Crispy mix on this one. I love those piano chords, super spicy. That little nylon string acoustic part is nice. I remember chunks of this from previous drafts a while back. Good spatial choices in the mix, feels live, which I'm sure you are going for.

    Keep it up, faved.

Hey Mark, most of the attention given to this track has been devoted to the production, which obviously is great. But honestly, what I most enjoyed was your chord voicings. There's something very angular about the recurring motive we hear in the horns, and in the piano especially those are some surprisingly sharp dissonances. It takes A LOT of skill to make those seem so natural and perfectly in place. (Salutes)

Cam, you know the creative process well. To bring a few complexities in with simple melodies and all of the little nuances that goes into a composition is the bread and butter of this work. Thats my joy here and Im most happy when what Im saying musically is being heard and interpreted well. Gratitude to you for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate your time. Peace.

Snelkku, thanks for the stop, listen, and your thoughts. You are right about the sax section which happens to be the inspiration behind this track. Now the drums took quite a bit because the snare and kick sound had to set in the mix just right. Its great you enjoyed this one.

    What's up Mark,

I know you know that this is probably in my top 5
of all your tracks I've heard. I don't think you used
strings in an earlier version that I heard. Those strings
make for a real full sound. I love it. I think Wayne was referring to Carly Simon's "Jazz Man" record. I hear it too.
Of course you added the MT touch to it. You have made me stop
saying "it can't get any better" Thanks.

    Great track. Faved..

    PEACE from the East...

Rob, weve come quite a ways from back in the day. This one makes me think of our guy Hamp. Months before he passed he told me this one he really liked so for me that was huge. Nonetheless you stopping by to check this improved version is appreciated. The strings and the synth/piano along with a plethora of new plug-ins improved the mix and I thank you for sharing your thoughts. The fave is no small matter. Peace

This is cool, relaxing and well put together Mark! What a nice piece, something we are all appreciative of. The piano at the end was neat, reminded me of a Carly Simon song which I can't remember the name of at the moment.

Do you use mastering software as a separate process or by mastering do you mean adjustments to your master track in your daw? Just curious.

    Take care!

Wayne, I appreciate your stop, listen, and feedback. I tackle mastering within the DAW. In my mastering plug-in chain Softubes Drawmer 1973 3 band compressor, Slate Digitals Air, and Hofas IQ Limiter. Ive used Izotopes Ozone 9 for remastering older tracks. Be safe and have a great weekend.

This is so smooth! as always. A lovely composition here that would suit any high class late night entertainment venue. Only thing is something is throwing me off with the horns/piano in the beginning or maybe that's just me but My fave part is that SHHHWWWEEEET! transition at around 1:10, man, that's some real ear-candy & it only gets better from then on, that sax tho! lawdy!...in any case another super classy track by you. So much work goes into your tracks it's evident when listening. Keep up the good work! Mark.

Angelus, Hey! It's wonderful you've stopped by. I trust that all is well with you and the fine family. And of course, you're holding everything down in the UK. Now big props for your comment about that irritating section at the beginning. I've corrected that so let me know if it's better. This is an updated version of one of my first compositions. Yep, this one got me airtime at a local radio station. Anyway thank you for your support and encouraging compliments. The fave is greatly appreciated. Be and stay safe always my friend.

Description : This song highlights a few different styles of jazz. First it starts with a kinda early 20s and 30s groove. Than it melds into a New Orleans style. Than into a sort of Maynard Ferguson big band jazz/rock groove, and finishing off with the 20s and 30s style again, all held together with some cool horns and bass. All n all, it's...Pretty Cool! Hope you like

Description : Do not freak out just because this is jazz! There's also blues, rock, funk and a little hip hop in it to break up the deep, chillout jazz sections - gets particularly rocking then funky at the end. Main bassline (the track's foundation) is recycled leftover slide resonator guitar parts detuned one octave to make a slide bass sound. Also features: piano, violin, hammered dulcimer, organ, ethereal pad guitar, bass guitar, jazz/blues/rock electric guitar and multiple programmed acoustic drumkits. This was difficult to make at times as I thought I needed more leads parts eg from sax or trumpet. But I'm happyish with the end result. I expect very little interest in this as it's both jazz and long jazz. But it's also an unusual type of genre-mixing jazz. So, leave your thoughts, good or bad, if you like...

Description : This track contains only free loops from Stayonbeat.com and several loops from Looperman artists (listed below). I "made a promise" that my next track will be use a lot of jazzy loops - well, i done with this track, for the great sadness of jazz lovers or experts i think - i fear they will never forgive me. :) While my ISP launches my internet out of the Earth system for a long time, i had to face the fact that i dont have too much downloaded jazz loops on my computer, so i think no wonder that this one is sounds like if i smoke some marihuana while making it. But hey, who cares, i like the result - it reminds me the (maybe only) really funny episode of "Breaking Bad", where Pinkman uses some heroin and flyes up with an idiotic smile on his face - that chapter is priceless. :D
I dont think this one needs a vocal, but ofcourse you can use it if you want, and as always, just write and i will give any support as i can. Any feedback welcomed too as always. Enjoy! UPDATE 2015.10.24.: improved audio quality - lower lows, higher highs. Now in 256kbps!

Description : Music by Antonio Carlos Jobim. This particular piano arrangement is from one of jazz sheet piano books I found on scribd. The electric piano is MrRay22 plugin which I played on Casio CDP220 digital piano. This is also a new piece that I learned today so it was quite tricky to get a proper touch at places and overall make the entire thing sound anywhere realistic. I tried many times and this was probably the best take. Also I am relatively new to playing latin piano music. I didn't manipulate any notes after recording - instead I added few virtual vintage amps. I choose jazz but it is a bossa nova latin style. Enjoy and feel free to comment and download.

Description : "Oh no - not jazz metal! You're not supposed to mix those genres together." Yes, but someone's got to and the musical gods have chosen me for the difficult task. 9 mins of instrumental jazz metal - damn I sure know how to write a hit song - US No 1 here I come. Anyway - there's some dark, swinging groovy jazz, with Rhodes and guitar as the main instruments, for a few minutes and then some haunting, thumping evil breaks loose. Look out for the powerful synth horn sound. And then it just gets heavier and heavier before returning to some nice chillgroove funky mystery jazz. Instruments played and/or programmed: electric guitar, bass guitar, electric cello, multiple programmed acoustic drumkits, filtered strings, Rhodes, big synth bass, evil synth horn and a few other assorted synths. I assume this has too much jazz for metallers and too much metal for jazzers. So, only for weirdoes like me who enjoy both. This will surely be too odd for most people but I like to think it's pretty interesting and powerful. Let me know how its weirdness worked for you...
