"I see a woman in the night
With a baby in her hand
    Under an old street light
    Near a garbage can
Now she puts the kid away,
and she's gone to get a hit
    She hates her life,
and what she's done to it
    There's one more kid
that will never go to school
Never get to fall in love,
    never get to be cool."
7 out of 10, could have processed the guitars better in the mix with a wider stereo field, (sounds very garage like) but nice playing though, and classic riff.

Man, love the guitar tone in the second half. That's what I hear on my stuff. If you would like any of my kind of bass style, let me know and I'd be glad to do something.

The first few seconds' mix almost made me skip it, but I heard vocals and stayed and heard that you have a pretty good idea here! The first half bassline doesn't sound bad really, but you need a more present one in the second half, less repetitive and more freestyle. Liked it!

you're on to something here! very versatile arrangement so far, mix probably needs the most work at this stage. i really dig it, i can definitely hear some pink floyd- and porcupine tree-ish influences. which is right up my alley! :D

Dude I could totally see Maynard James Keenan all over this bad boy. I also agree it's too short and could definitely use another part or two. Honestly with what you have this could be a 5 minute song easy with the right interlude. Maybe a tear down of the riffs and then build it back up or go off on another tangent and then bring it all back together at the end. And yeah, all of us guitarists mix our guitars way too hot. :)

Nice job with this so far, solid track that can be expanded a bit.

Thanks for the comments Vega. Yes, the track above is very Toolish - that's how Evisma writes - and yes it it just a partial track. Here's the whole track which I just added a riff at the end.

Loving it!!! I agree with StaticNomad almost entirely, and was almost thinking of it just being in the parts where I go down to the low C#. I tune to drop D and then everything down a half step. Drop C#. But you were not off any notes at all and I don't want you to redo what you have. Would like the track on it's own to fiddle with also. Your tone is sweet as HELL! Thanks again for taking your time and laying some awesomeness on it!

Gladja like it dude. OK so now ya got a good start so now ya gotta find the right people to do fill in the other parts so we can blow this tune up to the big time. We need top of the line drums - a superb producer/mixer, and of course lyrics and vocalist. Don't think I can help w lyrics on this one. Just nothin' comes to me. Someone else is apparently meant for that. If ya don't got any better ideas, ask Crucethus to see what me can do. He does great drumlines and production.

OK, as I said below - I'm done here. Will follow with the other tune. And then - whatever's next! :-) At some point I suppose I oughta work on my own stuff, huh? Haha! :-D

Yo. I commented on your previous attempt. I think this one's better and it's a decent, crazy lead part. However, I think the solo goes on for too long. From 0:56 to 1:13 I think it's just a bit too much and a bit too intense and also overshadows the bass and drums.

If you could come up with a less intense 20 or so seconds, I think it might help. Maybe some sort of soaring, heavily delayed, simpler part or just tasteful, delayed chords that ring out. That would also allow the bass to be heard again.

Also, the track is too short and doesn't feel like a full track.

The Toolesque stuff starting on 1:13 is cool (drums too) so lots more could be made of that.

Your observations are pretty much on target. This clip is actually only half the song. It's really just the part where the guitar break needs to be. And yeah, the guitar is too loud - don't all guitarists mix the guitar too loud? 8-D In the DNA I think. He'll mix it right or we'll get somebody who knows what the hell they're doing with mixing (like Crucethus maybe). I got my talents, but mixing ain't one of 'em.

One thing I'm not sure I agree about is the "soaring delayed simpler". Might work. Might not though. Sounds kinda like Ice cream with jalepenos to me - but hell - maybe! I just do tracks by what I feel. If I feel something compelling in a tune, that's what I'll contribute. My work here is done. And dude, if you got ideas for the track, by all means, show us whatcha got. Might be a good fit or a smart new direction.

The only thing I wanna do is work with some good artists, make some great tunes, and split a couple mil between us. A good artist can produce good work alone - but bands make much much better productions. The way I feel is let's all work together - let's see what we can do.

Frankly I think if the talent on Looperman all worked together - we would become a major label. Tasty food for thought, eh? :-)

    Salaam.

The video is indeed quite amusing. Simple, but has it's moments, "pretty scary sometimes, real scary" lol. Interesting song and lyrics. I think the whisper vocal is very fitting man. Too short tho =) more funny lyrics.

I'm haven't come up with lyrics for a second verse yet. Workin' on it. :-)

Some really exciting synth work, awesome harmonies and just something a bit different from what you hear from the bland popular music these days. Diggin 'the Shepherd' Might have to get a copy of their back catalogue =)

Pretty cool track, you lose me for like 9 seconds from 47 to 56. Seems too busy. Maybe competing frequencies? Other than that it flows real well. Nice job.

Love the tone you put onto this one. At about 0:47 is when it gets too busy, but it's pretty sweet to hear some blazing fretwork ripping up the air. You did this justice!

I'll be honest, I haven't a clue about vocals, but I think it would be cool if you added some mild static to some bits of the song, giving off a sort of disconnected feel. (which you have done a great job with, by the way.)

Yes, I think I have heard that saying but I'm not quite sure what it means. And I'm not sure what you mean by using it here. I just think you need to make the guitar playing sparser so maybe just have shorter intensely busy bursts.

Some longer, sustained and/or delayed notes could sound great as they'd let the bass notes shine through.

It's good lead playing but I think it might be just a little too busy.

It's the sort of playing that bass and guitar would really enjoy doing live in front of an audience, at times facing each other and really rocking out. But on record I just think there's a bit too much going on between the two instruments.

I like the final (held) note of the guitar around 1:14 as we move into a riff very reminiscent of the main one on the track Lost Keys from Tool's 10,000 Days album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucJNpalnFzc
