Description : A classic controllerism track, which could be called ASSKLOWN. Was created while I was still on the dope, hearing voices all the time.

Description : I walked for miles, and what seemed like millennia in order to find the inspiration for this song, and subsequently the album which it helped finalize. It is an essential title track for me, even if it is encoded.

Here is the artwork in question.

A twenty-two month experiment,

Combining infinite expansion with absorpsion and inhibition.

A two thousand mile walk to the place I call home.

A home to be myself and room to roam.

A bone, and a stone, all alone and unknown,

But aglow, and beloved,

Here the sun and snow shown.

The album is available here, for the time being....

Description : Here is my most recent song, and one which I considered keeping under wraps until my album was released. With the Halloween thread, I thought this may be a chance to raise up the "funny ha ha" or "funny strange" vibe, and tuck under the nervous laughter. It was not made for this holiday or the related thread, but simply to express something which I think about regularly. I'm sure you'll get the impression!

Any masking, distortion or cross modulation is entirely intentional. This is, after all, intentional electronic brain manipulation.

Description : A combination of psychedelic trance and glitch, with a touch of electrotribal brain manipulation. Inspired, for the most part, by my new friend Gymnopilus. The main modulated bass part was courtesy of my DIY modular synthesizer under MIDI control along with live manipulation. Main drums created from the Zoom RT-123. Has some glitchy percussion which was chopped from a crossbending session of Casio SK-1, megcos keyboard, and my modular. Some field recordings from the local farmers marker in 2015 are also present. 1 UP mushrooms for anyone who can identify where the other voice samples came from! Thank you for listening!

Description : I recorded this song several weeks ago, live in studio. It was a very spontaneous reaction to some experiences and interactions only an hour or so before.

I recorded the audio tracks, as well as a video on my old digital camera. The video has been up on youtube for a while:

https://youtu.be/mu6Yf1OJixo

This was recorded with my 100 Proof microphone, Eat Lead Copper modular synth, Breaking Blue tabletop synth, modified Yamaha DD-20, and Zoom RT-123.

In the last couple of days, I finally got around to mixing the audio I had recorded into a better quality rendition. The stems were used as is, simple being mixed a bit and mastered.

Have fun listening!

Description : One of several live in studio tracks which I recorded in recent weeks. This one incorporated my DIY modular synth and a modified Yamaha DD-20 as the only instruments. The DD-20 was, in part, triggered at audio rates, enabled by the the input modifications. Not quite the usual spivkurl track which you may be accustomed to. I'm putting this in psychedelic, though it could easily fit into ambient, glitch or cinematic genres.

Description : A little song about activism at it's most basic, with a pinch of active imagination. I worked my Eat Lead Copper modular synth into this one, as well as the modified Monotribe. Played a bass part on the old '91 Epiphone Precision bass. Also just did some parts replacement on the '90 Epiphone Les Paul Studio, and decided to test it out on this song... with amp and effects via a POD v2.0. Thank you for listening!

Description : Updated 6 May 2017 - I took a bit of advice from OViea91 in order to enhance the reverb field of the vocals, and I also worked to tame some harsh high end in order to allow the low frequencies and dynamics to shine through more. I think it is an improvement. Downloads allowed now! 21 April 2017 - Here is my latest song, which begin from two directions at once. The lyrics began as a sort sentence written on a calendar photograph, and the music began as my entry to the FL studio "Sytrus Only" competition. I finished the vocals completely freestyle, using my DIY 100 proof microphone. All of the sound design is still the original entry, and thus uses only the Sytrus plugin on FL studio. The arrangement barely changed from the original instrumental (to accommodate the vocals), but the mixing and mastering was updated slightly (since the competition did not allow any effects at all). Being observant can be a real bitch sometimes when you're out there in the world, though sometimes an idea like this can be the flip side of the coin. The song also started me thinking about the literal difference between "Earth" and "World." One seems specific, and one general... though I think that the generalisation can add to the longevity of the relevance of an idea such as this. Thank you for listening!

Description : Latest Spivkurl track here, containing many different recent themes. A little bit of psychedelic organostep, maybe? Has the first released recordings from my latest instrument Bias Machine, which is a manual magnetic tape based performance sampler. Also some data bending, Suzuki Omnichord, Korg Montribe, and Yamaha YS-200 in here. Even my cat had her influence... Please enjoy the listen and download!

