since this is a remake from a flume song, I just listened to the original and recreated it by ear. So yes, the chords I listened rather then using a set key. As for the human sounding midi, try to make it sound almost like a live piano player. They don't play on every single beat perfectly which actually gives music character and texture. I do this in ableton by turning off the magnet and experimenting with different note placements.
