hope your good mate, nice emotional song. i like the idea, a lovely tribute for your friend, i can feel the emotion in your voice, yes the track needs work so im not marking it down i know you will be tightening the things you mention vocal and keys and im sure you'll bring us the finished piece, keep grinding Bou
Hello my friend. I think you have a lot of work to do on this song. But you know that too. In principle, the idea and the way the song flows are good. On the other hand, things aren't running smoothly yet. The piano sounds a bit choppy at times. The inserts are too precise, too mechanical. It sounds like someone "speaks faster than he reads." I don't know if you understand what I mean? It's not loose yet. It still comes too much from the brain and not from the heart. But with this song in particular, the heart is more important than the mind, right? Your voice is wonderful. Vocally, you tell the story with the right amount of emotion. The drums are too mechanical and not soft enough for me for this song. I would be even more reserved with the drums or even forego them altogether. Maybe work with a soulful bowed bass? We don't need to talk about Mix and Master yet, it's far too early for that. Carry on with the song! The song has the potential to become a wonderful ballad. Kind regards, Manuela
I sent the package on Friday, so I was hoping you'd have it by now. Even the CDs I sent to the US got there in 5 days! Let me know if you don't have it yet next week and I'll do it again if needed.
Yeah the track. The drums are midi, and as you said, not even sure they belong. a bit disappointed the piano doesn't sound better as this is with a quite decent Roland FA-06 rather than my usual midi keys, but I have some ideas how to improve them. In any case, those were a quick first take, so no harm done. I haven't decided on the instrumentation - your idea of the bowed bass is very cool. I'll play it live a couple times and see where it wants to go :)
The first set of notes on the piano had a gospel-ish flavor which was soul-stirring indeed. I can actually hear the emotion in your vocals & although you have said in the description about your vocals as far as I'm concerned your vocals are super heart-felt & authentic which also conveys a sense of vulnerability, the message comes through loud and clear, very touching/great arrangement also. Kudos!
Thank you very much Angelus! Played it live tonight and people really connected with it. It still needs a bit more body... but it'll be fine :)
You've been very busy! love your recent tracks, especially Math Equation and especially especially Daddio, that one is straight fire, as the kids say. Yayyy!
BaoBou, that's definitely a funky one. I immediately thought of Ian Dury & Blockheads... I'm sure you remember. Such a cool understated kind of funkiness. I really like the bass here... there's a lot going on. And it all sounds great too. Nice track. Cheers, Micky
Hello BaoBou, great very funky song! the mix is absolutely clean and skillful! Likewise the master! You can tell that professionals were at work. The voices are clean and to the point. A really great song! Best regards Manuela
Well everyone has already said it's a little different to your usual work, and that's true. Maybe it's just the drums that are a little more modern. I really like this one mate. Took a while for the vocals to come, but when they did, they were crystal clear. And I very much enjoyed the lyrics (always a failing of mine, listening to lyrics lol). Your guitar work at the end of this reminds me a little of Mark Knopfler. Great stuff my friend.
Professionala work. I was expecting some rap and whatnot cuz of the description but I now figure you do different styles and this one's the Blues. Nice guitar work and the lrics are great man. I got a bit o'blues in my blood too but nothing posted here... perhaps you might try bancamp but it's a bit sloppy and I've no idea how I did Nobody's Home but it's straight up murda. I'm even going to listen to it now lol
I'll check it out! Yeah the rap was track 17 (which was objectively terrible, I admit) and my usual style is something with funky guitars and piano, but I try to do all kind of things. check my YouTube channel if you want! https://YouTube.com/@BaoBouMusic
Hello BaoBou, "Back ti the Roots?" I think it's simply excellent! The song is very balanced, mixed and mastered beautifully. I once again have a pleasant club feeling when listening to this song. I think this song deserves a place on your new album. Great rhythm that not only gets into your legs but also into your blood. Kind regards, Manuela
ian sed it the rhythm section is tight and intensely groovy. the guitar tone has a beautiful bite, outstanding licks. all the elements in your description click, and its all blues-y. great track bringing in 24
The vocals are that classic bar room singer raw vocals. Amazing! Pour me another drink because it works well with your song. Excellent song arrangement.
Nice bass line sustaining the groove in this one, some very fine bluesy guitar (lots of it) and a great vocal performance - drums are pretty cool too - another great track
