Hi dude, a little blues is good even if I would have preferred a less rhythmic vocal, but you wanted it like that and it can be listened to on its own! good job john! Michael
I would say the official genre is americana, but they don't have that option here on looperman... Blues is certainly the genre of the istrumental. After I add the lyrics though I think it becomes more americana.
The instrumental certainly kept me entertained, when I was recording. I could see that the vocals overwhelm the sound a bit... But I thought it turned out decent with the vocals added.
"According to the Americana Music Association, Americana is contemporary music that incorporates elements of various American roots music styles, including country,roots-rock, folk, bluegrass, R&B and blues, resulting in a distinctive roots-oriented sound that lives in a world apart from the pure forms of the genres"
I don't know why but my first thought is bar and a female dancing sexy so basically a Roadhouse lol I do think in a way that the beat and your vocals are competing with each other to be the loudest. I might have to take a crack at this
Yeah the mix could be better, but i think it turned out kinda nice. I like my vocals loud, I originally had them louder and didnt like the way it sounded. The beat is so fire I didnt want my vocals to take away from it too much.
tight bro, love the R&B hip-hop flavor even found myself throwing a few lines in listening, nice work Johnnie keep em rolling im working on 4 but lifes busy at the minute, time thing
Ok so u just on the spit game. I got to still try this genre maybe I could get it down I normally don't produce instrumentals or create instrumentals I like to create around the vocals. But I see you like this style let me see if I could need to research this first before I get down on it lol
I had a hook laid down, but I decided to rewrite the hook, and repurpose some of the old hook I had to the last verse. As for the instrumental, I never make those I use producers.
Amazing sax, great song! Btw what I learned from Manuela: rather than turn up the vocals, it's sometimes better to compress the instruments and sidechain them to the vocals. This creates more space for the vocals. Merry Christmas my friend!
I always use compression on my vocals. But I do not have much control over the instruments, I get the instrumental in full form I could buy track outs... But I dont have that kind of cash on hand.
This is very classy - classic soulful blues with your own twist- the lyric is great, the vocal performance is spot on and the production sound is excellent.
Yeah wow amazing intro! No need to attempt to remix. To damn good! Excellent I like how you came in verse from hook. quality high class! I like the Blues if I didn't before
nice vibe bro i like that blues feel great sax good vocal and the mix is cool mate, its you and thats what counts, you have stamped your position here in featured and i always look out for your tracks and listening to what you got to say, your cool as cucumber mate
Thank you, Paul. Really, I treat looperman like an open mic, there's not too many places like it on the internet. Just a common crowd, almost like a small twitter circle. Or a group at a local bar or something, where we've all gotten to know each others work. I always try to bring a surprise.

But that's okay! I think writing lyrics and singing them myself is great! And then having the courage to publish it is great. Hats off to you!
