Description : A collab with fellow Looperman, "dssdsdsd". He posted a pretty wicked guitar instrumental a while back of this song from KoRns Untouchables LP with a request for someone to mix it. I decided to give it a shot to complete the song. Wanted to stay true to the original as possible but didn't want a carbon copy so I tried a few ideas of my own. Added a bit of my own guitar, drums, keyboards, a lot of effects and even stepped up to the mic for a try at the vocals.

WOW! I have been a Kon fan since they started. I remember thinking... these guys will never have a 2nd album! lol Then, when Life Is Peachy came out, I remember thinking, well, they totally won't ever have a 3rd album. I have a Kon Tattoo on my right thigh just above my kneecap. I think your cover is perfect! Especially the vocals being kind of distant the way they are in the original. I really love how you matched the echo/distant sound with your voice perfectly. WELL PLAYED! This is perfect how it is & could not get any better, don't change a thing! I had to come check you out. You were so cool to say what you did about my stuff on the Looperlist that I wanted to see what you had going on over here. I'm impressed man. From one Kon fan to another... REALLY GREAT JOB MAN! Killer cover! -Bill Cowart of A69

Thanks so much for the comments Bill and I apologize for the long time to respond. I don't review enough. Its indeed nice to the positive take from a true KoRn fan. Makes it all worthwhile. I had a lot of fun working on this one.

    Great Work!
    Well mixed. Well played.
The vocals could be improved (production wise: sometime they sounds a bit distant) but I am nitpicking here.
    This is GOOD!
I really enjoyed some good "old school" metal ...even if I remember the times when we called this nu-metal... it is not so new anymore ;-)
    Take care. Domenico

Hey Dom, totally agree on the vocal assessment. Nitpicking is certainly welcomed. I'm still very much a noob where recording and mixing vocals are concerned. I processed the shit out of them to help mask some of the flaws in my performance too. Probably went a bit strong on the reverb and delay effects. I will give it another run through and see if some further adjustments might improve on it. Thanks for the listen and comment my friend.

Hell yeah man, this rocks and I think the mix sounds great! I am not a Korn disciple but I can sit here listening to this appreciating the effort by both of you to put this together. The vocals sound great, you should be singing more. The guitars are thick and well placed.

Not enough hard rock artists here uploading this quality of material. Kudos to both of you!

Hey Wayne great to get your take here man. Yeah KoRn is one of those rare or odd bands that's an acquired taste for some. The more I listened to them the more I liked them. Jonathan Davis' vocals are really unique. His style, tonal variation and conviction is hard to replicate. I didn't even try, just basically tried to cover his tonal path through the verses. The guitars are mainly Yans that I did some further EQ on and in some areas duplicated my own guitar with less distortion for some quad track power. I added some clean guitar to the middle bridge section and did the outtro guitar chugs. I also did a complete drum track and merged it in. Added all the cymbal crashes and closed hat rides. Did two different synth tracks for it and created a white noise track that I overlayed on the outtro. It was about two months of work. Of course a lot of it was working on the vocals which I will admit is not my strong suit. I don't sing much. But yeah I eventually got enough that I could go with so I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. But again, I have to give major props to Yan here, he deserves most of the credit, his guitar was the inspiration behind this and IS the foundation of the track.
Thanks so much Wayne we sincerely appreciate the positive review!

Daaammmnnn, Neo, you guys could take your act on the road. This is so solid, vocals are spot on, guitar work is epic. Mixed so so well. There is just not enough great metal on this site, but this one is definitely a great addition. Bro, this is seriously some of your best work vocally. I am thrilled to hear about Yan, now I can head over to his neck of the woods and check out another terrific guitarist that resides on the Loop. Added to favorites, and downloaded for those days on I-4 when traffic is moving at a snail's pace, haha. Well done gents!!!! I hope all is well. And thanks for the download, Neo.

Ha ha, thanks so much for the kind words there Bear. This was a real unique project for me and I cant say enough about Yans part in this. I mean it all centers around his guitar which laid the foundation. I have probably got as much time in this as I have put into anything I've done though. I wanted to post a link to Yans original track in the description but the new restrictions wont allow links. So I will post it here for everyone who might be interested in getting more of an idea of what actually went into it. I also want to add a link to KoRns original track which is totally killer.
So cool of you to give us such positive feedback on it Bear, its very much appreciated man.

Hey thanks Yan! I was a bit nervous pending your approval. Again, your guitar is the star here man. You nailed Munky's sound and chops to a tee bro. This was definitely a fun track for me even though I'm not doing much of what I normally do. Gave me a chance to focus more on other aspects. Its such a bad ass song to begin with. I really dig KoRn and loved the Untouchables LP. Some epic tracks on there and this song in-particular actually won them a grammy. Yeah the additional bass was done with the Shreddage Bass vst that I have had for a while. I have used it on a couple of my tracks and I think its quite good. Fieldy's original bass line is killer in this song, he plays with a lot of Funk styling, a lot of slapping technique. I recorded eight different versions of vocals for this and ended up slicing parts from all eight to form the final mix. I'm not entirely satisfied with everything here but overall feel it came out pretty good. Thanks so much for working with me on this and allowing me to use your track. I wouldn't have probably done it otherwise. By all means I hope you keep cranking out your instrumentals Yan. You rule brother !!

