This sounds very good!I like the upbeat sound and dreamy reverb synths :)

Also, the scratch sounds very original, well done!

If there is any feedback I could give you is to be careful with your reverb. A lot of sounds seemed very distant in this mix. Although, that might be because of the genre.

Keep on making cool music :)

Reverb is fun, and I like it a lot. But it is like a drug, so I get your critisism. Geniet, maar met mate.

Although it isn't my kind of genre, I can certainly appreciate the sounds you designed! I like the distortion on your snare and the highhat sounding electrical currents that come back during the beat (best way I can describe it). It's an itch in my brain! Look forward to your album :)

    Spivkurl
    Reply by Spivkurl

Ha ha, my brain itches too, but I think it's just the wildfire smoke!

I appreciate you listening out of your comfort zone so often! I know that this isn't a commonly accepted "song" in the strictest sense. I'm working to do my best within the confines of my physical reality, since I am just one person. Computers tend to make me pretend that I have more arms and legs than I actually have, plus a couple of brains.

I think the next track I put out will have a bit more commonplace acceptance, but we'll see.

Thanks for taking a listen my friend!

So, I am a big fan of fantasy and games. This is something I would have playing during my D&D game night. Well done. To paint you a picture of what I see. I see a green field filled with white asters and trees swinging in the wind. This is a very good song, but it ended so abrubtly! Damn shame. What did you use for the metallophone at 0:03 - 0:07. If it is a plugin, I would love to know what it is called. Great track overall, love the vibe!

Hey Allochtune, thanks for the kind words. I also love fantasy video games so it makes me very happy that you visualized that and made that comparison. This track mainly used the Kontakt player for the sounds and the melodies were made with my piano and transferred into the studio.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

Those vocals are really good! Interesting track overall, but I would personally vary the bass melodically. Maybe experiment a bit with it? :)
Also, the BPM could be a bit higher. But, man, those vocals are perfect. Don't change anything about those! Good luck with your track!

I was meaning to add a comment to this track. That is why I favorited it :) Again, this sound just speaks to me. If you have a soundcloud, I would love to follow you. Do you know that feeling that you forgot something, but can't remember what it is even connected to? That is the feeling that this song gives me. Which, for me, is a good thing. Keep on making cool music!

Man, this is straight up emotional music. I haven't heard anything that sounds like this. It kind of sounds like psychedelic hip hop! I love it! I have bought a KORG Volca Sample, because I am poor, so I hope to make some awesome beats with my sample playback device. Someday, an MPC1000 would be really cool to have. I really like the bleeps and bloops in between the notes :) Keep on jamming!

Thanks Allochtune, I appreciate the listen. Psychedelic hip hop is one way to describe it for sure, lol.

Bleeps and bloops were created on the slim phatty, pitch LFO on the bassline and automating the octave of the oscillator :) -- (if you were curious) --

Let me know how you like the volca sample. I hear they're a neat tool. Btw, take a listen to the Brainfeeder label if you want to hear more stuff like this...

So, normally this kind of music doesn't really suit me. But man, this was quite good. I like the growls at the beginning! There is one instrument after the growls that has some reverb. A little less reverb would maybe help the clarity. But that's a personal thing, I am a big fan of using really small amounts of reverb for instruments. I think the vocals are quite good! In my opinion you don't have to change them. They fit the style of the track! And on the subject on how to continue. I could not, for the love of me, help you with that. I tried thinking about it, but I can't. I am sure you will find something! :)

Thanks man, I'll keep that in mind when I'm mixing, I agree but I'm thinking of a different type of reverb, maybe a spring plate.

I rarely use vox in my tracks, I'm kind of forcing it as I've noticed when I do use vox my music gets more attention.

