About Me

I'm a professional musician by trade, and a hobbyist beat-maker, electronic and avant-garde music writer/producer, and lyricist in my "off" time.

I am also punctual - both in the literary and itinerary sense of the term (Ha!).

Instruments I play

Drums/Percussion, Guitar, Bass, Dobro, Mandolin, Violin/Fiddle, and the human voice when it is so required.

Software I Use

Ableton Live, FL Studio (Re-wire), Reason (not so much these days), Audacity (though I still usually edit in Cool Edit Pro), Melodyne. I played with CuBase years ago and it just never stuck. I learned 'old school' though on Pro Tools and Avid peripherals initially.

Hardware I Use

I use various external MIDI controllers, outboard tube pre-amps,amps & PA rigs, vintage drum sets, acoustic & electric guitars & basses; mixdown is done with a Yamaha 02R, and I keep a healthy stock of my work mics around - Shure SM58s & 57s.

Listening To Right Now

I've actually been listening to a lot of 'trap' and hip-hop/rap lately; at present, I'm listening to whatever mix comes up next on www.8tracks.com under the 'trap' tag.

10 Favourite Albums

Here's a few that I wore out years ago:

Pink Floyd - "Piper at the Gates of Dawn"
The Beatles - "Rubber Soul"
Steppenwolf - "Greatest Hits" (seriously, I loved this dual-cassette release)
ZZ Top - "Tres Hombres"
Rage Against the Machine - "Self-Titled EP"
Spin Doctors - "Turn It Upside Down"
The Crystal Method - "Vegas"
White Zombie - "AstroCreep 2000"
Powerman 5000 - "Tonight the Stars Revolt"
Union Underground - "An Education in Rebellion"
Beck - "Mellow Gold"

...the list goes on.

My Influences / Fav Artists

Foremost, my father.

After that it's a wide plethora, but to list a few handfuls I suppose I could go with (in no particular order):

John Bonham (R.I.P.)
Jimmy Paige
Aaron Comess
Glenn Graham
Daniel Day-Lewis
D. Ray Manzarek (R.I.P.)
Hunter S. Thompson (R.I.P.)
David Mamet
William S. Burroughs (R.I.P.)
Ken Jordan & Scott Kirkland
Thomas W. Pentz
Frank Zappa (R.I.P.)
Jim Morrison (R.I.P.)
John Holmes (R.I.P.)
William (Billy) F. Gibbons
Claude H."Butch" Trucks
Baxter A. Black
Leighton B. Watts
Thomas Paine (R.I.P.)
George Harrison (R.I.P.)
Henry VIII of England (R.I.P.)
Benjamin Franklin (R.I.P.)
Tom Rowlands & Ed Simons
Beck Hansen
Neil Young
Plato (R.I.P.)

et. al

A few on this list I've had the pleasure to work/play/jam with, while some I've never had the chance due to generational constraints. My influences are not necessarily my favorite bands or artists, and vice-versa.

My Music Sounds Like

I'm the wrong person to ask. I'm still figuring out what it is, and what genre(s) to stick it into - my direction and focus changes rapidly these days.

In My Other Life I ...

Well, I *do* make music for a living (I'm quite the connoisseur of Ramen products as a result!), but I also am a Film & TV actor (www.imdb.com)for a living, and additionally the house DJ for a local club a few nights/week.
