Paul, the track backing your vocals is pure fire! This takes me back to a period of very fond memories. Speaking of, may the great things that happens on this side of the battle (the victorious side) produce some fond memories in the future my good friend. Well well done Paul

I agree sir. Recieving critique from your peers in the field you work in is an invaluable tool, as long as ego doesn't get in the way. I let mine die years ago, and ive risen ever since. I understand completely. When someone takes the time to listen to a song, it means the world to me. Nice to make your acquaintance as well man. Peace

Great to meet you too Aaron, your words are comforting and i will always support you along with anyone here i will give constructive critique, its a pre-requisite, and the correct thing to do, i only want what's best for the artist and your listeners are the best judges, some forget that though, it also helps you adapt, I'm a dancer although i drum a bit, i stepped out my comfort zone, now i write songs and music, produce, stepped even further out and sang, im dreadful :))) but have so much fun with it. so your now fully caught up with the type of guy i am, I'm sure as our friendship grows we'll both learn more, peace bro.

    What's going on dimestop,
Loving what you did with this one, that beat is nice.
The project as a whole has a very nice feel to it, sounds like you had a lot of fun doing this.

Sorry your year hasn't been great, but it'll get better.
I tend to rate and grade my employer the same way they rate and grade me...I will walk in a minute if I feel like my best interest is not being addressed...and more importantly I understand that I'm just a number to them and they're just a paycheck for me...sounds fair.

but nobody talks down to me, including management i tell them to fuck off and walk out. its happened twice in the last year and ive only ever had 4 jobs, i also ask all the mouthy bastards outside, not the most intelligent thing to do :)))

Dime, I hope by now things are looking up for you. Sometimes, though, those shit situations are exactly what we need for inspiration and new starts. For a bullshit reason, I was laid off from my job in a steel mill after almost 20 years of loyal employment. At first, I was upset, but then I realized I had the opportunity to start over and do it how I wanted to do it. Not how society expected me to do it. Now, I run my own coffee roasting business and all is good.
I know how you feel about not seeing the regulars that you're used to here. Since I started here in 2012, I've seen some really cool people come and go. The crew that's here now is mostly a new one. I'm not even on here as much I used to be. But, running a business takes a lot of time. So, I pop in when I can.
As far as the music goes, don't let the bastards get you down, man. You keep pumpin' them out. That's how you win.

    Take care, mister.

yup it has some meat on the bone man no one is perfect and no one gets things right evertime someone who claims to say so is a fool anywayz man i like it and the rough bits like i always say and prob eveyone else practice makes better so they say still looking for that result myself lol. get your head around fl or abilton they are hard daws to suss but i think production wise they are up there. if you need any vst or vocal things just ask i have shit load of vst i still have not got round to using yet also look out for a programme called sundog its like a daw but its more for written tunes but its a gd thing to teach you how to lay out a song properly if there is a proper way.
i use audacity at the cough splutter final master stage it def makes a difference to the sound one you suss it also you can install 32 bit vst to audacity just not 64 bits.
anyway man id say be tough but we are born that way but at the same time its not a weekness to show emotion either your a gd een never forget that and last but not least Paul your not stupid and never class yourself that let other ppl down you like that but not yourself your better.
stay safe pal you guys are always on my fucking mind jeez!!!!

and i care, i so care, i care about everyone i know, even you virtual guys, i care about you all, your all part of my life, why wouldnt i. i try to be the best example of me dimestop is, Paul im afraid is a different kettle of fish he carries all the scars

Hey man it's a good song and your singing is definitely on the up. Good integration of your voice with the chorus vocals. Mix is pretty scratchy though, specially your vox. I only use reaper which comes with a heap of stock plug ins. For clean vox I usually have a combination of compressor, some eq, maybe a reverb. Or, I paid for the cheapest version of nektar (elements I think it's called, shaman77 put me onto that). Seems to work really well and fool proof which is good for me, being a fool who knows nothing... Hope things are looking up.

