Things have gotten so that I have trouble differentiating between trap and hip hop, as I'm finding with this beat. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I love both genres and I love when people combine genres! I like the drums personally, they are chill and groovy. The melodic elements just need a bit of variation. All in all a fun track!

Prodcde, ok I see where youre going here. Marimba, xtra accents on the hats. This is nothing but potential plus. I see this with vocals and some lo-fi synth, and de tuned horns. Go ahead and add some more fire to this already blazing track. Good start definitely. Be safe.

Dude this reminds me a lot of Tycho. I love the triangle synth/bells. Id love to hear a full version of this eventually. I know the genre is supposed to be chill but I feel like the drums sound a little thin. But then again music is art so its really about the artist's expression.

Appreciate the comment Sky, hadnt heard of Tycho before, def gonna check out his catalogue. And I agree with the drums, it was sorta an artistic decision but I think I shouldve at least turned them up a bit. Thx

Nice! Kinda lofi in a way. You know what I think it's missing like a solid 808 or some sort of a Baseline. Nice work tho!

Thx Cinco. I think you right, there is an 808 but low end could def use some thing else. Decided not to add bc the lead had a lot of bass

If you find an individual track or instrument that is not loud enough in the mix, even when you turn it up, try saturation (either a hint of distortion, loudness, or reverb, by order of impact of the effect). Just a dab will do.
You will find that the sound pops in the mix. Then you can keep the level between -6 and -12 DB (roughly) and still hear it, and your track will mix to -3 to 0 DB (roughly, depending on the number of individual tracks), which means it won't clip (give the wav a flat-top). Then you don't need compression on the master when rendering the final track.
Once again, I am no expert. These are just things that I do in my mixes that I have learned from experience and tutorials.

The reversed synth sounds pretty cool. I like the minimal high end percussion as well. You don't necessarily need a soft clipper. You can just adjust the volumes and frequencies of the individual tracks. The clipping I hear is due to the kick and the bass not meshing well. Doom said it best. Quiet and equalized is better than loud and messy.

Good ideas here. If you level your individual tracks to about -6 to -12 DB you will get a better balance when you render it.
I noticed that the ideas were good, but the levels were a bit quiet on some things. It is better to have a good sounding quiet track that a clipping loud one, but a bit of a boost on the quieter parts wouldn't hurt.
I'm no expert, just food for thought, good track overall.

gotcha, would u recommend a soft clipper for doing this ?

    Thanks!