I'm really stuck on what next, perhaps a four to the floor styled phrase or repeat what I already have and get to tweaking, difficult :/

Thanks for stopping by man :)

Great job Spivkurl! Original as always. I personally like sytrus a lot. I have just discovered the potential of the plugin. For me, with the right settings, it has a raw feel. Especially when you play around with the LFO possibilities and with the ring modulation. I would even go as far as to say that it can have some kind of modular synthesis feel. Keep on jamming! :)

(PS: In my next song I am using exactly this way, so you can hear what I mean, maybe)

Thank you Tom for taking a listen to this one! I too have just discovered the potential of the plugin, even though I've been using it for around a decade. I still kind of hate the sound of it, and as far as a synth of this sort, I far prefer the interface, capabilities and sound of FM8. When I'm going for a raw feel, I have so many hardware options that a synth like sytrus doesn't even cross my mind. It is modular in a small way, with the array of envelopes, modulation, and LFO stuff... which is definitely the best part. Being able to analyse any waveform for the operators is cool too. I will check out your song if it's up already. Thanks again!

This song feels like sitting in the park, after it has just rained. Drops of water falling of trees, sun going down. And you are just chilling there after work.
I love the piano. The crispness of the sound and the percussion fits perfectly. If melodic minimalism is a thing, this is the definition of it.
    Fave from me!

(Would you maybe be interested in uploading the piano seperately? I would love to remix it in another song, with your permission ofcourse.)

Every song that uses sidechaining and is about anime or something cute is automatically a future genre ;)
I think your song has a different vibe. I loved the vocals! The 'wah' and 'wooh' let me to believe that it has more a trap vibe. Including the trap high hat rhythm that you use. So... Trap?

Have you recorded the piano yourself? It really fits with the song! While writing this comment, I have listened to the song like 3 times now. So it is really good. Fave from me :)
Go on and continue doing cool stuff.

Well then it's settled, the track is now officially in the genre of Trap XD

I actually did the instrumentals first before finding the vocals that fitted the track, so I guess we could call it an "accident"...in a good way

I don't have a midi keyboard or any good sounding pianos right now which means no, I didn't record the piano live lol

Thanks for the feedback and comment btw! Cheers

I agree with Livingsoulsdie, the bass could be stronger. Rest of the effects, strong and interesting! I liked the use of gating :)
I also think that the bell like sound could maybe use a tidbit of reverb. But that is just my taste.

Also, I recommend that you try to do it yourself ;)
I have a directory filled to the brim with half finished projects. I use these as inspiration and sometimes I finish a song like 2 months later. If you haven't got that, I would recommend you make such a directory on your computer!

I really like the vibes of this track! Nice tempo, nice timbre and I love the effects. That thing you did at 1:23 was killer. The chopped up vocals are really cool as well.
Personally, I unfortunately didn't see the fantasy theme until the flute popped in. Then again, it was very chill and pleasing to listen to. Well done!

Man, this is pretty cool! I was swinging the whole song, I was immediatly in love with the first VST that kicked in at 0:12 and the vocals (including reverb!) fit very well with the 80's style and overall feel!
When the melody in 2:17 started I was like, wow! That's amazing. I, personally, think it is a shame that it wasn't incorporated in other parts of the song.
If you are going to continue working on this style/song, might I suggest that you look into the free magical8bit VST? (site: http://ymck.net/en/download/magical8bitplug/index.html) It is ideal for 8bit sounds if you experiment with it. I think it would fit perfectly with the style you are trying to achieve!

Thanks for the positive and detailed comment on this track, Allochtune. It is really helpful to get detailed comments, particularly where improvements or alternative approaches are suggested. I will definitely check out the VST you suggested. I wasn't aware of it. Your comment on the melody at 2:17 was interesting to me. I might just revisit it with your suggestion in mind. '

    Thanks again.

I must say, I love the drum and the chill cello! I also like the kind of off-beat nature of the cello. But, around 3:00 I personally think that it has too much sounds at the same time. From 4:50 onward it was perfect though.

    StaticNomad
    Reply by StaticNomad

Hello. Yes, the intro is quite cool and chilled. A nice, gentle, skipping groove.

    "off-beat nature of the cello"

    It's a bit funky, isn't it?

Is it really too crowded around 3:00? That's where you can hear the powerful organ and one or two distorted cello layers. Maybe I need to improve the mix but I like it busy and heavy like that.

    "4:50 onward it was perfect"

Yes - it's just one cello part and drums. Very minimal for me but it works.

    Thanks for the thoughts.
