    Hello, My Friend!

What a beautiful track. The bass is so hypnotic; a perfect tune to listen to while chilling in a hammock!

used reverb and light delay on the bass, that's why you felt it's hypnotic...otherwise the bass play is fairly one-sided...

I read that you used a Peavey Foundation bass, my first bass was a Peavey Foundation S, made a couple years before yours. Great neck, good tone. I beat the crap out of mine, gave it away. ha.

Cool track, the bass has a clean bright tone. The track has a darker mysterious, almost a sci-fi feel to it. The electronic bits add a lot.

    Always a pleasure!

    Hi Danke,

You had me with the first few bass notes. I love playing bass, and I love how you feature the instrument so prominently on this tune. Hell yeah, I'm biased about the bass. Then you threw an organ in there too at about 2:18?
And added harmonics at the end?
Just do the damn thang man, DO YOUR THANG.

Gotta mark this as a fave. This makes think of James bond meets Twenty One Pilots, which is a very good thing. Great job.

that good, old bass made a job here...I'm not a cool player, just like the harmonies alongside with the groovies...

Nice to hear this one from you Danke :) Love the bass tones, makes me want to pick up my bass and start practicing with it. What pickups do you have in your bass and what model is it? It has a nice tone I've been having difficulty getting a fat sound like that.

Thank you for this nice trip. Enjoyed it from start to end. Love the intro and outro, could play it ni a loop for an hour this way. You are capable of setting a great light dark atmosphere that carries and directs my thoughts throughout the duration of the track.

The glitching elements are a nice and creative addition. As for the solo, I do like the melody line. Just wondering what it would feel like if you would leave out swing here. The beat and rhythm of the track is very much focussed on the first and third count, the hats, little synths and bass emphasize this rhytm. Then all of a sudden I hear this (major) swing appear in your solo. Also, I'd be curious for how this solo would sound if you would play less notes on the beat and shift a few of them 1/16th left or right. It might get a bit more organic feel.

Just my thoughts, minor details on a great and wonderfully composed piece.

I get the psychedelic sounds, the bass line reminds me of the San Francisco sound that Jefferson airplane and moby grape made popular. But what also interested me was the minimalism you provided which is not normally associated with psychedelic music from that era, so hats off to you.

A superbly chilled and deeply sublime track danke. You and StaticNomad seem to be on the same wavelength with your most recent endeavors. Both masters of your particular instruments, I thoroughly have enjoyed sampling what two of the most talented musicians in the house have bestowed upon us currently. Anyone new to Looperman and not yet familiar with these chaps need to take note and go check out more of their tracks. I really enjoy the deep tonality of this piece. The bass is undoubtedly dominant throughout and provides the heavy, darker elements of the melody. Its an easy, very comfortable and hauntingly beautiful piece of music. The minimal, simplistic nature of it makes it easy to overlook just how expertly this is arranged and produced. That outro is almost sex man. I love it !!!

Very nice track. Really good bass tone. Sounds like new strings!

0:21 I love that gentle, melodic riff and the pads are good. And then a nice, fat but chilled beat begins.

1:04 good synth and more nice, simple bass playing.

1:37 simple new melody. This is really a simple but effective, chilled out, groovy track.

    2:18 cool, new lead synth.

    Good, melodic bass ending.

Sorry - no criticism or suggestions. Well produced, simple and melodic but never boring.

    Hey Danke.
You have a way of playing and mixing bass that really shows off how awesome an instrument it is. You can really hear it here. The melodies are so creative and all the instrumentation around the bass adds texture. This song takes you on a dark, yet pleasant trip. Deep, bluesy and cerebral. Then that outro is an emotional gut punch. Like a come down. I really love it. Instant fave.

I always like to play small melodies on the bass but in the live band I'm not able to present that...we play some kinda AC/DC, The Cult music and the bass is very 'primitive' on that songs in a good way of course...

