Wow it felt like I was actually there! the concept also made me think about the fact that soldiers are fighting for the innocent lives back home, but they sometimes indirectly and unintentionally hurt the innocent lives in other countries. This is a great first attempt!

Salute to ya --Ha! See what I did there?

You can't feel the Blood & Mud or the Shrapnel as it passes through
your arm and leg...
But you've got the sounds down, to as close to real as you can be
without being there...

But if these Dummies don't, straiten up and fly right this will be
just a lullaby, compared to what will come...Seek and ye shall find...

Let the Politicians fight the wars on the front line, you'd see how
fact that crap would end...

Outstandingly done....

PEACE>>>>TG.

Thanks soundhound! Yeah, I agree: put the politicians on the front lines and war would be drastically different lol. :P

Very interesting.
Sounds like it's waiting for a tv spot ... a docu spot I think.
You should promote this toward that end ... BBC or SKY or or or or .... if you do let me know how you set about it.
Gotta be a saleable work of art this one.

Hey, great to hear that's your vocal.

You should put that in the track description.

I already know that you can sing but now I hear that you're into doing this sort of vocal, you should really go to town on it and build more similar vocals up to something bigger and better. Record a load of layered harmonies and make a very beautiful track. And try not to make it pop music though you can do that too, if you like (maybe on a different track).

I think perhaps the greatest example of what I'm talking about would have to be 10CC's all-time classic I'm Not In Love. Extremely time-consuming vocal production back in the day when doing these things was a lot harder. Read up on how they made that track as it's pretty damn interesting.

Just in case you don't know the song:

That's actually a GREAT idea :P I was thinking about it when I was bouncing it to MP3 and you've convinced me to do it :P And that was an interesting read :P very neat read too! The vocals are cool lol!

Hello EpicRecord

This is someting like cool music for an intro, a sequence, or a storypart for a 3D game.
Reminds me a little on this dark sequences in Max Pain

This music in the background. From the off a male voice tells the sad story and the video shows a dark painted comic strip.

I think you done it realy well.

stay tuned

Great work. Uses sounds and music to really bring the listener into the sound stage. Really like those complex and emotionally charged piano parts.

Just a couple tricks I use, vlc media player can be used to rip the audio from video. I only use public domain videos because of copyright. Then I'll cut up the audio in pieces I want for voice samples or whatever. I make a lot of sound/voice samples myself because sometimes you simply can't find what you want. Keep an open mind when looking for sounds, it's amazing what can be used to represent what you want. Poor quality can often be fixed (like noise removal, ect.), not always, but... Also these are ADDICTIVE!! :D Keep up the great work ER :D

BradoSanz replied 6th Apr 2015 - 10 years ago
Yeah, the stuff I use is free and is good for non-commercial use (I don't plan on making any money off this stuff haha. And yeah, for the distant talking vocals in the soundscape part, I had to to do it cuz I couldn't find any samples with people talking like that haha. I'm just talking jibberish, but you can't tell cuz it blends with everything else :P

Soldierly greetings.

Damn, it's a refreshing change to hear you do something other than pop music. I was expecting it to break into that any moment. But, no you kept it deep and solemn throughout.

Walking/trudging/battlefield/noise intro sounds fairly accurate and then we have a wailing voice. A little reminiscent of the exceptional Lisa Gerrard, of Dead Can Dance fame (perhaps one of the greatest singers alive).

Then the baby enters, wails then dies/is removed from the soundscape in a mushroom cloud of reverb and we're into just music - no ambient sounds/effects.

It's a great, emotive piano tone and then hanging string note does a fine job. Where is that vocal from?

And then it's over (too short). I'd listen to this if you made it longer, developed it and removed a lot of the battlefield trudging ie just got straight to the music.

So, develop it further, turn it into a full piece and you'll have an emotive, deep chillout track.

Immersive congratulations.

Hey Static! The vocals was myself :P I did a falsetto and then added a good amount of long reverb. It did the trick, I think :P I agree that its too short, cuz school is killing me! Hopefully I can get back to this one. Thanks for stopping in!

Very well done ER I've been doing soundscape music for a couple years now, love the depth and freedom it adds to the music :D freesound.org will be your new best friend. Deep song here, war is hell and doesn't indeed affect only those fighting it. Looking forward to more from you :p

This was good, I like the atmosphere you created and the solemness of the piano. Reminded me a little bit of some of the Interlude work from the Judas Priest Album Nostradamus.

This song just makes me feel worst about my old pair of surround sound headphones dying :P. But it still sounds amazing with stereo headphones. The one thing I don't like about this track is the name, I think a name like "The Aftermath Of Chaos" or something like that would fit much better.

hi Epic.

I USED HEAPHONES this time anyway.

The beginning of your track reminded me of 'Saving Provate Ryan' kind of thing. Some other sounds are really in the style of phatkatz, that piano is pure commertial (emotional?) TV stuff but overall this is some really good effort. Nice to hear something different from you.
Good track.

Best to you,

Well, I suppose I meant "emotional" in that the piano would at least make the listener think about the effects of war :P Glad you stopped in promenade!

This is incredibly impressive. The production of this is absolutely ace. Both the video and music so professionally done. Your acapellas are of such quality as well - do you have any tips/advice on making them sound professional? Anyways, great listen :)

Pop music-based greetings.

I've heard this a few times and also watched the video, which I thought was well done.

When I first saw the track title, I thought it was going to be a cover of the Nirvana classic. Sadly not as that's a much better song. This certainly isn't my kind of genre of song but it's all well done, as always. I'll just say some more for now about the video, which is well made.

It's got a real simplicity to it, which is all it needs. I think people into this kind of music want to see the people making it so you deliver on that front. The beach/water backdrop provides a decent contrast from the studio and the edits are fine. Camera quality is good. There's nothing particularly interesting happening or any sort of narrative but that doesn't matter. That takes a lot more work, time, planning and probably expense.

I'd say the video is pretty much good enough for commercial release. But, in the world of Youtube, it already has been released so it's not like you need it to be on MTV (yes, I know they don't really do many music videos anymore) for anyone to see it.

Finally, well done on doing this whole song and video so quickly.

Good luck to you and your brother.

How are you able to write such long thoughtful replies??? Lol Its hard for me to find the time :P Thanks for your comments. I agree, for being rushed it wasn't exactly playing out a plot but I was honestly just testing out my camera for it :P Appreciate the honest comments, my good Static Nomad. C:
