Description : While I concluded the previous year with the shortest track ever uploaded it seemed only appropriate to begin the new one with my longest track ever. And funny enough I used one and only instrument for this noodling marathon, the celtic harp....and I really couldn't help it, it was just dragging on and on and on...haha...so I think that anyone who could possibly listen to this from start to finish must be a real listening hero..:)^^

I agree - it certainly goes on a bit The harp sound is lovely and sometimes when you find that something works well it's nice to go around a few more times. This is very relaxing and would make an excellent backdrop for meditation. Very nice - I enjoyed it.

Very beautiful performance contained in this epic piece! I'm really impressed with the complexity of this, especially while keeping much restraint (or so it seems). It is especially reminiscent of a different time, and that is comforting. Just super pleasing throughout. I only wish people weren't bothering me during listening. Great stuff! Fave!

There is something about your use of panning, intimacy and space that create such incredible depth in this one. The slight hiss from the electronics being picked up in the recording added a nice close touch. Felt like this was being played in my brain. Kudos to you for making me feel vulnerable lol. You got in my brain :D (I listened to it all the way through :P) An absolutely emotive piece, cheers!

After listening this track for the 2nd time complete i must say there is something mystical and medeival about it. The sound is very serene that floats like a butterfly through a rainy forest on a summermorning. And that with just 1 instrument. Orlandy, my mate, you again made a 9 darts finish!

I gave this a few listens as I welcomed my morning ritual of chores and coffee to get me started. Playing music can sometimes carry me through hours of the day while not really paying attention attentively, more like absorbing it through osmosis, he, especially if the music isn't familiar to me. New age music is like that and sometimes acid jazz can help create a certain atmosphere around the house and put my mind in a good place to paint or to think on an issue to resolve.

To me music should challenge the listener and evoke some kind of emotional response, good, bad or indifferent. I tend to make shorter pieces to convey my idea as a challenge but a long piece also has its challenges as has been mentioned in the comments, especially with one instrument. This certainly effects the listener and can be interpreted in many ways I think.

Well played, going to dl this, nice piece of work!

Wow, Wayne...a few listens even...this is truly impressive attention for such a long track produced by an amateur
'musician' like me. Yet I can completely understand your point when saying "not really paying attention attentively, more like absorbing it through osmosis". When I listen that way myself I often find it as the easiest way to find out whether I like a certain piece or not. Maybe it's a bit difficult to explain, but i think that the best sections of the tune attract the attention of a listener exactly when not listening attentively! To me this counts even more when I fall in some kind of half-sleep state with my headphones on.:)

Otherwise I would like to return to shorter pieces to make things more concise although I think it won't happen over night, but gradually , I hope.:)...It's just difficult to suddenly cut off with some stubborn habbits..hehe..

Thank you so much for listening and for this lovely feedback! Many thanks also for the 'fav' and 'dl'!

    Bonjour Orlando ....
From the first measure, we are bewitched by harmonies that emerge here. Just over 9 minutes to extreme, and an atmosphere that allows us the trip .... It is too early for me to accompany me on this trip with a pint of beer (as our mutual friend below) .... the rain behind the windows is sufficient for me .... Nostalgia and melancholy could be a good definition for this track.

One instrument is all that is needed when it is played with feeling and the skill you bring to it Orlando...it is a bit unusual to hear the harp featured and it does as danke mentions approach the classical and always to my mind seems to convey the feeling of fantasy...I did indeed enjoy it all the way, and it can`t be too long as I still haven`t (quite) finished the pint of local beveridge I started just before I hit "Play":......salute.........Ed

    Orlando51
    Reply by Orlando51

"The feeling of fantasy"...that's exactly what the harp evokes to me! So Orlando is probably living in some LaLa
land, more and more detached from reality, not to mention the soft spot for skirts and blonde wigs...HaHa...but sometimes is quite nice to be there, particularly when having the date with the Muse....and why not to give the harp a chance once for a change? ^^

My dear friend, you have probably read all those comments first before listening and you needed a drink to survive this spaghetti noodling with the harp...and it probably even sounded a bit better that way...HaHa...

In any case, my friend, many thanks again for your continuous attention and support...means the world!:)

    Secretive greetings.

This is a really awesome, cultured, elegant, beautiful and classy piece.

I'm a bit confused how, after a few minutes, it hasn't got boring. Sounds like you're sort of doing the same stuff on the same instrument but it's still mysterious and intriguing.

No way I could manage that on one instrument. I'd have to bring in 9 million others and varied beats, as I usually do.

Lots of skill required to be minimal and still interesting.

Maybe it is too long in the end or could have done with some other instruments being added but it's kind of hard to criticise something like this. I didn't actually manage to listen to it in its entirety. Then again, I have no idea how many people manage it with my long ones.

    Big congrats.

    Orlando51
    Reply by Orlando51

Hello there and happy new year !

Well, that was my biggest concern what will turn out in terms of a single instrument doing a marathon, but I deliberately wanted to take on that challenge and at first i thought I can compensate the lack of instrumental diversity with plenty overdubs, but I was wrong....in the end I removed a vast portion of them from the mix realising that my harp is doing its best in terms of peculiar isolation, however some overdubs were there to stay. "I'm a bit confused how, after a few minutes, it hasn't got boring". Believe it or not I'm sharing this confusion with you. I know many people will find it boring to death, and rightly so...haha...but when someone is really willing and prepared to listen (and I mean listen) such a thing, then he might forget how long this stuff actually is.

