Great choice of piano chords and melody, the transition at 0:57 is pretty smooth.

And I heard that you're working on the build-up drums which is nice, I like how you reverse the lead at 1:37.

Though the intro needs more ambiances wildlife sfx or maybe a chatter would help a lot to fill some gaps.

And the leads are quite loud turn it down a bit.

The idea is there but the problem is the vocals does not sync, don't get me wrong I like the vocals a lot but you need to fit it with your tracks bpm.

on Still searching Melodic Dubstep track by Gojkovicdavid
I can see that on every upload you're improving.

It's more cleaner now than before, piano is fine now and I don't hear unwanted frequencies, great use of rainstorm ambiance on the background, also the plucks at 0:22 is mesmerizing.

The drop is close to becoming perfect, just layer the synths with a sidechained white noise, it will gives more body on the highs in the drop.

And now I think you need to change your build-up drums a bit coz all of the tracks I've heard from you got a same build-up drums make a variety, maybe put a percussions.

Also I noticed that you don't have a hi-hats and crashes just add some hat loops it will make your drums better.

That's all keep it up and just enjoy what you're doing.

A creative track you did here.

The intro transition are all on point, vocal chops give so much atmosphere in the track which is nice.

The anime samples are all good and you did a good job on that one, I like the predrop panning at 0:55/1:00 it gives more of a kinda exciting feels to the drop.

My suggestion here is:

At 1:45 is lacking a downlifter and ambiances which leads to empty spaces maybe add a subtle pads, also not a fan of the snare but it's optional that's only my opinion.

Good job on this you nailed the intro just right, now it's more sounding like Illenium, I like the entry of the pads at 0:26 it's uplifting.

My opinion now is:

Have a uplifter or just a mini riser for the transition on the build-up at 0:45 and remove the pads and the guitar at the build-up so it doesn't sound repetitive, and start introducing the vocal chops and the drop synth by automating it (filter it out).

And also the drop is lacking synths and the bass is overpowering it, just tweak it down a bit.

Lastly the mix I'm hearing unwanted frequencies cut some lows.

Old dubstep indeed with those reversed snares and screechy lead at the intro.

Brostep is such a great genre for me, I just hate how dubstep scene is now going through, same 1'2 riddim pattern almost on every track with a sustain mid bass in the background smh.

Anyways nice track this gives me a nostalgia.

I do agree with you, allthough i like that dubstep is heavier now in someways or i guess that is subjective.
Glad you liked it ^^

Another thing, you can put a high pitch vocal chop on the drop.

And more mid basses to give the drop a solid punch, don't forget to pan some elements in the drop.

on Dont Do It by Kronaz
The transitions you've made are all good specially on the build-up, maybe put more risers, I kinda like the switch on the second drop.

The drop drums are loud though and it drowns the bass, you can also put an arp or maybe a skank on the drop to add more grooviness.
Kronaz
Kronaz replied 23rd Aug 2020 - 5 years ago
Oh, ok. I'm sort of new and know nothing about mixing, but I'll try to put what you said about the drums being too loud to work. Yeah, thanks for the feedback!

on Never Feel by xmyrby
Very emotional piano, filtered drums is also a good fit, I like how you just stay with a slow beat and not overdoing it.

Ambiances are all on point, but some parts of the piano has a thick signals that cause a distorted sounds for example at 3:15.

You're actually improving ngl, atmosphere is amazing, same with the piano in the intro kinda brings more emotional vibe.

But illenium is quite guitar base (not piano) i guess, anyway keep it up.

on No Hope by E2Eofficial
This kinda reminds me of a 2012 UKF Dubstep tracks specially on that filter in intro.

The melodies you pick are nice, I like this screech lead at 1:36.

I would say that you need to pitch bend some elements on the build-up so it doesn't sounds muddy, that's all great track tho.

Intro sounds great but it's a bit loud and this needs a sidechain coz you can't barely hear the drums but I like it when the synths kick in at 0:13

The predrop is also good that leads into a nice transition on the drop.

Orchestral is the the most needed element in deathstep and you nailed it right, build-up need some more percussions and risers, drop is fine but for me it needs more distortion but that's for me tho.

I like the piano melody at 0:56 and the predrop on the second drop sounds good.

on Dirtyphonics - No Mercy - MegaTone Remix by MegaTone
The atmospheric intro is great and the transitions in the build-up are on point props, on the vocal samples too, I like the snare a lot, by the way did disciple drop a stem on this?
MegaTone
MegaTone replied 2nd Aug 2020 - 5 years ago
Glad you enjoyed it!

They released a massive pack of stems for the competition a little over a month ago (or two months? I lose track of time easily). I think it had the stems for like 10 different tracks by various artists on the roster. Unfortunately if you're interested the competition ended earlier today, but they might still have the stems up for DL if you look around a bit.

:) Emo-tion = Emos (blood) + action.
Emotions are the actions of blood.

Our souls, try to communicate to us with emotions.
Sometimes it's just feeling's question. :)

Strange times, the last times, for all on this planet.
We need to stop to consume to much the nature and planet itself. :)

Rain help to wash negative feelings. :P

I've listened to this now with earphones and I notice that the levels of the effects are okay, it's just the synths are muddy, and in my own opinion the snare is a bit loud maybe lower it a db.

The intro pads is uplifting, I like the melody @2:08, but in my opinion the hats are a bit loud, and the first drop is kinda empty but I like what you did at the second drop though.

Drops is lacking low end bass, and other elements in the drop ruining the mix, you can fix that by lowering the effects so that the drop would stand out more but to be honest the overall song is good just work a bit with the mix.
sqrtofneg1
sqrtofneg1 replied 29th Jul 2020 - 5 years ago
Thanks for your feedback! I purposefully lowered the bass because I felt most of them are too overpowering, but I understand what you mean!

Which effects do you think are overpowering?

Thanks for listening!

Great use of distortion on the vocals, I've heard this acapella before and I knew that you've put a lot of effort processing this result, catchy drop but the drums is kinda weak, layering more kicks and snares would help.
