Description : Another Halloween track as promised. When I first read the Looperman Zombie Apocalypse Forum thread and considered doing a Zombie themed song, the first thing that popped into my head was Michael Jacksons Thriller. So I tried to come up with a cool street beat type groove mixed with some modern sounding electro or dubstep elements. Anyhow, this is what I ended up with...Happy Halloween to all you f'n ZOMBIES!

Okay holy crap this is the kind of music we listen to at the underground clubbing scene around here. Jesus knee tapping zombified christ this is hot.

Love the transitions, choice of sounds, and above all the buildup is just too neat!!!

    Best regards,

    Reply by Neomorpheus

Thanks for that enthusiasm and really neat comment. I'm always happy to see continued interest in this track every year. Underground or above ground if more people would learn to Groove Like a Zombie, the world might be a better place. Less brains would mean less thinking bad thoughts and planning bad actions! Makes sense huh ? (ha ha)

Haha - I'm listening again because it's Halloween again and this still sounds totally awesome. This needs to come out on the dancefloor for formation Thriller-style dancing.

Quality wubstep that I hope MJ will come back from the dead to groove to. He looked not dissimilar to a corpse in his later years anyway.

So, massive congrats and I really think you should try making something like this again. This time perhaps with some added metal g. Why not?

    Reply by Neomorpheus

I have to admit this track is among the most popular that I have posted over the last few years. I love electronic music but not especially fond of making it. Mainly because of my love for guitar. So as you suggest I may consider trying some sort of combination and see how it goes. I have several DJ friends who every year since making this track begin pestering me around this time to create something similar. Last year one of the local Dallas clubs had a Groove Like a Zombie Nite and awarded prizes for the best Zombie dancers. I was there and got to MC the contest. It was pretty cool. I'm overtly shy when it comes to receiving public attention and was a little uncomfortable in that regard but was also very proud to hear the track blasting in the club and seeing the crowd dancing to it. So yeah, this track is very special for me and I enjoy being able to resurrect it (pun intended) annually for Halloween. Thanks for the comment and suggestion bro. I will see what I can do.

I don't care that i'm commenting on a year old track.

    This is SICK!

I like the intro man! From the effects rolling into the beat in a smooth move. Nice job on the variation of styles ánd effects into 1 track.

Hey Wobbin, I'm thrilled to get some response to some of my older tracks!
For the first few years I was on Looperman I was more into electronic music and pretty much everything I was uploading came directly from VST's, loops and samples. It was all new to me then but I eventually returned to my roots and working primarily in rock /metal genre with real instruments but I plan to get back into doing some more electro here soon. This track in particularly is probably my favorite of all my electronic stuff. Glad you like it and thanks a lot for the listen and comment.

I'm upset at the fact I'm just now hearing this awesome song!! This song is the definition of pretty much everything I like in music. It has great sound effects, a great use of wobbles, nice drums, perfect structure and cool use of risers.

Thanks for sharing Neo and I hope you make more like his in the future. I will be faving and downloading this!

    Reply by Neomorpheus

Modnex, so cool to get your review man. I do feel that this track showcases some of my best work in this type of music. I'm really jazzed by the feedback I've received on it. I got this into the hands of a couple of local DJ's around Halloween who gave it some play at couple Dallas area clubs. It was very cool to hear it cranked and seeing people response and dancing to it.
Thanks for the listen and comment bro.

That intro is totally killer Neomorpheus...had to just go back on your playlist a bit to check the contrast between one of your electronica mixes & the heavy metal one you did last....Man...you have the production on this just totally nailed...perfect...tyhis should be on the soundtrack of one of those zombie movies (the ones that dont take themselves too seriously)...gotta say you do indeed hit both your fav genres in a seious way...great job......Ed

    Reply by Neomorpheus

Hey Ed, thanks for the comment on this. Sorry for the late reply but I've been so busy working on new stuff I haven't taken the time to check back on my older tracks. I'm really surprised at all the positive response to this one, especially considering the spoofy nature of it. Shows that the Looperman community is indeed a fun group. I did put some effort into this and am quite pleased with the outcome. Yeah I'm bouncing around a lot these days in terms of genre, but that's how I keep from getting bored. I certainly appreciate the comments and continued support, it means a lot bro. Thanks.

Oh yeah, dude - this is some F***in' badass shit right here.

Skilful spooky intro and the door closing synth slowdown thing is perfectly done as it drops into that big beat. Not easy to do but you pulled it off beautifully.

And it's a fat beat and the offbeat synth is wicked. This is like actual skilful dubstep and I like it (for a change). Definitely a modern dubstep update of Thriller - and that is a big compliment. Thriller is still one of the most unusual and brilliant pieces of pop music ever made.

Are you surprised to hear that I'm a huge MJ fan (of the music, of course rather than body modification etc)?

Best thing I've heard from you, no question!

1:21 evil, drunk tramp ogre groan is actually surprisingly cool.

This is a loud mix but that seems to be just perfect for this style. This is beautifully produced and skilfully ended.

Almost no criticism from me on this and I will no doubt return to give it more praise.

I'll criticise your stuff when I think more can be added/done with it. But when you get it so right like this, you leave me with nothing to add!

Pure badassery from start to finish.

Have a favourite from me. Actually, have 100.

Absolutely no resemblance to "Thriller" as this is modern and Authentic in its own right!!

