Ha ha! Incredible good work and arrangement with the horns! Perfect! The mix sounds very good too, even on little speakers. As usual, well done! Always a pleasure to hear your productions.

Hell of a mix Joe, sounds great! The bass groove is very cool. I think your version really speaks for itself.

But one thing I do want to mention that kinda bothers me. Looking at the people who once inhabited the halls of looperman. Where have these people gone? And all the others?

Way to go Joe, you slugged this one out of the park!

    Reply by JoeFunktastic

Wayne, I tell you I have had moments and thoughts of the ones we do not see here any more. I guess the legendary Mr. Funktastic, as Jamid fondly and respectfully refers to me as, will still be around for some time to come. I also make loops here as well. Any my vocals have been in many songs as well. I mean Mr. Funktastic was practically born here on I really don't see any reason to abandon ship ever.

I did leave for a brief time a while back though. I had thought that I had somehow exceeded the offerings of this site and that it was somehow holding me back. Come to find out, there is more action here on than on SoundCloud and Facebook combined once a member becomes a fully regular and active presence on this site. Also, that cesspool known as YT, has nothing but filthy comments from cowards, barbarians, and sociopaths who put thumbs down on everything.

One more thing Wayne, I loved WCOZ 94.5FM back in days over WBCN. I loved the old original KISS 108 from the 1970s with Disco Vinny but not the garbage they play today. Most radio stations today are just jukeboxes and Itunes playlists and are owned by useless conglomerates such as iHeart Radio, which really blows! Hey Wayne, thanks for the review my friend!

King of Pop tributed by Emperor of Funk. By first listening, to be true, it doesn't seem MJ... but "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke! Then came your usual savoire faire, so is def JoeFunk!

"Che te lo dico a fare!" in italian is a line translatable in "words are pointless right now!", in the sense i won't be ripetitive saying "wow-i like it-you are the man" and similar... so...

    Reply by JoeFunktastic

Henry! That's a new one for me! Emperor of Funk. That is so cool. It's like getting a brand new pair of imported Italian leather shoes.

True story: Nearly all of my Funk names were given to me. In the beginning, I had once called myself DJ "JustFillInTheBlank"_________(Who cares). So one day, I swear to you, someone said to me in my comment section for the very first time back then: Nice song Mr. Funktastic! I was like, say what? After sleeping on it I asked Shan to change my account name to MrFunktastic (Mr. Funktastic) back then. I was shocked that no one grabbed that name before I did.

I was also given the name the Prime Minister of Funk here. And now I think I will yet another A.K.A. to my funkiness, The Emperor of Funk!, lol. Recently, Henry, I decided to just roll out a name that has my real first name in it, Joe, so I don't get too lost or consumed with titles and I hope by now I have some name recognition by now.

    Grazie mille Henry!

Well, we all know MJ was the king of pop, he was brilliant!! To be able to do what you do like this is nothing short of brilliant! Excellent quality! Do you take requests, there's a song by a female group, I can't think of the name right now but when I do, I'll be back. As always, great work Mr. Funktastic! :-) it Come See About Me (I've been crying...hoo hoo...cuz I'm lonely...for you...) That's it. :-)

    Reply by JoeFunktastic

I do take request. That song was by the Supremes before they were called Dianna Ross and the Supremes. 1964 was the year. I am going to see if I got the instruments and make a demo first. I just got a new drum kit called Monotown. The drums can literally make or break a good cover like that. I am going to play around creating the drums. If I cannot get the classic mono Motown drum sound I will not go ahead.

    Thanks for the comments Patricia!

Considering I'm an alternative, post punk, industrial goth type & a bit of an elitist about it, there's a few things by Jackson I actually like. Billie Jean, Thriller, They don't care about us & Scream are the first that come to mind. I can definitely hear MJ's style of poppy funk in this. This is a great, up beat, peppy kind of funk/ pop track that wouldn't have been out of place in popular rotation back in the 80s & 90s, when pop music was still in it's golden era. Tremendous work Mr Funktastic.

    Reply by JoeFunktastic

Thanks for calling me out on my original name. That name is the one I am the fondest of. Since I cannot trademark it, I like to think I am the only Mr. Funktastic that truly matters the most because I have done some really funky things under that name, lol! I appreciate the comments!