Description : I may have mentioned to a few people that I had recorded an EP to cassette tape in November. The thirty minute, seven track tape was recorded on 14th and 15th November (during that excellent full moon). My process, this time, involved choosing a group of instruments from my main studio, and then interfacing them in a way that allowed me to perform a spontaneous track live. There was no planning, and each track was only given attention until the previous was lain on tape. All in all, it was a very rewarding experience to create "on a whim" like this. No DAW was used to create the sounds, or to perform/arrange them. All instruments were mixed in real time, and the output was forever dedicated to the magnetic medium. All of these songs were instrumental, and not traditional in their performance. This is a digital capture of two songs from the EP - "Agonist Moon" and "Faultline" - They are the last track of Side A and the first track of Side B. If you are not familiar with those terms... they indicate the direct physical and psychological experience of interacting with recorded media in order to play it in it's entirety. "Agonist Moon" was described by my wife as an "Icaro," which is a tribal shamans healing song in certain cultures. "Faultline" is more of a peak minimal technological shift into the rest of the EP. UPDATE - The entire Agonist Moon EP digital re-master is now available here... https://spivkurl.bandcamp.com/album/agonist-moon-ep

Description : Today's six track recording of a live song which I've been practicing for several days. I broke many of my own rules when getting this to the product it is now. Times have been rough around here, with pressure building from all sides. You can feel it in the air, and in all the people. I can only hope that after the US election, some of the pressure releases. All tracks recorded simultaneously - Vocals via my 100 Proof Microphone, Monotribe, Beatstep, two modular synth tracks (one beatstep controlled and one by my four step sequencer), Zoom RT-123, 2xKawa circuit bent drum box, Boss RV-3 reverb/delay.

Description : Black and blue confession of a placebo recording session. Paranoia and repression - relief, exhilaration... it's all in there. Long uphill ride.

This is my first serious recording of the Music Man CA34 bass we got (Bowie)... and I used my modular synth patched as an envelope filter for the bass in parts. Also it has remnants of a live looping session with my 2xKawa circuit bent drum box and a Digitech Jamman Stereo Pedal. Even did some recording with my Baldwin Fanfare organ after installing individual line outs for all the channels. And yes I sang on it.

Description : A remix of Golden Ookami's excellent track Midnights Travel. The original can be found here - https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/178407

Was a very different experience working with this sort of stem set, and I have not done a remix of someone's track in a while. Added a bit of my hardware flair to this one. Thank you to Golden Ookami for making these stems available to us! Hope that you enjoy it!

Description : The results of six hours in a psychotropic environment which was novel to my experience. Only fixed some minor mistakes and mastered the song after I left the environment (or after it left me). It tugs at passion as a dog biting a dress. Resentment and discontent are its language. Slice of life tragic comedy, with a psychedelic edge.

Description : Giving a nod to my glitch-hop electronic past on this new track. Features many hand made sample sets of various DIY and vintage equipment around my studio, and some other goodies. Just putting this under electronic, so that the listener can make their own associations. Thanks for listening!

Description : Returning to a slightly more minimalistic aesthetic with this song, as compared to my most recent uploads. This one includes a portion of a loop from Durius, formerly known as WaterminD, and it is found here https://www.looperman.com/loops/detail/52855/132-ska-guitar-1-c-sharp-by-durius-free-132bpm-ska-electric-guitar-loop ... Thanks to this looperman user for the awesome loops!! I used a few hardware items in this one, including microkorg, yamaha ys-200, and zoom RT-123. Also recorded four verses of vocals. I'm going to call this "hardcore psychedelic electro-ska" for the moment. Meant to be played loudly. Thanks for listening! EDIT - After reading everyone's comments, I have changed the genre selection to "hardcore," as that is probably the most appropriate for this song.

Description : This is a song about standing up for what you love! Keep growing! All parts were composed and/or played by me, including guitar. All lyrics and vocal recordings are Spivkurl.

Description : UPDATE 3/31/2016 - Did some work on the mix and master thanks to the advice of Crucethus and promenade2239. I knew something needed work, and it turned out I need some shifting in the time-space continuum. Thanks to everyone who commented so far!

