Description : This isn't so much a song, but more a rant on my part. On August 11, we welcomed our grandson into this world. As I was holding him late one night, I started thinking about the world and what he was inheriting from us. I decided to vent a bit and used my IPad to record, arrange and produce this one. I used Samplitude and some Magix loops.

As to my voice, let me say, I'm not a smoker. I quit in 1991. I was diagnosed with a terminal lung disease in 2003 (pulmonary fibrosis), and given less than 3 years to live. Well, here we are 12 years later and I'm still here. I don't know why, and I'm not going to question my good luck. But 12 years of having my lungs ravaged by pulmonary fibrosis has left me with something akin to exhaust noise, haha.

Anyway, not sure about the mix. I'll post a link to the stems if anyone wants to do something with this one when I get back in the studio. This one's dedicated to Paxton Ray Lang, P Ray. Thanks for the inspiration. Love papa

The production on this track is killer. I hate that three years later, we are having the EXACT SAME societal ills that you are speaking of in this piece. It may as well have been written yesterday, it is that current. That being said, this was really enjoyable to listen to. It reminded me of a new wave beat, the type of stuff I like to go out and dance to. And by the way, the voice is great. It really works here. Well done and thanks for posting.

Oh wow. You brought the tears on here! But what a wonderful inspiration in your grandchild. Lucky you. I still have a way to go before I get there. But I did think if Clint Eastwood could sing.....and I hope there's plenty of good times coming your way. Love the flowing feel of this piece. And if we all felt like you do, the world would certainly be a better place!

Vivk, what a wonderful comment. Being a grandparent is probably one of the coolest things I've been able to do in my life. The new addition to the family is a really amazing little guy, and it's been a real pleasure to get to know him. Thanks so much for the great feedback. It is appreciated. I hope all is well.

Absolutely incredible and true! Congrats on your new addition to the family. You brought about some very important and problamatic issues in the world. The uplifting music with your powerful vocals worked perfectly together! I completely recommend submitting this to any company or organization that is fighting against the negativity of the world of all the things you have mentioned. Thank you very much for sharing, man! Take it easy!

Well this is some really intense, hectic stuff. As I was listening to the track and reading the sad story of your diagnosis,I felt so sad but at the same time inspired too, knowing that you survived and still well.I loved the track, with the pro use of Eq's and reverbs, something that tells me you have grown in tour craft. The quality of your sound is professional.I remember when I joined here you were one of the guys who commented on my tracks.I'm glad you are ok.Remember your life is not dependent on what any Dr say.keep up your good work

My old friend, thank you for your kind words. They are so true. We are not defined by things like diagnosis, but rather by our actions. I've had an amazing life, even more so since my diagnosis. I think that's when I showed up and started actively participating in my life, instead of being a casual observer. As always your support and friendship is greatly appreciated. Now, I'm off to see what you've been up to. I hope all is well.

    Bonjour Barry ....

A brief stint here to discover this excellent track .... There was a long time since I had listened to, some good harmonies, as here. Besides that voice so deep .... Barry Withe would not have done better .... I wish you a long live and always, musical passion.
Take care of you now that you have lots of small children around you ....

    Hello Bear!

It was not really a song, I expected from you...the versatility you got is amazing...the spoken word is too sexy (my woman danced in the background slowly,I saw her in the screen of the TV and said: easy baby, this is not my song...hmmm...:-)
Good to hear a chilled, easy song from you...hope all is well...my greatest regards, Danke

Hey Danke, good to have you drop by. I started out just with the vocal but by itself it was a little scary, hahaha. So I quickly assembled some Magix loops and came up with this one. I'm glad your lady was moved to dance for you...I usually get my wife up with my music as well. She gets up and leaves the room, hahaha. Anyway old friend, thanks so much for the kind words. I hope all is well.

    Rant-based greetings.

Sorry but i can't give you a review for this track as I'm too busy with all the cool stuff I can look at in public on my phone.

