Its definitely got great potential bro. I dig the music but also feel the vocals need some work from the EQ side. Kyle hits the nail with his suggestions regarding the high pass filtering and mixed buss compression. I listened to a few of your other tracks that contain vocals and you obviously know how to dial this stuff in. So yeah, give it another once over and let us hear the final version. There's only a handful of head banger's on here so I'm always exited to see some Metal submissions.
Thank you for your generous comment. My mixing skills are so rusty I am having to learn all over again. Hoping this one is better than the first one you heard. I re-uploaded the track so have another listen please.
The song is good but you asked for suggestions on the mix. The track is muddy sounding. In parts of the song the music drowns out your vocals, although you might need to compress them to bring the dynamics closer together, which would help. The eq I mentioned are some settings you can use if you put an eq on your master bus (the channel that everything is going into). Cakewalk comes with a nice EQ that will work for this. My mixes are not perfect by any means, not even close actually, but I do understand the principles of mixing, putting into practice effectively is another story. Working with audio is an art, some people are naturals and some are not. I am in the are not category, but I try to improve by gaining insight.
I know I am sorry I've been out of the loop so long it took me awhile to figure out what you were saying. I didn't mean to come off like that. I appreciate your suggestions deeply and tried my best to make it sound better. Have another listen please, Andriella demo remixed.
Hey the drums in this are awesome, as far as mixing the vocals are a bit drowned out in some spots. The track itself sounds like it needs to go through a high pass filter which might be done on the drums and bass to help get some of the conflicting frequencies to stand out and to get some of the muddiness out. Try putting an EQ on your master bus and roll off (high pass filter) at around 20-25hz, then scoop around -1db at 450hz, then at 6.5 kHz bump it up by about 1 db, lastly at 10kHz bump it up by 1.5 db. I do this on every track and it clears the overall mix up right away and makes it easier to mix. Of course you might need to add a second eq on the MB after you compress. It also makes it easier when you are eqing on the individual tracks.
I pretty much agree with Mahloo ... the sound of the guitars is really good so far, the arrangement and the composition are top!! to your questions: 1. words are clear (I'm no english native speaker but I didn't need the written words to understand the lyrics, so ...), 2. you're not on key a little bit too often, 3. that's a matter of taste I guess, for my personal flavor they're a little bit too loud, yes, but just a little bit, 4. record a couple of different versions, so you get a better feeling for what to do when while singing ...
There are some pitch issues with the vocal and they tend to be distracting.
The track is really nice though honestly I would have liked the guitars a bit wider on some sections where there are multiple ones playing. It might be just a subtle change.
As I've said the track is really really cool but you need to fix those vocals. The distortion on the vocals also seemed a bit to much to me.
re: Abec listen to the words man...this guy was HURTING when those vocals were recorded...it comes RIGHT across in the track so who f@#kin CARES if it is perfect or not! Its the EMOTION of the track that is important, FUCK how it sounds...just my opinion is all...
Hey man long time no see!..great to see you back and running with a new outfit....I could have been played this blind folded and picked who did it in one micro second! lol..The lyrics are very good as is the singing,I like the way you step back from the heavy riffing and tone it down occassionally..this gives the song really great mood and lets it breathe..I reckon you should maybe multiply and multi track your riffs and expand that whole section so it's a huge wall of dripping metal that slays the listener..like put one central track of the guitar riff..then a right and a left panned one with slight echo or reverb added....cool your back...a lot of dudes have split in your absence and a lot more have arrived..but there is only one Jehobith!!..cheers Dave :)
Long time Planet. Such kind words. I like your reviews, straight forward to the point always good advice and crit. I think panning the guitar left and right is a great idea. what I did was mixed down all the tracks and then took copies of the mix to pan them left and right. I should do this to the guitar parts individually like you mentioned keeping one centered. Sad to hear people have left. I always kept looperman community in the back of my mind cant forget such a great place. Thanx for the advice Planet will put it to good use.
