Hey Marnie. I appreciate your time and feedback. It seems I have hit a creative wall with this track though. I hope to break through it soon. Many Thanks!
Great one I dont know what to say cuz your track has no objection in my opinion its one of my favorite genres so great job my friend Kindest regards J_*
I love seeing more composers getting involved in the composing for art. It's excellent inspiration and a blast!! This gets my vote, as it fits very nicely with the picture. That was my second choice, I went with Trees and Distant Mountains for my entry. Even if you don't qualify this month, next month I'm sure will be holiday music so there's more chances. I don't care about a prize, it's rewarding in itself. Hope to see more from you on there :D The music brings me to the rivers edge as it flows along in the setting light of the sun. To me the melodies represent the different things going on like the flowing current and the drifting clouds. Absoluetly love the different interpretations we all have of different pieces of art. What an enjoyable ride! I'll be watching for the finished product.
Yes I agree with you I'm not motivated by the prize I'm motivated by the idea and exploring seeing and feeling music. Definitely is rewarding.
Thanks for your thoughts and appreciate your description.
And that's the beauty of music, art, and creativity in general. The self-expression, joy, and relief it creates for the artist and the countless interpretations and feel made by everyone else.
Omar - you create for me in the music exactly the reflective mood I feel when thinking about this subject of civilians trapped in a war. We are very lucky in the United States to be spared the domestic chaos so many countries - now also France - suffer.
Good use of the orchestral pallet - it is not always an easy family of samples to tame!
That piano is from your heart but from very deep...maaan, this is some pure brilliance...the whole track is very emotional, it is flying, dreaming, waving, floating...
Totally agree with you, this is a mix of hip hop and cinematic. needs some sort of vocals and a cleansing of the midi strings but a nice work overall. Cru
Nice mix of the classical and modern (synth) sounds...I think the great thing about the Cinematic genre is it just lets you play to any picture or feeling you want without worrying about what genre box it fits...you do it well..and this one allows the listener to add their own mind picture...nice emotional flow and good listening...well done Omar....enjoyed...Ed
Thanks Ed. My forte is hip hop and when I venture outside of that I still have a little bit of that influence so I get stuck on the genre thing. But I guess its like you said, cinematic has such a wide range.
This is so spare and elegant. The synth at the beginning reminds me of a choir of treble voices humming. I imagine them marching down a green valley, beating drums. I think this would well in a video game, during an emotional cut scene. The sweeping chimes are a super nice transitional device, and the piano is sparkling here. I like the mix; it's very clean.
That's funny you feel that those "synths" sound like voices humming because they kind of are. Its actually a hmm choir layered and panned opposite to an Ooh Choir. But they are not real choir so you are correct in saying they are synths :)
Hey Ex Im glad you like it. I definitely wouldnt mind letting you get at it but if you wouldnt mind I actually want to clean up the mix a bit as I went back to it recently. Should just be a day or two and Ill message you right away.
I'm a fan of the original song, and this does it justice--so elegant. I like the occasional hiccuped irregularities in the percussion; it adds it interest, and I think that adding more white space is always a good idea in design. Nice job.
Hey CD many many thanks for your comment. I tried not to stray too far away from Gary Jules version as I know how beloved that song is for many people, just dont know how well I succeeded. But Im glad that it did for you.
I can see a crowd of people holding up their cell phones to light up the darkness in the amphitheater, waving their phones in time to the music. I definitely get that epic feeling, and I totally know what you mean about that electric guitar wailing up there an octave above; that would be awesome.
Okay, back for another review. When this started, I knew I had heard it before. On another listen, I feel that this could really benefit from soulful honest vocals. I think you have much potential, and I want to encourage you to continue on your path. Fave!
Hey there, I tried to respond to your contact, and was greeted with an indication that you have turned your contact option off. I am eager to renew ties with you regarding this project. I have failed at at least half of the colaboarations I have gotten involved in over the years, and I think this was one of them./. seems like so long ago. Lets do it though. Please contact me again, but with your email addy and I will write you. Have loved this song for many years, and I will try to add my feeling to it. Good beginning for sure! Fave!
Hey, I sent you another message with my email in it. Didnt realize I disabled the contact form. Anyway thanks for the fave and hopefully we can develop this further.
Thanks BeatMaker I appreciate your comment and time. Its funny though I feel like the Oboe is the one that needs more work (on the mixing side of things).
Hey DM thanks for the feedback. I did check out the prozaks track. It was pretty good interesting little story. It had a groovy bass that I especially liked.
I've found I can enjoy RnB type stuff if it is creatively executed and not overly top 40 influenced, and this song fits the bill nicely! My first impression was that the guitar sounded far too artificial, but it is growing on me. Considering it was loop based, I can't fault you for that any way. I think the piano has a good tone for the style of music though. Interesting modern beats in here as well! I think if I was remixing this, I would make the whole mix a bit more gentle, as I felt the need to turn my system down considerably after listening to a couple of my tracks... if that tells you anything about relative volume... don't know... The ending here sounds really nice, and is a pleasant let down, if that makes sense. Very cool composition, I like it!
Hello again Spiv. Thanks for reviewing this really old track of mine. It was one of the first ones I put up on Looperman so forgive its many flaws. And I greatly appreciate it when people tell me how it sounds on their monitors speakers headphones whatever because Im so limited in that regard so like to know how it sounds on other systems. So yes it does tell me a lot about volume since your mixes are much more cleaner than mine. Much thanks for that. Thanks again for the review its always good hearing from you.