I bet this was fun to make ! Great job guys . sounds like you really got into it as you went along.Solid track ...cover some faith no more next :)

    Reply by Neomorpheus

Thanks bro, Yes very fun to make. I wanted to give more details in the description but the new limits wouldn't allow. So I want to emphasize here that most of what your hearing in here guitar wise is dssdsdsd (real name Yan). I ran across his instrumental a few months ago and was blown away. If you haven't already, you need to check out his tracks. He's got some killer stuff. The dude can play and he does a lot of covers. I added some subtle fills here and there, to put add some essential elements in bringing it closer to KoRns original. Created the outro and did the vocals which was no easy task. I used to sing a lot but primarily background vocals. This song is also right at the edge of my vocal range so I had to stretch it at certain points. Jonathan Davis is a tremendous vocalist but has such a unique sound and style. It was a challenge, but yeah a lot of fun. This song also holds some special meaning for me, so doing this also gives me some deep personal satisfaction. So yeah much thanks and major props to Yan for his track and being gracious enough to allow me to use it. And thanks to you for giving it a listen and commenting. Its very much appreciated.

Description : A collab with nicetones101. Dark , gritty and with questionable intent. crunchy riff driven guitars and atmospheric vocals weave together a solemn track.Hopefully we invoke some sort of emotion! \m/

Description : A collab with nicetones101 ! This has been awhile in the making, real life caught up with me and i had to take a little musical break. I looked over my past comments i received and i tried to put all the constructive criticism to work ! I turned the vocals up a bit , I also cut down on the effects and left a clean vocal track. I did want the chaos and the noise to still be a player in certain parts though. I tried to create two distinct atmospheres, an uneasy calm and a manic episode. I prefer headphones with this track as there is a lot going on at certain times.

Description : Psychedelic chillout stoner/doom epic. Badass heavy riffage and drumming plus big chillout vibes. Heavy electric guitar plus slow attack lead parts. Other beauty and ambience from filter swept violins, two synth pads and some subtle female vocal samples. Also bass guitar and sub bass. Two programmed, heavy drum kits and one lighter one, to fatten up the sound.

Tags : | Heavy Metal | 9.94 MB

Description : One of my greatest heavy tracks. What I find unusual is the amount of melodic and deep ambient guitar that sits on top of low, distorted riffs and fat, heavy drums. Very little synth work here apart from the sub bass, which plays almost throughout. Bass guitar in two sections and a couple of slide resonator guitar solos. Drums are a few programmed metal/rock kits, no drum loops. What I still have trouble believing and understanding is that all of the many vocal sounds in this are actually timestretched guitar parts (8x or 800% slower). I don't know why the timestretching adds such a clear vocal component to the sound. Gets darker and more intense in the middle (and towards the end) but this is otherwise quite melodic - perhaps in a way that might put off some metallers. Shitloads of guitar playing, some fairly badass, and lots of heavy, crashing drums so press play if you want to rock hard but also in a deep ambient, psychedelic way. Interesting thoughts and reflections are, as always, greatly appreciated. Detailed comments preferred...

Description : I discovered Meshuggah around 2003 and was blown away by the power, complexity and super Heavy sound of their music. Their "Nothing" album marked the switch to 8 string guitars and pushed Heavy Metal into a whole new territory. My track is a variant cover of their song "Nebulous". I have stayed pretty close to the original but added a few dynamic elements of my own. Its loud, its super heavy and way out there...Beyond Nebulous.

Description : This unconventional metal track is dedicated to Valvedriver though it's not a parody of his fine music or me actively trying to sound like it. I struggled for months with the first few minutes of this track knowing that I must be able to take it somewhere deeper, more psychedelic and powerful. Then I loaded some sampled choir voice instruments, as used in my track Reckful and suddenly found myself happily in Valveland - not a place I visit often. Feeling amply Valvedriven and newly inspired, I added the last few minutes fairly easily and very quickly. So: it's a twisting, turning mixture of grunge, menacing ambient, mystical metal and ultra-heavy funk. Instruments: electric guitar+bass, synth basses, female choir voices, one synth pad, some other synths on the nastier side of things and a few programmed heavy acoustic drumkits playing a mixture of triplets and straighter grooves. Interesting thoughts appreciated. Favourite bits? Shit bits? Please listen on good headphones/speakers as there's a lot of heavy bass in this. Now get ready to rock: balls out, hands in the air and with rebellious joy in your heart. Just try not to headbang the hell out of your laptop. Go!
