Description : It is ALMOST Christmas.
Everywhere soft flushed music.
Therefore, I have taken some handmade
guitar loops of Phatkatz,
played some on the organ.
Taken a really well-known text.
classic Christmas carol of German.
-Am Weihnachtsbaume- at Christmas tree.
Then sung this text novel.
Some EQ and sure lots of FX and mixing.
Finish is the funky new Christmas song.
Key is, in this way you still have not heard a christmas carol before.
Have fun and a special Christmas time.

I think Dan is asking if you layered your vocals to get that effect. Now this is my kind of Christmas carol! :p I think I'll try and gather these tunes up for a Christmas Cd. I did one a few years ago of all Looperman holiday tunes that I handed out to some friends.

Lets see what we can do in this new/fresh 2017. Hopefully some cool and good stuff. I am still in the mode for some Joe&Burt stuff :)

stay tuned and have a great 2017

a great way to find inspiration for a track Joe. Your collaborations with Phatkatx continue to be fruitful. I like the dark vibe, the repetitive, almost trancelike vibe. Your voice is cool as usual. I guess you mixed two tracks of your voice?

    Nice job. Regards, Dan

    Hey Dan
thanks for your friendly words about the colabs with Burt.
Also good to know that you could enjoy my singing.
I don't get what you mean with this -mixed two tracks of your voice- but i can tell you that this track was composed really in the way you can hear it here.

have a nice christmas and stay tuned

Definitely dark sounding. Man you got a deep voice. Now what I liked:

-Deep bass. It was deep but clear in my opinion. Did you blend a bass with a sub bass, or was it just a sub bass?

-The way the lead guitar worked. I don't know what you did, but it felt like guitar waves coming at me from side to side.

-Toms were audible and clear. I don't care what anyone does if they take care of their toms that's an automatic A++++ from me.

    Good job

No complains here, but I wish I would have heard some high gain distortion on the guitar for a truly dark christmas lol. Just personal preference. I like my distortion a lot.

    Reply by joecramer

I got some steems played by Phatkatz on his 5 string bass and guitars. I used a part of the bassline and EQed it a bit and then i used some subbass on it

The rythem guitar(s) where made from one steem. I cuted it into 4 parts and placed 2 of them on left side, 2 on right. Then i used the Spinner vst with rotation on each. Some different FX on each and at the end i mixed all into one and it sounds like that :)

I always try to have good sounding drums but often i fail :)
so i am happy that i did it this time the right way

When i do the "real" version of this song, then i will have a try on some high gain distortion on the guitar ... who knows maybe it works

Thanks for your comment Mr Zergmazter

    stay tuned

Nice work Joe! I like the guitar in the background. The vocals give off a sort of haunting vibe. This song is very different from the stuff I normally hear which is always a great thing! Nice work man!

This is an interesting blend of styles! Most of the vocals put me in mind of late eighties-early nineties industrial stuff, like skinny puppy or front 242 or something... the music however was quite different from this feel, being more rock influenced. Some of the guitar riff and chords progressions reminded me of The Cure or The The, which is great! Don't have the eye attention span to read the lyrics at the moment, but I can hear/feel the feeling in the performance. Very cool song!

    Hello Spivkurl

I tryed to discripe this one and used words like - 80's, Fehlfarben and some The Cure ...... not to far away from your feelings :)
Nice to read that i mixed the styles in an enjoyable way
And also good to know that you like the preformance of the vocals.

I always enjoy comments from your side

have a nice christmas and stay tuned

This makes me feel much better about making christmas tunes LOL!! 3:D> I love the scary vocals and the rotary lead guitar effect. Are the two angels Santa and Krampus? This is great! Guess you'll be buying the looperman community new underpants for christmas? We should have a thread for this years Christmas tunes.

    Reply by joecramer

No! no new underpants for listening :)
There is no reason why a christmas song should sound soulfree and filledup with fake emotions :)
While listen to this song i have a kind of a video in my mind.
The two angels are somekind of long haired freaky chilly rustafarian, who move very calm thru the scene. They look friendly and stoned and like some nice guys who do there work with love. ..... the other part is a family who liv a normal life with all there problems and happyness. They not try to be system comform, they just try to get lucky. Dad smokes some with friends, Mom has some champain with there friends and the childs look at the christmas tree and get hyper nerves and cant wait any longer for the gifts. And all know that this almost hard core stress for childs is it where it all goes for. But it is also a real fun to watch for the older ... and the two cool angels come inside this house and say - this is a cool place and people here are fine in the eys of the lord, so we will come back for sure, peace -
It is already Christmas, so if you think a forum thread should be there, you should open it soon :)

    stay tuned

Now this is a personal interpretation of a Christmas song, I like it! I like the laid back tempo and I dig the change at :45. The vocals with the sounds in the background at that point really works, well done with the synth work throughout the song actually, there were some cool keys in there.

The vocals matched up well with the music, nice reverb, it help sets them in place in the mix. Listened a few times enjoyed the track. Going to dl this, thanks for sharing Joe!

    Merry Christmas!

Hey Joe. Thank you for confirming for me that Christmas in Germany is scary! As a song this is moody and elegant and well played and would be enjoyable in other circumstances. Ghostly sounding as if Krampus was going to jump out of corner and throw burning coal at you. As a Christmas carol...I just shat myself. Thanks. I'll go change now.

If my music has such an effect, then I've done everything right. I had not planned it but I will sign a contract with the washing machines mafia immediately ......

Your comment is extremely successful Cru.
Actually this song is not a Christmas carol.
I was just so freely to produce a Christmas version of my latest work. In some time, I will mix the song with the correct text/lyrics.

It's good to know that you think that it is actually made well. Even if it is a bit scary.

    stay tuned

that with your underpants - sorry

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.

Description : I wrote this song some time ago when I was living in Florida. It's even more true today.

Vocals by Arthur Granquist, guitar by the great Kevin Lysen, drums by Marc Karmatz, also the recording engineer.

The idea musically was to take some rock and some bluegrass elements, mash 'em up and see what happened.