Original DESC - Yes, I admit it... I fall down. Different circumstances and results each time, but it does happen. Got some inspiration in the last week or two, and left behind some other responsibilities for a while to make this track. Did a considerable amount of multisampling of a Realistic C1000 to add to the song. This is the first song I've finished which uses my modified Korg Monotribe. Also contains Microkorg (on glitch percussion and vocoder use), Yamaha ys-200, Zoom RT-123, and my modular synth doing circuit bent voice synth duties. Psychedelic, dark cold wave. EDIT: Now that I think about it, there were no virtual synths involved in this composition, but only virtual samplers and effects. Everything else was MIDI and hardware sound source. Thank you for listening! Please leave a comment and I will return the favor!

Description : This song is represents the final summation of Spivkurl's new album "HellLP." Wrote it with my own two legs and a brain, and composed it with the help of some of my robot friends. The message should be very clear, and if it is not, then you may want to unplug for a while.

Description : With the winter solstice comes a new album from Spivkurl, as well as this new song from the album. Kind of a new-new-wave sort of track. We all like it around here.

Description : This is my entry to the November competition on the Audio Sparks for Art site. The song represents an enhanced workflow for me, considering the changes in my studio which had barely been accessed until now. No software instruments or loops/samples were used in composing this piece. On the contrary, each instrument represents an individual piece of hardware gear, including my DIY modular synth, my latest circuit bent drum module (the 2XKawa), Yamaha YS200, Microkorg, Casio CZ-101, Dual Zoom drum machines, and the Gibson organ played through my Kustom amp. This is also the first time I've used Expert Sleepers Silent Way in a completed track... this allowed me to clock the 2xKawa from my DAW using the DC coupled outputs of my audio interface. Almost every track contained here had live manipulation of some sort while recording, including amplitude modulation, filter modulation, control of delay parameters, spontaneous drum rolls, trumpet wow accents, as well as volume and sustain pedal work. It was a rewarding musical endeavor. If you enjoy this song, please go view the art piece which inspired it, and show your support with a fav on the audiosparksforart.com page!

Description : Here is the long overdue "culmination" of a collaboration between Promenade2239 and myself. Not too long ago he uploaded an inspiring finished version based on this song idea, and it is located here... https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/171320

Included here is Promenade on synthesizers and samples, as well as quite a bit of rhythmic, vocal and arrangement manipulation. The vocals and guitars (classical and electric) were recorded by me, and I did some synthesis and the initial drum loops.

We spent a lot of time and effort developing the idea together. This became especially apparent when I gathered all of the stems I wished to incorporate into this version, and they totalled 85! All in all, it was an extremely valuable experience for me, and I learned so many things (even about myself).

Please leave your comments if you have any, and I will try to reply as I get caught up! Thank you for listening!

Description : Got a new track here, which seems to fit with the hardcore aesthetic, what with the tempo, hard kicks, and driving bass. We'll see what others' will hear though. This song has been about 11 months in the making, and finally came together with the addition of some psycholotrystic field recordings. No evil spirits were harmed during the recording of this song. Features my circuit bent Tyco Hotkeyz, a track of modular synth, and some helpful controllerism. This is meant to be on dirty lofi side for the most part, so don't come complaining to me...! Thanks for listening!

Description : Here is my most recent musical endeavour. It is primarily vocal electronic, with heavy psychedelic trance and electro influences. It took quite some time to bring this to completion, but I think it turned out quite nice. Contains some unusual synthesis courtesy of my DIY modular, Korg DW-6000, Microkorg, and Casio HZ-600. Very effect heavy and throbbing. Please let me know what you think! Thank you for listening!

Description : After a major uphill battle completing this song and turning it into what it is now, I feel some amount of satisfaction. It was like reality wanted me to give up or something. It's done... phew... Have updated this almost completely, from repatching the modular bass, playing some guitar parts, adding electric piano and synth lead, redoing and tuning the DW-6000 synth, of course adding my vocals, and mixing and mastering. It really has become pretty new wave, like much of my stuff does recently. Have added the lyrics as well. I am proud and happy with it, and I hope you all enjoy listening! UPDATE... woohoo just broke 1000 plays on this track here at looperman!
***original description***
Hey finally here with a new track! I'm not sure what to call this other than electronic, due to the high tempo. This is the first song finished using my interface which allows direct MIDI control of my modular synthesizer. The mid frequency bass part is all from that patch. There are tracks designed with my Zoom RT-123 drum machine, the microkorg, and the circuit bent KORG DW-6000. Other than that it is just a kick and snare drum sample, and a a quick vocal snippet. So I guess it's fairly minimal in that respect. Would like to hear the Looperman community's thoughts on this song! Thank you for listening