Description : I may have mentioned to a few people that I had recorded an EP to cassette tape in November. The thirty minute, seven track tape was recorded on 14th and 15th November (during that excellent full moon). My process, this time, involved choosing a group of instruments from my main studio, and then interfacing them in a way that allowed me to perform a spontaneous track live. There was no planning, and each track was only given attention until the previous was lain on tape. All in all, it was a very rewarding experience to create "on a whim" like this. No DAW was used to create the sounds, or to perform/arrange them. All instruments were mixed in real time, and the output was forever dedicated to the magnetic medium. All of these songs were instrumental, and not traditional in their performance. This is a digital capture of two songs from the EP - "Agonist Moon" and "Faultline" - They are the last track of Side A and the first track of Side B. If you are not familiar with those terms... they indicate the direct physical and psychological experience of interacting with recorded media in order to play it in it's entirety. "Agonist Moon" was described by my wife as an "Icaro," which is a tribal shamans healing song in certain cultures. "Faultline" is more of a peak minimal technological shift into the rest of the EP. UPDATE - The entire Agonist Moon EP digital re-master is now available here... https://spivkurl.bandcamp.com/album/agonist-moon-ep
Description : UPDATE 3/31/2016 - Did some work on the mix and master thanks to the advice of Crucethus and promenade2239. I knew something needed work, and it turned out I need some shifting in the time-space continuum. Thanks to everyone who commented so far!

Original DESC - Yes, I admit it... I fall down. Different circumstances and results each time, but it does happen. Got some inspiration in the last week or two, and left behind some other responsibilities for a while to make this track. Did a considerable amount of multisampling of a Realistic C1000 to add to the song. This is the first song I've finished which uses my modified Korg Monotribe. Also contains Microkorg (on glitch percussion and vocoder use), Yamaha ys-200, Zoom RT-123, and my modular synth doing circuit bent voice synth duties. Psychedelic, dark cold wave. EDIT: Now that I think about it, there were no virtual synths involved in this composition, but only virtual samplers and effects. Everything else was MIDI and hardware sound source. Thank you for listening! Please leave a comment and I will return the favor!

Description : OK, I finally managed to find a song name, so here it is. But the genre is still open. WTF is it? World? Trip? Trance? Rock? psychedelic? .

I started this song with the wahwah background track, I think I wanted to go in the triphop direction but when I played with it and tried out things I added some Tabla sounds from the available sound library of the cubase software to it, just to get a feel for it. It sounded right somehow, and so it developed from there. As before, we did the work on wikiloops band section: bhunt1 (Brian) on Bass added his track, and rp3drums (Raymond) on drums (one straight drum track, and one para-diddle track). I then added several more guitar tracks.

So I would be happy to listen to your comments and advice, and if I get a good suggestion for name and genre I will change it. Cheers, TG :D

Description : One of several live in studio tracks which I recorded in recent weeks. This one incorporated my DIY modular synth and a modified Yamaha DD-20 as the only instruments. The DD-20 was, in part, triggered at audio rates, enabled by the the input modifications. Not quite the usual spivkurl track which you may be accustomed to. I'm putting this in psychedelic, though it could easily fit into ambient, glitch or cinematic genres.
Description : The results of six hours in a psychotropic environment which was novel to my experience. Only fixed some minor mistakes and mastered the song after I left the environment (or after it left me). It tugs at passion as a dog biting a dress. Resentment and discontent are its language. Slice of life tragic comedy, with a psychedelic edge.

