Description : This is a real oldie but moldy! The original was done in 1890 and I doubt will be appreciated by the youngsters here. I've always loved this piece, so thought I'd put my own spin on it. It was quite a challenge, since it was in a time signature, 9/8, that I had never attempted before. Of course drums and percussion were never intended for this piece, but I'm a drummer, so what the hell. Hope you like and download if you do.

I really wanted this version to win out of the three I made. Very pristine vocals from a singer named Eliza Smith. The contest has been over for a while so I don't have much of the info anymore. Probably do but don't feel like looking it up. So anyways, this is sort of deep house/chill out type of track and remix of her vocals. She also had an original song to her vocals and entrants job was to remix in the style of another artist. I forgot the artist name. I tried my best but it's more in my style, my third version was probably more similar to the artist we had to mimic

Description : I took this loop set provided by the7thmusic and I added a few things here and there, but you hear the violin loops to start and then a breathy vox type that I added comes in. This meant to be one person conversing, and the string type add( sorry for the terrible descriptions )in the middle where it breaks is a person stuck in the middle, the second breathy vox to come in the latter part is the other person. So its almost a conversation between three people, if that makes sense, with the loops acting as a background of sorts. Makes sense right??

Description : UPDATE 10/03/2015 Went back to it and realized I had a limiter on the Master track with about a 6db gain. Explained some of the high end distortion and excessive loudness lol. Well after leveling it I had to almost remix it (again) but it turned out better than before... Another Track I made a while back but have recently updated and mixed.

Lo and behold, I'm about halfway through the song when my buddy Mark, a friend from college, heard me singing and decided to join me (he seems to never part with his guitar lol).
The expression on his face was that of confusion as to why I had my mic with me and a audio-capturing device, which I plugged into an outdoor electrical plug that the gazebo owners installed lol (I've done recordings like this before but didn't like the results; we messed up a little at the end but I was like meh it's not bad anyways.) but I'm glad he didn't say it out loud or it would have ruined the recording lol. Luckily, I was playing a song he and I wrote together some time ago, so he was able to just jump right in. He's a great guitar player.
Even though it was a little awkward at the end since we hadn't seen each other for like 4 months (you might be able to tell by the way I responded to his "thats so cool" comment haha), I think it turned out just fine. It was a lovely evening and the clouds were all poofy and happy. Lots of people were there too, though I made sure to sit far away from all of them. Ahh, it was a beautiful day. I'm glad I live by the ocean :P * Just kidding, I recorded this in my studio; though I do live close to the water, this was not recorded there :P I did everything, down to the wind blowing into the mic, except for the sound of water and the kids in the background. The guitars and vocals were one-takes to give a more realistic feel. No pitch-correction or autotune. Just wanted to try making another soundscape (or whatever you want to call this :P) about what it's like to live by the ocean.

It took quite some time to bring this to completion, but I think it turned out quite nice. Contains some unusual synthesis courtesy of my DIY modular, Korg DW-6000, Microkorg, and Casio HZ-600.