Joe your music is awesome, I love it, mj truly knew how to get someone grooving and I can feel that vibe in this track as well. I got some of your samples going last night and built a track, I would like for you to hear it to make sure I did them justice, if you get the chance. I should have it up by tomorrow. Stay funky.

Thanks Jonny! I really want to encourage brother to keep at it too man. My tip to you, don't be nailed down to one genre. Do music outside of your comfort zone. You will do fine Jonny.

Cool cover, Joe! I'm a massive MJ fan and this is something quite different. I love that bass tone. Really tight stuff with those drums. And the bass tone changes too, getting dirtier eg 0:57. That's a nice touch, making things a bit more edgy.

Brass is cool too and then the strings round things off nicely.

Big congrats. You are good at the tribute covers.

Hey there bro! You know i am pretty bad at following up on these reviews. But first, R.I.P. to the king of pop. It just seems like today we lack those iconic performers who made a lasting impact on music. It is mostly trap music today, and that is so sad. But nonetheless, thanks man for stopping by for the review, comments and paying homage to MJ. I appreciate that.

    Hi Joe

First of what hits me is the clarity, very good mate...Great piece dedicated to the late MJ...Has some elements you would have heard in his works, has a jazzy vibe coming from the mix, maybe little more then pop genre, either way loving what you have done here...has a infectious compelling sound and feel to keep you listening, which is a good sign of a decent track...was waitig for MJ to start singing...well done with this one...Fav...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...

My long lost funk brother Mosaic! Geez greetings mate! Thanks my friend, you know I was leaning for pop on this but my funk/jazz influence just some how bubbles to the top.

Anyways I hope to see you more in the funk genre, don't let the haters discourage you man. I did admire your determination and enthusiasm on your first attempt.

Michael Jackson will always be the King of Pop even my 16 year old son loves his music. Thanks again, I hope all is well.

Hi Joe, or lets say better Hello Mr. Joe Funktastic Jackson

This track has realy some younger MJ feelings in the sounds and on some lines but the track himselfs reminds me on the older times of the king. So it´s realy a cool funky pop number with a catchy groove.
I love the brassthing with the delay, thats special cool.

    very well done

    stay tuned

Greeting Danke my dear friend. Well this time of year bring out the best in people. I had a wonderful day on the 25th with my family eating, dancing and giving thanks to God.

Danke I have noticed your loop production has picked up and you are such a giver on this site or you are trying to pass me in loop totals all in good fun. :-)

Well my friend on this track I did some focused mastering starting with the drums to give them more punch. And just took it one step at a time. You are one of the bright spots that make this site great pal! Happy New Year to you and your family and keep up that great spirit!

Well the stats kind of speak for themselves. Fifteen downloads over night is quite an accomplishment and I can see why. This definitely has a Jackson feel to it and i'm expecting to hear him come in any minute with a big "HeeHee". The percussion is killer and really sets the groove on fire. Also digging that brass section. Is that played or is that a VST?
This one definitely gets your head nodding and i'm glad I stopped by for a listen.

Yo FR what;s good word man. Aah, I love finishing the old year on a high note. Thanks for review. You are very active on this site where it matters, i.e. in talent, opinions, and just being a cool guy!

Well I used Propellerhead Reason, and I know, Booooo! And I agree sometimes. Sometimes I have to bang out of that DAW and use Cubase to load a really great VSYi like Kontakt man. Chris Hein's Horns I found are by far the best multi-purpose horns, meaning it is good for all horny situations, no pun intended. Thanks bro! Peace!

    Hi Joe!

I'm not really a fan of MJ, but this one sounds really like a MJ track even for my ears. :)
I feel the background sounding a bit too repeating but that is the style's brand i think. The trumpets are very cool!
    Regards, merry xmas! -traz

    Reply by JoeFunktastic

Hey bro thanks! You it's the old skool bro! Back in them days they did repeat a bit. But that an awesome vocalist. You just did not notice back in them days bro when people where singing, and singing without Auto-tune. Thanks man, I truly appreciate your honesty and input. Peace, Joe
