Song still needs some mixing and drum repositioning
Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.

Vocals by Arthur Granquist, guitar by the great Kevin Lysen, drums by Marc Karmatz, also the recording engineer.

One of us started with a chord and we followed each other.

Maybe I'm stupid but that final version sounds different from what I heard before and is IMHO absolutely fine. The voice has a good effect on it. Ok, our ancestors would have given the main part a bit more room for dynamic for every single instrument but that just reflects your style. A song with a real message. Great work.
Shades of Scorpions here ..nice work Manu...
btw if i'm a man in Germany and i need help what number do i call? LOL
The heavy part with the drums plus the cillout ballad-like style in the very beginning reminds me of a unique mix of Hammock and Echosmith.
Excellent sound! One question, was there a particular reason why you guys chose to add the phaser effect on the voice?
Anywho, great stuff as always

nice finished product Manuela, great job guys
Hi Manuela, unfortunately I have to agree with Eric. There is still some distortion on the stereo master. He did a good explanation how this could may happen. However using and mixing so many channels is not easy and takes alot of experience. Maybe try not to use digital EQ's in the DAW. Most of them do not sound right for analog instruments. Cheers und viele Gre, Oli
Mind the compressor and compression. Sorry just talking as a producer, not as a listener :-) The music itself does have a good vibe. So good to listen to real musicians in a real band. Please keep up the good work, Cheers...
Hi Manuela, thanks for inviting me back for a follow-up to explain my earlier remark and your question. Based on your remarks to me, I might have been in error about filters, but the fact remains there is still a distortion like sound on your final mix/master.
I suspect you pushed your outputs far too high, Manuela. The visual WAV representation, I believe, confirms my hypothesis. What is happening is the upper frequencies of your song are getting crushed because the transients from the other part of your song are competing for the limited upper space due to your high output mixing channels.
As a result, a hazy distortion effect lives in the upper part of your song, for the entire song. This is real talk, Manuela, and not criticism. A tuned ear will notice the noise. Much like you and everyone else here, the goal here is to entertain folks, while getting better. What I am suggesting is a minor tweak to improve the overall sound quality of your song.
Have you ever heard of gain staging? It is an approach one would take before a compressor or limiter is introduced into your song. The fact is, songs get louder as you mix them. Gain staging, in my opinion, addresses part of this problem. The goal is to have a full sounding song that does not rely on pushing the mixing gain sliders too high. Because in the end, your music followers will end up with a loud sounding song of yours, even at lowered volume levels by follower/listener.
So in summary, this is real talk, the transients of some of your mix buses are taking a beating due to loud channel bus mix settings. The end result? It is creating hard to listen to noise in the upper frequencies that sounds like distortion, which your visual WAV form confirms that, in my opinion.
Manuela, thank you for inviting me back to explain my earlier review. If the song is fine with you, then its fine with me. In this, real talk, I am simply pointing out things you might want to consider, in order to elevate your song to the next level. Manuela, we are all striving to get to that recording label sound, next level. All in all, you and your team compliment this site with your amazing songs and dedication to playing instruments, singing, creating music, and producing great songs. Well Done!

Hallo Manuela,
Deine Tochter hat voll das Schreibertalent ... wow. Und das Ding klingt gross, so wie all die guten grossen Balladen. Und obwohl du hier vier Stimmen aufgelistet hast, hoere ich dich klar heraus ...
Liebe Gruesse,
Micky
The lyrics are so sad!! But what an epic rock ballad, amazingly well played, sung and produced, though I've come to expect no less. Xstokes said it, you guys are impressively versatile with the music you create. Fantastico.
Very well done!
What a great listen!
Legendary!
Man...I feel like I could write an essay on what I just heard, heard twice actually bcuz I just started it over.....Nice instrumentation, lovely selection of notes and arrangement, and the general quality of the song as a whole is there, as is everything you upload....but this one is standing out to me, for all those reasons and more. Really well done, I'm going to show this one to some close friends who I know would enjoy It as well. Great work Manuela, and everyone who contributed to this one. -Aaron
Very beautiful guys!

Wow, that sounds really cool.
hi Manuela, you and the musicians surrounding you are genuinely versatile, i think you could handle any songbook out there. but then you dont need to, you guys have such an organic-seeming creativity shared amongst you. this is a moving piece, great songwriting and lyrical adaptation. the vocal arrangements are terrific and unnerving, what a great touch.
Awesome work. I love the layout and instrumentation. The vocals sound like top quality. I did have a little problem with either your saturation filter or distortion filter. Otherwise, very excellent.

I like this..It has the Guns n Roses vibe "November Rain"
Nice work!
