Not much really this song maybe took me 30 minutes to create with maybe 20 minutes of FX time given on top of that just to bring the drums and piano to life

The slower songs and especially R&B/Hip-Hop feel natural from me to create and the tune is always in my head before i sit down and play it out on the keyboard for 5 minutes to find the key range im after then yep the process on FruityLoops DAW is super fast as ive using that program for over 20years

    The song was made like this;

    Drums
    Piano
    Violin Strings
    Cor Anglais
    Vocal atmospheres
    Twinkly Synth

Then final effects and basic mixdown

Nothing to complicated as this song is not designed to be technical in construction but more importantly needs to flow the way i felt the song naturally should.

    Kind Regards,

My singing is coming to the world soon...just gotta ask China to mass produce ear plugs first:)

If you sing U2 "Without or Without You" verses before the piano..it fits like a glove.

    Cheers Terry

Cool! I like drum beat for intro cuz you keep the listener right off the bat as to hear what the vibe is going to be like. Very well done Eurphoricly a happy track!

    Thanks kindly CCC

Funny as the beat reminded me of the TopGun opening theme on the aircraft carrier i think Harold Faltemayer made that tune.

But its the strings section and my favourite orchestral instrument the Cor Anglais that to me sets the stage for a simply yet catchy piano progression that lets me go so many ways in choice of direction i could go with this song.

I like the sound of the drums, as well as pretty much everything else. This is great. One thing I will say is that I feel like one piano part is too loud, but I'm just a newbie, so don't listen to me. But overall, a really nice track. :-)

Your songs very nice indeed and welcome if youre new to Looperman Uwnk (its like the mafia - once your are in you go but never leave as over the years you will come back) lol

Thanks for listening & reminding me to trim the piano.

I feel the vibe here. I do think though that the mixing could been better. The drums sound really flat and lost. Bring more clarity to them with some EQ and compression. ALso, maybe the sound selection could help improve the overall quality.

    DJSLTUK
    Reply by DJSLTUK

Yep i understand exactly what you are saying....but heres the thing...the drums in this song need to be fairly flat as thats not the songs part thats going to be essential to the vocal layering that will naturally absorb alot of space and dynamic...once ive layered the vocals i will then split it and do a final mixdown for mastering......the wife asked me for a song from the heart and so i punched this out in less than 30 minutes as is.

The final version will be very dynamic and sonic surrounding i promise:)

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment .. i respect that 100%

Excellent work with incisive percussions that underline the soft and enveloping sounds of the strings and the piano. The feeling it conveys is that of a pleasant boat trip along a peaceful river with flowering trees growing along the banks. The sudden ending that is lost on the reverberation and that leaves a feeling of a path that continues reserving new future events is very guessed.
    A cordial greeting

    Thanks Stereo,

Alot of thought in your comment.

The reverb was kept tight to allow for the delay to carry the hi-hats and other parts...didnt want to use to much of both and lose the hi-hat effect.

    Kindest Regards,

    Simon

Once the vocals are layered the reverb makes sense:)

Description : This is for my friend Danke who can't sleep at night. Yes, heat, heat...I guess Africa is hotter, but don't let the title and intro as well, deceive you! This is not African music nor the imitation of it. It's just a picture of starry African sky at night, painted with my european musical sensibilities and some imagination. So this is for Danke in the first place and then maybe for anyone who would like to fall asleep.:)...
Good night!:)

Description : Dear Loopers...Let Ed and me take you to the world of yet another musical fantasy born out of our latest collab efforts. Ed provided basic structure of the track with ever solid rhythm section, tasty synths and vocal pads while I took
on a role of pretending to be multi-instrumentalist again by smuggling in some sweet strings, bulgarian flute, celtic harp,
unexpectedly blurry piano and this time a tiny bit of real live acoustic guitar...what an adventure for a vst/keyboard guy..:) As always
my sincere thanks to Ed not only for letting me enjoy his great musical company but also for still standing as one of the firm pillars of Looperman society !

Description : I went to the beach and set up my stereo recording mic under a gazebo near it (I apologize for some of the air gusts being recorded haha; we had a strong SE wind that day :P Tried my best to place it out of the wind); wanted to record myself playing live and do some cheesy roleplay in the process - wanted to make it feel like the listener was sitting there beside me. ** This is what the beach looks like: http://static.travel.usnews.com/images/destinations/80/south_padre_island_main.jpg **

Lo and behold, I'm about halfway through the song when my buddy Mark, a friend from college, heard me singing and decided to join me (he seems to never part with his guitar lol).

The expression on his face was that of confusion as to why I had my mic with me and a audio-capturing device, which I plugged into an outdoor electrical plug that the gazebo owners installed lol (I've done recordings like this before but didn't like the results; we messed up a little at the end but I was like meh it's not bad anyways.) but I'm glad he didn't say it out loud or it would have ruined the recording lol. Luckily, I was playing a song he and I wrote together some time ago, so he was able to just jump right in. He's a great guitar player.

Even though it was a little awkward at the end since we hadn't seen each other for like 4 months (you might be able to tell by the way I responded to his "thats so cool" comment haha), I think it turned out just fine. It was a lovely evening and the clouds were all poofy and happy. Lots of people were there too, though I made sure to sit far away from all of them. Ahh, it was a beautiful day. I'm glad I live by the ocean :P * Just kidding, I recorded this in my studio; though I do live close to the water, this was not recorded there :P I did everything, down to the wind blowing into the mic, except for the sound of water and the kids in the background. I got those sounds here: freesfx.co.uk/login/

The guitars and vocals were one-takes to give a more realistic feel. No pitch-correction or autotune. Just wanted to try making another soundscape (or whatever you want to call this :P) about what it's like to live by the ocean.

Description : Glen Cloy is one of the glens of Antrim (Tumbleweed's county) in Northern Ireland. The little people, actualy fairies, populate all of them and they all have very old ghost stories that have been told for centuries (and still are)...This one is about Shaman of old and his journeys through the spiritual world...That sums up what Ed told me about the concept for our 7th (how convenient^^) collab work. The main core of the track is Ed's work and the original length was 5:18, but I wouldn't have been Orlando if I didn't tempt to compose my longest intro to date (3:10) to inject my own fantasies about little creatures of Glen Cloy (soft spot for spiritual world..hehe..). Other than that I also added some synths arrangements and vocal samples for the rest of the track and probably ruined it a bit..haha..but that's how collabs are sometimes..:)^^.....All my thanks to Ed...and Irish ghosts ofcourse...
