from the get the strings enveloped me in a wave of deja vu. its a magical piece, a fiercely expressionist portrait of someone weve all passed by beneath a streetlamp on a bridge somewhere.
Hey Mike - thanks mate - it's a somewhat forlorn mood, an atmosphere imbued by a sense of loss and days gone by, that I was connecting with in this one. Started with striking some harmonics on the open tuned taylor and built up from there with multi-tracking and various treatments (as is my habit)
Hey my friend, your work is always a breath of fresh air, I don't come across anything else like it, really. And this one's deep, as well. All of us have times where we feel like those words are our reality. Thanks for sharing. -Aaron
Sorry for the slow response mate - hope you are well and thank you for checking this one out and the warm feedback, i will of course return the ears given and catch up on your latest : )
Hey Neal - thanks mate for stopping by to listen and the warm feedback - sorry to hear you had a bit of shit year - this track was somewhat influenced by sudden grief and loss experienced by friends around christmas - hence the choice of the sombre spoken word reflecting loss and the grim acceptance of the curve ball that life can throw into our field. Ill return the courtesy and give your track a listen and comment shortly - Ian
love spoken word as you know mate, had me from the opening second, never mind, never mind, short but great are you going to extended it or incorporate it into something else its worth it. and thats why i switch up genres, dont want to get bored, nice work, keep experimenting
Hey Paul - thanks for the warm feedback mate - I'll think this will stay as a little dirge but maybe what Ive learned in making it will influence some future effort : )
I'm going to jump lol because Simon says. Everything is pretty sad on description except for the being alone part I like being alone the best company is your own I'm a funny guy. Different man I like it with no drums too I didn't even notice until the end I like the little country western you put in it
Hey CC - Ive been away most of the week so probably missed a stack from you - will have a look and listen shortly. Thanks for checking this one out - yeah i get board with making tracks the same way so try different instruments and methods to try to find something fresh (for me) - as the old joke goes I like both kinds of music, country and western.
Thanks mate - the key didnt quite fit in some of this so took some careful listening and shifting to make it work - I think I got it all together okay in the end - it's different!
Not like the pop songs I have heard before. This is a deep acoustic sound experience that travels through space and time while leaving awesomeness in its wake. Nice smoothed out chilled sound. Excellent performance.
Thanks for listening and the warm feedback - it's unconventional, not really got my act together when it comes to structure in composition, but I was happy with the sound
ace mix on this, love them disorienting akais! the bass has a super woody tone, nice fingering there. a whole passel of guitars create a knotty ambience the other sounds flicker around like a Van de Graaff generator. this has a restorative quality i quite needed before heading in to work tonight. and coincidentally i have al green lined up for my commute, look what youve done eh? hope youre bringing in the new year in fine fashion my friend!
Hey Mike - yeah happy with the mix - took a bit to find the right compression. Al green - what a voice - sometimes let down by the choice of material (in my view) but with the right stuff unbeatable Ive flown across the country to our west coast for the start of the year - 30 degrees (c) here so off for a swim shortly - hope you have a great new years eve and year!!
Hello Ian, I hear that you put a lot of work into the design, the mix and also the mastering. And I have to say it was worth it! I like this jazzy and, on the other hand, the dreamy character paired with a very soulful flair that the song conveys. When I listen to it I get a slight floating feeling, something slightly trance-like. The gentle rhythm, the clear but unobtrusive sound, the voice, everything fits together wonderfully. Great song, not at all boring despite the length. I think you lose your sense of time when you listen to it intensively. Kind regards and a happy and successful New Year Manuela
What a fantastic piece you created here. The arrangement is unique and works superbly well with the vocals. So much soul beaming off of this, and the jazz elements mixed with the beautiful vocals make for a fantastic listen. Great work, adding to the favs!
Hey - thanks for listening - its one for submersing yourself in and getting lost in the sound but 5 minutes is a commitment - took a bit to balance the mix and it is weird but as you know I like to experiment. The 412 riff is bit I like best!
Hey Buddy - yeah just a little example of our work together - didnt seem to get much interest and I dont have much space left for uploads so deleted it Thanks for checking it out though : )
Hey CC - yeah I was thinking about how good you are at fitting the vocals in to your tracks when I was doing this but I dont have your discipline so the whole track is a bit loose - but that is kinda indie too hey - it probably does need some tweaking
That's good that your mood changes with genres. Great way to evolve your musical ears!! This is great man vocals fit on the money love the soundscape sounds
Thanks again mate - I like the sound of this one too but it still doesn't sound finished (like half of my tracks) : )
It's 40 minutes to christmas here and Im in need of sleep but will definitely give your tracks my ears in the morning so be posting some feedback soon (ish)
ive got this under my skin, mate. beautifully damaged, groovy as hell. really intriguing gtrs + electronics roomy but accumulating steam, awesome stuff happening by the 3.00 mark. the selection and placement of vox is extrasensory. weird, seething voodoo. cha cha cha.
Thanks Chris - yeah there's my guitar and I think 2 small samples of guitar as well. It came up a lot with the addition of the vocals - I was surprised they made that big a difference
This is perfect for what it is. Are you singing the track?
The voice is phenomenal! You have a hook there, and it sounds amazing and you hit us with it right of the bat. I had to replay the track because I missed its presence. The nature of a hook is that people will miss it until you bring it back. Bring that thing back somewhere before the song ends.
Sometimes when I record a hook, I think "Oh, would peoples ears miss this in about a minute?". Music can really be powerful for the listener but they shouldn't have to starve if you know what I mean.
You also have a great start to a little verse in there starting with "baby let me lift you up" and "I don't want to let you fall in love" I know lyrics are hard to come up with, but I think it could use a few more.
The arrangement is perfect on the intro "bars" and sounds like a hook to me. Maybe cut out some of the cluttered together filler vox hits and lay those few bars from the beginning down again where they fit.
I think tracks like these really let peoples talent shine through. I'm hooked on the sound of the whole track. Do I think you should put a lot of time into refining it? No, I think you established yourself on the record in a really creative way that showcases your talent. You'll look back at this in a year and say, Wow!
I think this track reminds me of my track New Money... Its not on looperman anymore. I had to delete it to upload other songs. But you could find it on any streaming platform, spotify, apple music, youtube etc... here is a link
Hey Johnnie - thanks for the great feedback - Ill give your old track a listen soon I hope. The vocals are samples 3 different sources. I'll have a play sometime and see if I can arrange this a little better - it's 25 tracks I think so might be a bit of a mess : )
Ian! This one has strong potential. Im imagining some fire changes off that bass line alone. The vocals are right in there but the whole track feel's just plain great. The guitars are lush and the percussive edge gives an undercurrent that resonates with me. This is off and running. Push it all the way through. Faved easily. Peace
Thanks Mark - I tend to get a bit lazy toward the end of getting a track done and though Ive learnt a bit about production on my daw the craft of putting structure into a track is still underdeveloped in me - my process is way too random and Ive no discipline - no real craftsman would work like that ... but hey play is fun - appreciate your warm feedback and encouragement
they call him dimestop he not just hiphop he got a voice aint no rolls royce but he take higher than those jumbo flyers n his tounge is sharper than mr michael myers

Man, that's a fascinating track. Loads of weirdness and bits flowing in and out of focus. Lovely stuff!

Hahaha I know the feeling. I've long grown accustomed to having to delete tracks here to keep it manageable so YouTube is my long-term history.
This is the perfect place for experiments though and if people don't seem to like it... I try not to care. The main thing is whether I like it ;)