    dimestop
    Reply by dimestop

hey Chris you know me its all good fun, it didnt take long really this one, i was just pissed about my situation and messing with audacity . im might have a look at reaper, ive got FL latest thats got loads of plugins but this was really to let people know im still about and listening cos ive been missing for a few weeks. eventually i will get something that works better for me im still learning the important things and getting the right kit, unfortunately i cant buy a better voice :)) but i never ever imagined i would ever sing, ive been to loads of karaoke and would never dream of it, i just take the piss out of the singers, some of my mates are shocking ten times worse than me, they dont give a fook and just get up and do all the 80s and 90s stuff. the only thing i do in public is dance, i only sing here and thats because i can just be me and do something id be to afraid to do anywhere else because im shite, i only ever promote myself here with the guys dont do it anywhere else and thats only because of you guys. i expect critique and warmly welcome it, its hard to explain but this site has made me a better person, its made me far more graceful i know i can do better and will continue to improve, for me to share here and tell people of my life woes has been such a massive achievement in itself, others do it too, its a blessing in disguise, sharing only lightens the load you carry, but the folks here give me such encouragement, that there are good people out there with their own plights, we are spread all over the world and music is our common bond, you have been a good mate to me along with a host of others here, what you've all taught me is how humble you all are, that i will never forget, thanks mate

    Hiya Paul,

I have also used Audacity back in the day but to honest didn't like it I'm a reaper girl and still don't know everything about that daw haha...Anyways we never stop learning but I have to say I like the beat in any case it's a sweet! tune, you keep at it fella don't let the B's win keep moving forwards.

Sorry you lost your job, I had a female boss once when I was fresh out of school & this woman was one of the most vindictive & jealous trying to make work life hard for me but it didn't work she couldn't knock my work performance at all but I was applying for other jobs while I was there and got another position and better somewhere else, so, I graced her & her company with an "I Quit" she had the cheek to say everything was a misunderstanding, I don't suffer fools gladly I was out of there. Stay strong one door closes believe another one will open & it's not just a cliche beliueve it will.

P.S. I have not been here much at all, pop in now and again but honestly the place has been dry so good to see you posted something new. I myself have been enjoying mother nature coz the weather's been glorious! but I have asked our pal Robin If he has heard from Maj, was wondering if he's ok he has gone missing in action for a long time, Anyways hope he's doing well. NICE! Track Keep up the GREAT! Work!

thanks Angel i was always leaving this post i knew id made a mistake from day 2, it just took me by surprise i stayed 4 months. i certainly dont suffer fools gladly, they were crooks. never judge a book by its cover, ive known this firm for over 10 years, let me re-phrase that, i thought i knew them, ah but what goes on behind closed doors, now thats a different subject. i had a screwdriver poked in my face and told to focus day 2. unfortunately he ended on the lab floor face down with me threatening to rip his legs off and ram them up his arse if he ever invaded my space again, nobody spoken down to me then including the owner's but i walked out a month later i cant rip people off i couldnt live with myself. im no angel excuse the pun but im not a crook either
and yep the regulars are missing these days hopefully just taking a sabatical, at least i hope thats the reason yeh Maj and Sirefox for sure

Dang - went to read the lyrics and lost my comment

Ahh well life can be a little shit at times - glad you are starting to feel better and the song is triumphant.
I think your vocal performances are getter better and better - the mix with the your own and other backing vox is nice too. I think the levels are a little up and down on the main vocal track (it's not a big criticism - I cant even sing!). There is waves r-vox and waves vocal rider which if I understand it right are compressors that are configured for vocals - maybe try out the demo's and see if they make a difference. Sure others will have more clues. I had audacity years ago for editing other audio but havent used it forever but i remember it been a great piece of software. I used to really like the song rise above by the dirty projectors

I haven't done anything like that yet. Your vocals you'll get it I got to play around with audacity I haven't used it but I know it's a good I heard about it.