Description : Far out, cello-based, deep grooving, progressive, powerful and sometimes aggressive sci fi epic with lots of electronic elements and some dubstep craziness towards the end. Electric cello, slow attack guitar, resonator guitar, a little bit of bass guitar, 5 synths, lots of effects and drum loops and a few programmed drum kits. It all began with the first couple of cello riffs (one pizzicato bassline, one bowed main riff) and the hip hop beats and then grew and grew as I added more synths and drums and worked in some old, leftover guitar parts. It's very detailed and complex and the mix and sculpting of the sounds are as important as the composition. Have a good listen then come back and let me know what you thought of this twisting, turning journey into outer space. Feel free to criticise and/or tell me your favourite parts...
Description : I walked for miles, and what seemed like millennia in order to find the inspiration for this song, and subsequently the album which it helped finalize. It is an essential title track for me, even if it is encoded.

Here is the artwork in question.

A twenty-two month experiment,

Combining infinite expansion with absorpsion and inhibition.

A two thousand mile walk to the place I call home.

A home to be myself and room to roam.

A bone, and a stone, all alone and unknown,

But aglow, and beloved,

Here the sun and snow shown.

The album is available here, for the time being....

Description : I tried to make a 'doom cello' track but failed as the chillout vibes really took over but there is still some heaviness as well as a few minutes of dance music in the final sections. It's very moody and atmospheric and dominated by strings and drums. 120BPM but most of it is half that tempo. Lots of my electric cello playing though there are also sample-based string parts, especially the foreboding, drone bass - the only bass instrument in the track. Other pad sounds add some mystical, spacey beauty while an arpeggiated VST guitar instrument adds a progressive band feel in the first half. Drums are two programmed kits and mostly one hard rock/metal kit. Also one drum loop plus two music loops towards the end. I very rarely use music loops but they seem to work here. Let me know what you think of this progressive epic. Sorry it's so long but hopefully it justifies its length. It's definitely far out and difficult to place in any particular, obvious genre.

Description : Psychedelic, Eastern, dark dance/jazz/fusion based around my cello playing with only minimal other instrumentation. There are two sections of electric guitar, one section of Fender Rhodes, one synth pad, some swirling female vocal samples and one sub synth bass. Apart from multiple drum loops and programmed acoustic drumkits, everything else is cello, including most of the weird sounds. If something sounds weird, it's probably bowed cello. Lots of layers of overlapping cello parts here, including a proper bassline 0:19-1:17 (that's the cello going through an octave pedal) and some 'beyond the fingerboard' alien harmonics in the fast swing jazz sections. The drums keep changing, moving through at least 4 or 5 styles to keep things interesting, concluding on a slow, shuffle blues style. This isn't perfect but I'm not sure what else I can do to improve it. Interesting and hopefully intelligent thoughts and reactions are, as always, much appreciated. Get ready for a dark, psychedelic journey...

Description : This is a song about standing up for what you love! Keep growing! All parts were composed and/or played by me, including guitar. All lyrics and vocal recordings are Spivkurl.
Description : I wrote this song this weekend and recorded it last night with Sunny War on vocals and guitar. (We've got a backload of 10 or so songs but I'm a shiny-object kind of guy.) We kept almost the entire loop orchestration and there are some great loops here. The whole thing is built on looperman-l-0208341-0068163-drmistersir-lonesome-freaky 80 which runs throughout. Mixed with that for the first half is the crazy choral looperman-l-0911223-0101152-silencekills-key-5-pad-81-fs-min across 3 octaves. The musical bridge before the outro is built on the great loop looperman-l-1264531-0079769-arixxonsc-sequence-old-school-escape. My instruction to Sunny was "Play the guitar like it's wrestling with that loop." Sunny plays bass but we also kept looperman-l-1059144-0070847-ebaby8119-the-move-808-bass to go with it. Then there are a couple great bell loops and a choral chant loop at the end, and then of course all the drums. One of the rare times we've kept most of the loops and just wove Sunny's guitar into the orchestration. We even kept one of the guitar loops, looperman-l-1059144-0068323-ebaby8119-the-question, because it's perfect for that moment. I think this song launched a 4th album to be called PATH. Any comments or reactions are greatly appreciated. You're the first folks to hear any of this stuff and this community is instrumental (literally) in making it happen.
