See, this is the stuff I used to love to listen to. Because it forces all the craziness and stress and pressures from the day leave your body, your shoulders start to drop and before you know it you feel better. It's good to see you are still at it and at it good Sir! :-)

Hello there Miss Patricia and yes, the Lord has truly blessed you. I miss the good ole days here. You were part of that time. In any regard I have returned to my proud roots. But I would love to make a gospel track with you someday before my grey hair overtakes me. I am not caring too much for popular music these days just music that makes people and myself feel good. In any regards it is good to see around here too. May Jesus' love continue to guide you on this spiritual journey we call life. Thanks for the review. Joe

Hey Joe...cool man! nice mix, I can tell you've spent some serious time on this one, it's not quite smooth jazz in the strictest interpretation of the term being way too funky and up front for that moniker! haha....there's quite a lot of influences going on here, I'm hearing a steady Motown undercurrent which is something not many people can get naturally, if you've got it flaunt it I always say, a great tune man and I will repeat myself by saying the mix is excellent, there's a persuasive edge happening which is impossible to ignore and not enjoy...excellent!

    Reply by JoeFunktastic

Dave thanks man! You know I am way overdue to evolve into more age appropriate music. Some of the young kids here want me to stay in Hop-Hop, give me a break! I let that go on way to long man, I was doing hip-hop mostly for the kids. I would rather have smaller audience that I may have entertained and connected with rather than having a bunch of wild kids running around smoking pot and using explicit language. Even my son said: "Dad, you use to make cool music", I just laughed Dave. If I am called old, I don't care, kind of like a complement to me now, ha ha ha! Really! But anyways, I am taking my own advice and that is be yourself. And yes the soul and the Motown influences is what I heard back in my days, songs of love and respect with heart. They were played extremely well. People could really sing back then and now we got vocal pitch correction technology because people like Beyonce cannot sing. No wonder so many young live acts lip-sync on their live tours, but never Boss, Bruce Springsteen or David Bowie. But anyways I never thought I'd become my parents, rambling on about the glory days, ha ha ha. Well,I got it now Dave and they may have had a point. Hey thanks for the review. Joe

Smoooooth is the right word...but def has that soulful MrFunktastic vibe and a wee touch of R&B with a funky kind of teaser...whatever you call it (I`m no good at genres) I really am diggin it Joe...its the kind of stuff I could put on loop play & just go about the day with a smile & a bit of a skip in the step..I`ll just listen...you can play on my radio all day man.....Ed (PS: I did a track with a piano loop of yours (built around your loop)..not sure about uploading as I couldn`t quite find/make a contrasting piano part to match..I`ll shoot it over your way if you want...BUT...one of these days I`m going to do a track with some sounds from our meistro of funk...cheers)

Hey Ed! That was tremendously kind to say that. Just doing what I do bro. Glad you noticed how I funked things up here a bit. I got to keep things interesting man. I hope all is good. Me, never better. Thanks! Joe.

Ha ha, when that brass patch kicked in, my mind instantly said "smooth jazz." This part especially gives this a very eighties jazz feel to me... which is of course one of my least favorite types of jazz, however you've made this sound good within the construct. This definitely has the funktastic stamp on it throughout, which is always enjoyable. It does go really well with my morning puff, and something calming is good on the full moon, so thank you for that. Around 3:20 things change up in an unexpected way, and I'm digging the progress! Trying not to pick apart instrumentation, as I often tend to do! The mix and master sounds pretty cool, and I like how my volume knob responds with this track (something I look for in an mp3 especially). All in all, I like this song, and most especially the second half. Be proud of your skills, my man!

    Reply by JoeFunktastic

Hey thanks Spiv. The post production took much longer than the mix almost three times as long. I mean, you are a mastering expert, the kids today who are making songs man just don't get it when it comes to mastering. I know people who do 3 songs a day which is crazy.

I take weeks now to finish one song because what I found as far as sound quality goes in my first master never sounds correct the following day when I wake up. I have learned to be patient and I never release unmastered or pre-release songs which are very hard to listen to.

But yeah, now that I am in my advanced years I just want to do more mature adult themed music. Well I truly appreciate the review man. Thanks! Joe

Description : This song highlights a few different styles of jazz. First it starts with a kinda early 20s and 30s groove. Than it melds into a New Orleans style. Than into a sort of Maynard Ferguson big band jazz/rock groove, and finishing off with the 20s and 30s style again, all held together with some cool horns and bass. All n all, it's...Pretty Cool! Hope you like

Description : Do not freak out just because this is jazz! There's also blues, rock, funk and a little hip hop in it to break up the deep, chillout jazz sections - gets particularly rocking then funky at the end. Main bassline (the track's foundation) is recycled leftover slide resonator guitar parts detuned one octave to make a slide bass sound. Also features: piano, violin, hammered dulcimer, organ, ethereal pad guitar, bass guitar, jazz/blues/rock electric guitar and multiple programmed acoustic drumkits. This was difficult to make at times as I thought I needed more leads parts eg from sax or trumpet. But I'm happyish with the end result. I expect very little interest in this as it's both jazz and long jazz. But it's also an unusual type of genre-mixing jazz. So, leave your thoughts, good or bad, if you like...

Description : This track contains only free loops from Stayonbeat.com and several loops from Looperman artists (listed below). I "made a promise" that my next track will be use a lot of jazzy loops - well, i done with this track, for the great sadness of jazz lovers or experts i think - i fear they will never forgive me. :) While my ISP launches my internet out of the Earth system for a long time, i had to face the fact that i dont have too much downloaded jazz loops on my computer, so i think no wonder that this one is sounds like if i smoke some marihuana while making it. But hey, who cares, i like the result - it reminds me the (maybe only) really funny episode of "Breaking Bad", where Pinkman uses some heroin and flyes up with an idiotic smile on his face - that chapter is priceless. :D
I dont think this one needs a vocal, but ofcourse you can use it if you want, and as always, just write and i will give any support as i can. Any feedback welcomed too as always. Enjoy! UPDATE 2015.10.24.: improved audio quality - lower lows, higher highs. Now in 256kbps!

Description : Music by Antonio Carlos Jobim. This particular piano arrangement is from one of jazz sheet piano books I found on scribd. The electric piano is MrRay22 plugin which I played on Casio CDP220 digital piano. This is also a new piece that I learned today so it was quite tricky to get a proper touch at places and overall make the entire thing sound anywhere realistic. I tried many times and this was probably the best take. Also I am relatively new to playing latin piano music. I didn't manipulate any notes after recording - instead I added few virtual vintage amps. I choose jazz but it is a bossa nova latin style. Enjoy and feel free to comment and download.

Description : "Oh no - not jazz metal! You're not supposed to mix those genres together." Yes, but someone's got to and the musical gods have chosen me for the difficult task. 9 mins of instrumental jazz metal - damn I sure know how to write a hit song - US No 1 here I come. Anyway - there's some dark, swinging groovy jazz, with Rhodes and guitar as the main instruments, for a few minutes and then some haunting, thumping evil breaks loose. Look out for the powerful synth horn sound. And then it just gets heavier and heavier before returning to some nice chillgroove funky mystery jazz. Instruments played and/or programmed: electric guitar, bass guitar, electric cello, multiple programmed acoustic drumkits, filtered strings, Rhodes, big synth bass, evil synth horn and a few other assorted synths. I assume this has too much jazz for metallers and too much metal for jazzers. So, only for weirdoes like me who enjoy both. This will surely be too odd for most people but I like to think it's pretty interesting and powerful. Let me know how its weirdness worked for you...