In saying that...this makes for an awesome 2015 "Thriller" Remix....food for thought?? Some of MJ's Thriller vox could mix very well on this??

Awesome artwork with plenty of colour and crispy sound.

We so must collab oneday...we could come up with some floor filling remixes or originals.

    Best Regards,

I was tempted to search for some Thriller sound clips but thought I might get flamed or even get the track yanked so I abstained. I also would most definitely dig the collab bro. Give me a shout anytime. Thanks for the comment.

Halloween always bring some sick dark style type of tracks. (And remixes) Was cut off from the internet for most of the past two weeks. But glad to hear some new tunes from everybody. Great zombie like theme, nice cinematic touch with the vox fx. Digging the up and down nature of the synths too. If I can make it to frightfest, I would definitely play this on my phone. Sick work man. peace

I didn't consider this being played anywhere publicly but last weekend I took my kids to a Halloween store to buy them some costumes and they had a pretty nice sound system set up and was playing some music. They had some people dressed up as Zombies wandering through the store. I thought for a moment how cool it would be to hear this track come on and see them go into a synchronized dance, Ha ha !

Thriller at the time was big. I remember it aired one time only at midnight on Friday Nights Videos. After that, you had to pay to see it at clubs and other establishments. Finally, years later, I got to watch it for the first time and I was floored.

Wicked track Neo, I'm not much into electro, nonetheless, it caught my attention because of the different genres mixed in. Special FX are just superb. Seems like zombies is the more popular theme for Halloween on here, and you did justice with it. Mad props!

MJ was so influencial in so many ways!!Regardless of what people think of his music he was an excellent entertainer. Why was he so abusive to his crotch though? O.o I think Thriller was the first "creepy" themed music I ever heard that made an impression when I was little. Those dancing zombies were great :p I can picture a modern day Thriller here :D Maybe after eating the people waiting in the warehouse his buddies threw on some tunes and had a party :D Maybe a half decayed MJ joined the fun as well moonwalking around then his leg falls off :p

    Dude. This is good.

Do you build your own dubstep synths, or are these loops, or presets? For as much synth work as I do, I can never get the dubstep thing to sound right. But, this isn't about me.

I can definitely hear the Thriller influence. But not in a, "Hey! You ripped that guy off!" kind of way. More like, "Sweet! There's a bad-ass little nod to an icon!" kind of way.

For being a horror based concept, you still kept it up and moving with an overall upbeat atmosphere without it ever getting crazy, or losing the point of the song. The Zombie, and other effects were good. Not over or under used. In the mix, they held their places well.

I think the best part of it, though, is the way you used the synth that came in at 0:51 to pace the song like the slow lumbering gate that Zombies are typically portrayed as having, but using the other synths to create the sense of total tension, awareness and focus one would need in "dealing" with them.

This could easily be used in a montage, or even an animated short about the decrepit bastards.

    Excellent work, Mister.

    Take care.

    Reply by Neomorpheus

    Hey V.,
I'm using Massive and have a few preset packs that are great and I highly recommend. I've got Glitch Hop and Dubstep Massive presets by Patchworx and Freakyloops' Monster Dubstep. To be honest though, I barely scratch the surface on real Dubstep, especially where Massive is concerned. I do use Loops and wave sounds. Like the creaky door opening sound used here for intro/outro that's sliced, distorted and worked into the beat.
Yeah I tried to blend in the horror sounds to give it enough theme but not so much to overpower the music. Glad you liked and as always I really appreciate getting your input bro. Thanks heaps !

Description : Just like the first EP "OGOU", this production focuses on organic elements with drum samples. It contains modern sounds such electronic down-tempo, future bass, and hip-hop, which makes the music sound old and new at the same time. With heavy sampling of African chants and sound generated from other tribes, this is production will bring more flavor and enjoyment--it's like Africa to your Ears.

Description : After a major uphill battle completing this song and turning it into what it is now, I feel some amount of satisfaction. It was like reality wanted me to give up or something. It's done... phew... Have updated this almost completely, from repatching the modular bass, playing some guitar parts, adding electric piano and synth lead, redoing and tuning the DW-6000 synth, of course adding my vocals, and mixing and mastering. UPDATE... woohoo just broke 1000 plays on this track here at looperman!
***original description***
Hey finally here with a new track! I'm not sure what to call this other than electronic, due to the high tempo. This is the first song finished using my interface which allows direct MIDI control of my modular synthesizer. The mid frequency bass part is all from that patch. There are tracks designed with my Zoom RT-123 drum machine, the microkorg, and the circuit bent KORG DW-6000. Other than that it is just a kick and snare drum sample, and a a quick vocal snippet. So I guess it's fairly minimal in that respect. Would like to hear the Looperman community's thoughts on this song! Thank you for listening

Description : The answer to Close Encounters is Hymn Of The Pleiades. This is a strictly groove track where the elements of ambient meets electronic funk and Hip Hop. Track was recorded, mixed and mastered using Mixcraft Pro Studio 6 software. Results were achieved by using a FATA Studio 90 MIDI keyboard ran through a E-MU Proteus 2000 sound module, - for the phat funky bass synth. I also used a KORG O5R/W sound module for the retro lead synth parts and ambient sound pads.
I utilized what was essentially a old school Hip Hop drum track, arranged and beefed it up for that extra umh! I greatly appreciate all the positive feedback the track has garnered thus far. Keep listening and by all means, your comments are much welcomed... thanks.
