Big and deep sound field in this song! I'm liking the epic vocal recording and the crazy rhythms. Some good messages in here, and I always appreciate that in a song (especially a rap). Pleasing and expressive throughout! Great work! Fave!
Awesome track Salook! Man this is trippy. The beat is sick and lyrics are great. I love the vibe of this track. The mix sounds good too. It's a Fav. Nice work.
Oh yes! Well done guys and hello! This has a very cool dub vibe going on. The dub guild, haven't heard that around here in a while. Great vocals and a great overall composition. Really diggin' the 3:00 - 4:00 minute section!!
Really great dub track here man. Tune for the smoking, but ah wait what's this? I just happen to be smoking a bowl as we speak. I assure you though, I will get some tracks done though ha Yea but wish I still had my car to ride to this, got in a really bullshit accident a lil while ago.
I know I didn't have to mention that, so excuse me for venting my problems a lil. That's just a bit of them, but good news I'm up on cash. lol Not that it's that much, it's still better than what I've had "extra" in a while. But yea bro quality track you got here, very nicely done collab.
Skylarking, sparking. Sounds like a good time to me,haha peace
No problem with honest and constructive feedback. I'm sort of not sure what the point is in just leaving "Sweet tune. Liked the guitar!" or similar on people's music (I get quite a bit of that. Nice, but not that useful to me). Something of substance might help them and any decent musician should have a fair bit to say, especially if there's room for improvement.
YOU HAVE TALENT .. NO BONES ABOUT IT. I like how you like to think outside the box ,, very like myself Salook! I have listened to all that you have here. I like what you do. Check me out & here my thoughts in transition! Respect, Peace & Love.
I'm going to go against the grain of all the other reviews and say that, as good as this is, I feel it could be better. It needs to have a more distinctive change and probably build to something bigger. But maybe that's just how I like to hear and make music so no problem if you're happy with it as it is.
I thought you could have varied the drums more eg perhaps sent the hats double tempo or something. Good atmosphere and vibe and vocals but not enough memorable bits for me. Along the same lines, good simple groove but plods along too much. I'd enjoy it if I was out listening to it somewhere (just in terms of the vibe) but I don't think it has the vitality and depth of truly great music (and I'm sure that's what you're aiming to make) or enough memorable riffs or solos or dramatic moments.
Good work anyway and hope you appreciate that this is constructive criticism based on my genuine reaction to it.
Man I hear you...for I am and never will be 100% satisfied with my tracks!...always feel there is room for improvements...especially as I am learning my trade!...thanks again for the honest and constructive feedback...lots for me to take away..much appreciated man...will be over to listen to you again soon!
Hey Malu, nice to meet you and thanks for the great review, good of Abe to direct you to this one..not familiar with Mount Eden but will be sure to check them out, thanks again for listening, appreciate your input. peace.
Had to listen to this one a second time right away! I really like the throbbing vibe of the mix, it brings the listener right inside the action! Nice vocals too, they're haunting! This is like electronic folk music or something! Too cool! Faved for sure!
Glad you got the chance to listen to this one buddy, really like how it turned out, nomad23 was kind enough to gift me the drum stem to his 'Examined life' which he intricately created...Avanacos pella just seemed to gel nicely with the whole theme,, was a privilege to be able to use such great material and turn it into something that was acceptable, thanks for yet another fave, much appreciated as you know buddy, thanks again for your listens and feedback. cheers
Sick stuff, real good, naturally good piece of music, the fx are super! can feel the groove, the vibe is nice and strong it all fits together so well. Definitely fav, gotta hear more of it. The groove is catchy man, the fade out is genius btw. The whole feel of the track makes me feel more alive, good fwork.
Hey NS, sorry about the late reply here, really appreciate this kind of feedback and glad you took something positive away from listening, your review makes me well chuffed, thanks for the fav. cheers.