I just survived narrowly getting hit by a car walking across the street as that phone shit is just so addictive.

Some annoying cyclist just reminded me that it's actually still a road and that I should look up from the phone for the rather short time I'm walking across it rather than with being head down with my back to oncoming traffic but I just thought he was being a dick so told him where to go (not a nice place).

This is an odd little quite engrossing track so I will return later to add some additional thoughts. Well, if my phone will let me. I'll have to ask it for some time off tomorrow morning.

Congrats, now back to my cool little phone world.

I owe you a review on your latest....I listened to it the other day and just enjoyed the ride. Now I can go back and tell you the parts of the ride I liked the best. Hope all is well.

First my congratulations to grandpa! Yet there is much more to congratulate for...I knew this will be good even before I pressed the play button but frankly I wasn't expecting to be blown away completely ! This is so incredibly well done
and on top of that masterfully produced....furthermore the message is strong and the vocal fits perfectly. Female backing vocals are also great and I'm enchanted by the incredibly delicate and subtle piano. This is 11/10 masterpiece Barry....and in the 'fav' it goes!:)

Hey Orlando, thank you so much. We are really excited about the new addition to our family. He has long fingers so I hope either guitar or piano will be his choice of instruments, but perhaps he will end up a bass player. Time will tell, haha. Thank you so much for the kind words on the song. I cannot take credit for anything other than my crappy vocals. The rest of the song is talent employed by Samplitude. I am happy that the production turned out OK as well. As always, your time and friendship are greatly appreciated. I hope all is well.

Thanks Domenico! I am still buzzing from the excitement of having another grandchild. And he is handsome like his papa, hahaha. I cannot take any credit for anything other than my horrible vocals, the rest are loops from Magix and Samplitude that I threw together so I had some backing music. I felt a lot better when I got done with it, haha. Anyway, it is always a great pleasure to have you stop by for a visit. I hope all is well.

Well Bear...some of those old blues boys swallowed a lot of whiskey & smoked a lot of cigars to get the vocal character that you cant buy...but my God....you did go through the wringer in a way that no one would recommend...what a hell of an experience that would have been ..I`ve done a couple of the ones that end it for many in our part of the world...but the closest I come was a Doc telling me the alternative to his recommended procedure was to wait for the autopsy....This is music with a powerful message...and I would bet a lot that you are speaking for a very large majority of our generation (and our children`s generation)....I could go pages past the allowed word limit on examples..But it makes the lights of those good people that we meet along the road shine that much brighter..and gives us reasons to hope for more good times...great job Bear...love it...and its a great illustration of the power of music and the word to communicate....Ed

Thanks Ed. After 12 years of dealing with this disease, I've come to the conclusion that I'm luckier than most. At least I'm still around to see my grandchildren enter this world. Just wish I could have done more to make it a better place for them. I know you have the same vision for your little one. Hopefully the kids coming up now will do a better job taking care of things than our generation. I do know having a grandson is a pretty cool thing though, and he looks just like me, hahaha.

Congrats Pappa! Hope everyone is doing great, there must be a lot of excitement there. Best of luck to everyone.

Damn Bear, you sound like Clint Eastwood, I could use your vocals in one of my western songs. ;) Mix sounds clear and even. I like the cabasa. The vox singing the chorus are cool, is that a sample?

The message is clear and I couldn't agree more about the topic. A song about facebook was posted here recently and I'm working on a punk rocker about the same thing. Must be on people's minds. When we were kids we were able to leave in the morning and not come home till lunch and dinner. Not any more, sadly. How things have changed. :( It's a crazy world mixed up world.

Great song Bear, nice to hear a new one! Be well and take care, you are an inspiration!

Anytime you need me to record some vox for any of your tracks let me know. I can't sing or carry a tune, but I can speak enough to screw up just about anything, haha. Really nice to have you stop by for a listen Wayne. Hope the weather isn't too hot and humid down your way. Thanks again for stopping by. I hope all is well.