Regarding all aforementioned points, your generous review is a pleasant surprise and I have to say big thank you for that!:)

You're catching up to myself and Static Nomad ;) Sometimes they just don't want to conclude and keep going and going like the energizer bunny! Maybe we can get you a blonde wig and a long skirt and you can play for us while sitting in a lush, magical garden? Beautiful... the music that is! LOL!! So ethereal and relaxing. Shortest song I ever heard was 'Dead' buy Napalm Death, it's 1 second long hahaha Longest, that's hard to say as some classical pieces can go on and on.

    Orlando51
    Reply by Orlando51

Haha...great idea about a skirt and the wig no matter the aesthetic results.:) First I had in plan a few shorter pieces with harp, but then it turned out this way cause I just couldn't stop...lol...so the next harp piece will have to wait a bit in order not to put out more of the same in a short period of time, but I will surely return with the skirt and the wig in some reasonable time.

    Hello Orlando.
    Well played!

I could see you sitting there and watch you playing. In a lovely long skirt and with long blond hair :) Your eys where closed and your mind was millions of miles away. Could it be that there where some fairys dancing around, in the fog that came from the lake of mystery and that shined golden in the light of the slowly sinking mother of life? What a beautiful moment it was, watching you playing this nice little improvisation in your nice skirt, there where the fairys dance.

    I realy enjoyed the listen

Description : I went to the beach and set up my stereo recording mic under a gazebo near it (I apologize for some of the air gusts being recorded haha; we had a strong SE wind that day :P Tried my best to place it out of the wind); wanted to record myself playing live and do some cheesy roleplay in the process - wanted to make it feel like the listener was sitting there beside me. ** This is what the beach looks like: http://static.travel.usnews.com/images/destinations/80/south_padre_island_main.jpg **

Lo and behold, I'm about halfway through the song when my buddy Mark, a friend from college, heard me singing and decided to join me (he seems to never part with his guitar lol).

The expression on his face was that of confusion as to why I had my mic with me and a audio-capturing device, which I plugged into an outdoor electrical plug that the gazebo owners installed lol (I've done recordings like this before but didn't like the results; we messed up a little at the end but I was like meh it's not bad anyways.) but I'm glad he didn't say it out loud or it would have ruined the recording lol. Luckily, I was playing a song he and I wrote together some time ago, so he was able to just jump right in. He's a great guitar player.

Even though it was a little awkward at the end since we hadn't seen each other for like 4 months (you might be able to tell by the way I responded to his "thats so cool" comment haha), I think it turned out just fine. It was a lovely evening and the clouds were all poofy and happy. Lots of people were there too, though I made sure to sit far away from all of them. Ahh, it was a beautiful day. I'm glad I live by the ocean :P * Just kidding, I recorded this in my studio; though I do live close to the water, this was not recorded there :P I did everything, down to the wind blowing into the mic, except for the sound of water and the kids in the background. I got those sounds here: freesfx.co.uk/login/

The guitars and vocals were one-takes to give a more realistic feel. No pitch-correction or autotune. Just wanted to try making another soundscape (or whatever you want to call this :P) about what it's like to live by the ocean.

Description : Glen Cloy is one of the glens of Antrim (Tumbleweed's county) in Northern Ireland. The little people, actualy fairies, populate all of them and they all have very old ghost stories that have been told for centuries (and still are)...This one is about Shaman of old and his journeys through the spiritual world...That sums up what Ed told me about the concept for our 7th (how convenient^^) collab work. The main core of the track is Ed's work and the original length was 5:18, but I wouldn't have been Orlando if I didn't tempt to compose my longest intro to date (3:10) to inject my own fantasies about little creatures of Glen Cloy (soft spot for spiritual world..hehe..). Other than that I also added some synths arrangements and vocal samples for the rest of the track and probably ruined it a bit..haha..but that's how collabs are sometimes..:)^^.....All my thanks to Ed...and Irish ghosts ofcourse...

Description : It's been a while since my last upload, yet here is finally the new one and it's 'dangerous' as it gets cause this time I ultimately decided to dedicate this thing to my dear friend Ed, the man well known to Looperman audience as Tumbleweed.. He has been my huge inspiration for those past few years and always will be. Luckily we've made some pretty decent stuff together and more is to come. Working with Ed helped me to improve alot and this composition is now my way of saying 'thank you' to him and music should express my gratitude better than words....One might expect this will be Irish (or Celtic) music, but it's not necessarily the case...as the title suggests it's merely the touch of it....it's like a mirage in the highland mist and it's full of orlandesque crap to be honest...haha...yet I decided to include a tiny snippet of a famous traditional Irish song at the very end of the track and I bet you will recognize it instantly ...particularly for the lads with Irish roots this shouldn't be a problem...:) So, Ed...put your headphones on and be merciful my friend...:)

alternative mix of the track...and hell yeah, I think it sounds much better now !:)