I can't believe I missed this one by you. I really glad I found it because it is so smooth. It sounds of great work and passion. You guys were meant to do music together! peace bud, hope all is going well for ya. rick Oh, thanks for sharing it with us.. :)
My man, good to see ya and thanks for stopping in, owe everything to Anomoly Jonez for this track, man she owned it completely, feeling grateful, cheers for the encouraging words my man, appreciated, cheers.
Was out surfing and looking up info on the Hallmark Entertainment film we watched recently, "Dreamkeeper." Found out that Iktome (Spider the Trickster) was played by Gary Farmer, who of course was Philbert Bono in "Powwow Highway." Yes indeed, Philbert and his War Pony (remember my early critiques/comments?) - Gary also played the character Nobody in "Dead Man" with Johnny Depp.
He's also got his own Blues band called Gary Farmer and the Troublemakers (he's the founder) and plays harmonica. I'm trying to find contact info, because I want to send him this track of yours. I think he'd dig it tremendously.
BTW - Coyote (in Dreamkeeper) is played by John Trudell and is another character of interest we should probably get a copy of this to.
I do so dig Transit Pow Wow. See what it continues to do?
Great linkage, I just sent you a quick email..I gotta see this film 'Dreamkeeper' and now making it a priority to do so....good job on the info Sean, feedback from those guys on this piece is an exciting thing. nice one.
big breathtaking sound! man this is it! outdid yourself here man. did i say this was BIG?! man Anomoly just let go and melted into the mix. Massive and Crucial fe sure! Beautiful meh Bredda
hey a 320 suddenly appearing in my in box would just cause me to grin from ear ta ear.........
Hey my main man, thanks for your great words as always, feeling blessed AJ got her soul on this...really man track would be nothing without her great vocal skills..cheers bro...gonna write you an email.
Hey, I wanted to ask you? What version of Ableton are you rocking at the moment? I updated to 8.2 and I wanted to just warn you, DON'T DO IT! lol I can't really do anything lately because it just crashes with every other move.
Impeccable stuff tho bro. Love this. Haha I want to beg you to let me do a remix (and quite possibly ruin it lol) but yea. Thanks for sharing this!
I haven't yet jumped ship still rocking on Cubase, was going to try out Ableton till Cubase 5 came on the scene, its a good piece of software and i am just getting into rewiring Reason,
Iv'e got the protools Mbox sitting boxed, but i need to really get my hard drive and computer organised before i set it up, otherwise i will just kill my computer lol
Thanks again for the big digs man, feeling blessed that AJ would want to get on a track like this...she is awesome.
A remix? glitch this baby lol, i'll make contact with AJ and get her permission, the way she delivered on this track...man she owns it now lol
This is wicked! I love the haunting music you've created! Aj's vocals are in top form on this one as well! An excellent colab! Great job mixing and mastering this track! I'm very impressed! Faved for sure!
Thanks my friend for the listen and feedback..agreed...AJ on top form here, feel very lucky to have her on this track, thanks for the compliments buddy always looking to improve on my mastering..thanks for the fav..take care, cheers.
WOAH. This is... so absolutely amazing. You're by far one of my favorite Dub artists. Here, or anywhere for that matter. This song just has the spacey, heavy feel down PAT. Someday when I'm back home, I'm gonna spark up a little of the sacrament and just zone out to this track. Work like this reminds me of how much room I have to grow personally, and it's exciting.
Wow man cheers for the huge compliment, very encouraging and makes me want to do more of this kinda work..this track i reckon would be nothing without Anomoly Jonez, she done a great job. cheers again buddy for the great review.. peace.
Really great Stephen!!! Reminds me a bit of Massive Attack. Levels sound really good. Did you realise that you are Fife's pioneering Soul Dubber? Good stuff!
Fifes pioneering soul Dubber....i like that lol, cheer buddy..as you know i am always working to better myself especially on the mastering side of things...the thumbs up from you is always a great boost..cheers neebs.
