`ve been mixing since tape days and I don`t think I could do any better with cans...I do think that the low end is missing..a nice fat bass line would bump it up nicely..but must say it sounds pretty good to me....keep on...Ed
whatever your concerns I was not distracted by mixing issues at all. your use of vocal clips is brilliant. you have a great sense of humor in your music. i like the contrast between the upbeat music and all the angry cursing! nice work.
Thanks for taking the time to listen.
I'm always after feed back on my mixes simply because I don't own a high quality set of head phones or speakers.
So I somewhat rely on the feed back you kind people give.
I really do not think it is musically out of line. It is a very enjoyable type of vocal shotted musical driveby. The drums and meldoy are sticking in your ear and the vox are well put into the mix. Im not a master in mixing but for me there were no things really out of shape. I liked it very much. Thanks for sharing.
"I was inspired by those crazy guitar solo's fueled by intense feedback that you only get at live gigs"
This source of inspiration makes sense to me.
I've used dirty, distorted synths in place of guitar in loads of tracks. Sometimes alongside guitar, sometimes not.
Anyway, this has a pretty cool, dirty vibe. Not quite sure where to take it except to suggest that you develop more riffs so that you can extend it by at least a couple of minutes.
Mix sounds pretty decent though maybe one of those synths shouldn't be panned so far to the left. This just sounds like a sketch, as I think you know, so keep going with it, throw some more ideas at it and I think you might end up with a pretty cool, full track.
Hi again DB!
This is kind of a crazy piece of music - great bass guitar (or is it a guitar?) and I actually loved the outro from 2:18 and to the end! You should evolve that part with that heavy bass. Funny lyrics!
I think I downloaded all of alividlife's drum loops, think I just listened to this one the other day. I use ez drummer, easy and real drums as well. The main riff reminds me of Turning Japanese by the Vapors.
Lots of energy. Needs some bad ass bass now and some vox with attitude. So far so good as a starting point, look forward to hearing it finished!
Pretty cool track, it has a cool edgy sound to it, a bit industrial and rock with some electronic elements to it. I would suggest putting some more volume on the final mix, I did crank it up though. I like it, mix sounds decent. Big deep bass, yup, like that! Not too sure about the clapping and vocal parts but the music rocks. Reminds me of Fatboyslim and the Chemical Bros. style of music, electronic rock.
Hi DB hope all is well;)
I'm still learning too and although i understand the physics of sound i still struggle to get a good mix mainly because the room where i produce is NOT acoustically treated so i cannot hear the sound accurately.
To get a accurate mix and mastering you will need at least a pair of Studio Monitors and an acoustically treated room which can be done quite cheaply See Here : http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/dec09/articles/beginnersacoustics.htm
Without these two elements it's hard to get a good mix.
However if you don't have them the best you can do is listen to your mix in as many different speakers/headphones as possible and make notes of the problems you might find and then is a question of compromise and test what works best.
Also compare it to commercial music of the same kind just so you have an idea of what's good and whats not.
I like it especially the guitar, the tune is different and very original.
I do Agree with asidRn's review though.
Another thing i noticed is that the track lacks clarity and sounds muddy at times, better mixing and mastering would quickly sort it out.
Let me know if you do make changes as i would like to hear it.

Yep I think this one will only evolve through trail and error.
Cheers

I totally agree with your comments. I'm a novice at mixing so any tips would be appreciated.

Hello
It is a great track; wired, peculiar, interesting.
Very balanced with a mad ending.
Well done
