Mr funk you are indeed! I listened to the first min and thought "this is very good FreeRad stuff" but the old funkster in me thought how cool it would be if the kick and the snare dropped hard...then it did at 1:20,wow!! I shoulda known you would know what to do with this track. I'm dealing with some health problems at the moment but I propose that in the near future some funky guitar riffs wouldn't hurt the track at all, which I would love to provide...with your permission of course.
Friend, great attempted at the DnB genre, like the way you have used the vocals in mix, to me has a club/rave sound about it especially with the vocals you have used...everything sounding good from my end, nothing standing out that shouldn't be there...good work...fav...Peace n Respect dude...Mosaic...
Love the intro drums. Sounds really groovy. Carries on its own well. And that bass synth is a beautiful touch. Good build so far. Stays interesting. Personally, I think the bass could've either been brought up a little more or the little echoey horn sound effect could have been down a little. Stands out a little too much for my tastes. I like that chopped up vocal. Quite entertaining. Oooooh. Cool wind-up. Ahhhhh, my nerves are being twisted. Nice re-entry. I feel like the background synth is out of key but that might've been what you were going for. It stands out a little too much here as well, for my taste. That "it's time to party" vocal is priceless lol. Loving this so far. Oooh - I like that gradual change to another sound. Almost like a mashed-up feeling. The female vocal that appears is cool. So far, my attention is being held which is good. Woah, that fade-out at the 5:30 to only pop back in is a really neat touch. Feels very groovy and definitely doesn't bore. Could be a good dance hit haha. Beautiful build-up. That girl's voice gives this part of the song a nice chorus-type groove. The transition to the next part is a little sudden for my tastes but it works. THOSE DRUMS DOE. I don't dance, but in my head I'm raving. AWESOME synths on this next part. That's really cool. I absolutely love the way they sound haha. Slightly punchy and compressed, awesome. And that BASS line. So cool. Loving this groove. I really am. The male vocal that pops in is a nice touch but I feel like it could've blended a little better with a touch more reverb. Overall awesome track. I like it FR. Keep up this stuff.
I rate it:
Originality - 10/10 Mixing - 8/10 Song Length - 10/10 Grooviness - 9/10 My Average Interest Rating - 8/10
Overall, great job! Could've used a few tweaks with some of the sounds in my humble opinion but I still really like it. I'm sure you're bound to miss something through all of that music so I understand haha.
Keep it up, my Looperman brutha' from anotha' mutha'!
Digging this one! Had half a fat dragon bowl left so it's a good time to settle into one of your mixes. The break around 1:20 is quite effective, despite it's simlicity... minimal is king. I'd move to this "house" if it was in the cheap hood. Second part definitely has a cool bass groove! I like the mixing on this section - nice wide high frequencies, and a solid center. Those vocals fit in nicely as well. Enjoying the third part as well! It's just got a bit more going on, and I know how that's hard to manage, but it sounds nice to me. Had fun hearing the whole mix! Have a great day!
Been meaning to comment on this for a while - since reading that JJ Weekz had chosen it as her fave Looperman track ever. I thought that's got to be at least half decent!
Anyway, it's much more than that and something different for you. Fine work and I'd like to hear you do more stuff like this. And that killer track feat Ray Koefoed. That was badass.
Anyway, this is a cool chiller and I will return to give more detail another time, when I have more time to spare for getting into the details.
Soz for the late reply. I've not been on the site for over a week. Thanks for stopping by and playing this old school track from back in the days before i started cheating with loops. I keep telling myself i should go back to writing from scratch but i'm just too lazy these days. Glad you liked the Ray Koefoed one as well. I'll be stopping by to listen to what you've been up to in a moment. FR
hi FR. Very nice. All made around one piano loop - that's impressive for a 8 min track. That female vocal phrase from about 2:05 was too short for me. The composition is kind of minimal for sure but you might try incorporate longer soul/rnb pellas instead of single shouts sometime. Just a thought. Anyway that was really enjoyable listening. Thanks. Best, Alex
Hey Alex, Sorry for the late reply. I've not logged on for over a week. I used to use full pellas from this site a lot but i just haven't found one that i like for aaaagggges. I suppose i could always try and change my style to suit the vocals instead of looking for one that fits what i'm doing but i'm just a bit lazy if i'm honest. Still, glad you could drop by and leave your thoughts. FR