I think this would be a cool intro to a metal song. My thought is that it seems there are a million metal bands, a million techno bands, etc which is why I think its good to try and mix goneras sometimes. That's just my thought though. Curious to know where you got the vocal loops for this. Keep up the good work.
Heya Jehobith, what's going on man? Came to check out this track. Love the synth style type metal...nice industrial feel. How are the guitar chops coming? Cheers and great track...I totally dug it - Bilbozo
Static X... but better.... wow... dude... You ARE ON TO SOMETHING.
I have tried alot to mix the ideals of techno and metal together.. and it's been ... a finicky process.. I know not to muck when it's not needed.
Mastering of course is no where near in your mind in this... so I just hear that build.. are you going to mix this with some live sampled drums? or.. is it a segue like intro/outro thing? or ... I dunno man
Musically.. I hear the gates opening and the wrath being let loose... kinda bummed it didn't happen lol lemme know when you update!
sorry the gates didnt open for ya on this one...but when they do..all hell is going to break loose this i promise. Forget static-x, I love em, theyre a major influence on me yes but with this track i want to put them to shame. haha yes the gates of hell sounds a bit corny..the gates of endless possibilities i will try to open instead. I am going to take some more techno drum loops and mix them with some metal drum loops when it kicks in with some doubled up stagato guitar riffs add some synths lines to accomindate those guitar riffs. purposely going to make it chopy with but with an appropriate flow thats easy to listen to. "listen to static-x song "estego undead" think its spelled right you will get a commparison of what I have in mind. I want this to be a finished product that when someone listens to it whether like this kind of music or not they will either hate it or love it..either way they feel i know they will appreciate it..anyways I could typed less and told you with one word what im going to do
Really good vox, nice guitars. I love the chorus but miss the bass. I don't mind the length but i think you can let it grow towards the end, maybe a Hammond B3 would add a nice flavour? This track has potential and I'm adding it to my favs now.
Yes i cant wait till we get some bass guitar in this. Im thinking I want to add a complimenting guitar solo to shower and emphasis the vocals towards the end, make it more appealing. I agree with you, I also feel this tracks potential. thank you for the review. appreciate it.
Me and the singer was talkin bout this track the other day actually, and were talking about what changes to make. the track itself is too long needs shorten a bit due to repetive parts both vocals and verse. but yea thats a good idea. we wish we had a drummer..i get tired of using drum loops..everything else is our own work. thank you for the review much appreciated.
Sounds pretty oldschool and badass to me. Kudos for the overall sound and riffing. Definitively somehing I can imagine Ozzy singing to. Great stuff Jeho, more of this.
really wow. mentioning ozzy singing to this would be honorable indeed..it would be awesome. Thank you. I tried to keep it as simple as possible. didnt want to over power any of the instruments. thanx for the review Steinaa appreciate it.
oh yea forgot to mention that this track has been updated and called "Shadow Baby" with vocals recorded into it by my band mate M.A Shaft feel free to check it out..
Tool is great band. When me and my band mate recorded this i wish we would of made it more abstract now that i think of it in that way... but straightforward is a good direction too. THank you for the review I appreciate.
Jehobith - I'm glad you're back, man. Seriously, it feels like one of the crack's been patched up finally.
The older I get, the less I'm attracted to Rock. But sometimes...nothing else will "speak" to and for me and I got to put some on.
Listening to this track really reminds me of why Rock&Roll was my musical location for so long. It carries an energy and emotion that really works for certain periods in our lives. Rock is the evolution of sounds like bagpipes and oboes and resonate with emotions that feel like these sounds. Because you're into it, it works.
Thanks for helping get this day's angst out - sonic extraction achieved!
hey Thank nomad. glad to be back selfish and childish of me to leave in the first place but. I had my reasons. You review is very deep and I get it. Glad I could help you out. Means I have truley achieved something today. thanx for the listen. much appreciated

That opening is awesome. The breakdown with the pad swell sounds great. This is probably one of the best techno/metal songs I've heard.
