Makes me so happy to actually see someone ask a question instead of just replying F U or something crude like that. Not that I know all, cause I don't, but you'll get far with that kind of attitude. Generally on vocals, because the voice is a very natural instrument, you would use a slower attack and release so the compression seems more natural. Also a lower ratio as well. There are a few standards for compression and sometimes I do adhere to them, but the main rule is that whatever sounds good is good, but don't settle on your first good sounding settings! Tweak until you break everything that you thought you wanted to sound like and then you'll start to get an idea of what you can do to make yourself sound the best. The only critique i have is for your fx. your voice sounds nice. (also on a side note if you want producers to use your stuff don't put any effects on your sample. that's our job haha.)

Ahh, I see, my favorite thing to do is learn. How else do we get better, right? :P Anyways, I guess I'll start practicing with it until I start to catch on better. Maybe next time I'll add a wet voc and a dry voc so people can choose! Thanks for the advice by the way!

This track has waay too much compression on it lol. I know we all want to be like owl city, but its too much. As a producer I would want a track that was under-compressed so I could actually work with the material if I thought it needed to be changed.

Well, I'm learning, the vocal tracks I usually put on here were unused or ones I found in old folders while browsing. Suffice to say that I'm not going to go too far out of my way to fix them all or simply can't because they're what's left of an old hard drive. What is a more acceptable compression ratio in your opinion? (Because quite honestly, compression isn't something I fully understand, I usually just choose the stock compression with the "vocal" setting)

I do believe so. Thanks! I think some eq and a smooth de-esser will help clean up the vocals as well. They were recorded a while ago haha...
