Hows it going Dennel?good i hope..
Your featured track is great but i have had a good sniff through your back catalogue and this track stood out for me.I am Lovin the david sanborn (slap johnson)Alto sax on this and that funky guitar wah play is sooo slick!
I am always drawn to an off beat funky snare,it just sounds so damn cool,i wish i was a drummer lol.
Great percussion intro and the guitar-G minor!such a great sounding funk key, great bass with the chromatic line - Hey i am in there!I could have done with 7 minutes of this.
This is way too good ,you should be arrested! NOW!

Hey Rhodesy so nice of you to stop by and take a listen. And thanks for your review and apparent enthusiastic appreciation of this track (lol). Yeah...I had a great time creating this tune,so much passion, heart & soul went into it. And I much like yourself have always been a lover of "Smooth Jazz"; David Sanborn, George Benson (whom I've met), Bob James, Al Jarreau, Lee Rintenour, Pat Metheny, Marcus Miller, etc. These wonder artist and so many more I've drawn inspiration from and inspired me.

Thanks again for taking time to listen and I'm so glad that you really enjoyed the track,

By the way I forgot to mention the first time around that I thought that was a interesting song title, I like it.

Hi Dennel, how have I missed your work? This is as smooth as silk my friend! Super guitar and bass work, and the groove is so Steve gadd!! Wonderful feel... I feel we should do a collaboration on something like this, or if you have this song without the sax part I will add some new tailored riffs...

    What do you think?

    Cheers Slap... (your new fan).

    Reply by Dennel

Why Slap, that's a big plus coming from you! For some reason I assumed that you heard this track before? Though these were "edited loops" of you playing, I was able to get the feel I was looking for. But now since you've mentioned it, if you would like to redo the track I'd be delighted to send you the tracks to add your personal touch to. And trust me, I'm your biggest fan lol. So glad you dug it peace. P.S. yeah Steve Gadd was definitely a helluva studio drummer.

    Reply by Dennel

Hey Fila, thanks for stopping by again. this was the track out of all mine I definitely wanted you to check out. I'm working on a "jazz fusion" track and a old school R&B/Soul track that I'm collaborating with one of the looperman members. When I finish it, I will most certainly give ya a holla to check it out. Man, I just had to address your "transistor radio" comment to my review of your track. I was laughing my ass off to no end on that one. Because I'm definitely fo-sho a child of that era! (lol) I remember that very well; all you had back then was that, or if you were lucky, FM Radio or LP's, 45's or 8 Track. (lol) But these youngsters don't know what we talkin' 'bout Fila? (lol) What a great observation you made about back then all the hits were 3 minutes or less. True dat, and it truly was all good music no matter what the style. Hell, I remember getting turned on to "The Three Dog Night", "Grand Funk Railroad", and a multitude of soul music during that era. I was just explaining to "Eshar" (one of the great things about living out here in L.A. is you may run across some of your musical idol's from time to time); So I was telling her about the time I met "George Benson". And how we must have talked for a few hours, I was telling him how much I loved the "Breezin" album and Clause Orgerman's lush string arrangements on that album. I asked him would he ever consider working with him again, and he said yes. At the time I met George, Randy Crawford had just released her version of George's "Give Me The Night". So I asked George, I said, now be honest man, what did you think of Randie's cover of your song? And he said... well... it took a minute to grow on me. (lol) I said yeah, it was the same effect for me too. Then he told me, you know I used to be married to her, who do you think got her started in the business? I was like whaaaat??!! Naw, get outta here George! (lol) Really nice guy, anyway thanks for checking out the track and reviewing. And it's so great to converse with someone who can go way back in a day with me. P.S. Yeah that "Sissy Strut" track by The Meters is also stone cold funky track as well. Peace, D.

    Great work.
So tasty. Direct off the 605 South, Pico exit and onward into Uptown Whittier sneaking in via the back way. My previous stomping grounds. This song reminds me so much of the Lovely Latina Jennifer who stole my heart. This songs moves like Jennifer moves.

Hey GOODBEEFYUM, actually it was a "long loop track." Add some very, very extensive editing, some fx's, a "Slap Johnson" sax loop and a slammin' bassline. And you get the end result.

I'm really proud of this track and by all the respone I had received before I took the first verson of the track off looperman. Thanks so much for the review and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Description : This song highlights a few different styles of jazz. First it starts with a kinda early 20s and 30s groove. Than it melds into a New Orleans style. Than into a sort of Maynard Ferguson big band jazz/rock groove, and finishing off with the 20s and 30s style again, all held together with some cool horns and bass. All n all, it's...Pretty Cool! Hope you like

Description : Do not freak out just because this is jazz! There's also blues, rock, funk and a little hip hop in it to break up the deep, chillout jazz sections - gets particularly rocking then funky at the end. Main bassline (the track's foundation) is recycled leftover slide resonator guitar parts detuned one octave to make a slide bass sound. Also features: piano, violin, hammered dulcimer, organ, ethereal pad guitar, bass guitar, jazz/blues/rock electric guitar and multiple programmed acoustic drumkits. This was difficult to make at times as I thought I needed more leads parts eg from sax or trumpet. But I'm happyish with the end result. I expect very little interest in this as it's both jazz and long jazz. But it's also an unusual type of genre-mixing jazz. So, leave your thoughts, good or bad, if you like...

Description : This track contains only free loops from Stayonbeat.com and several loops from Looperman artists (listed below). I "made a promise" that my next track will be use a lot of jazzy loops - well, i done with this track, for the great sadness of jazz lovers or experts i think - i fear they will never forgive me. :) While my ISP launches my internet out of the Earth system for a long time, i had to face the fact that i dont have too much downloaded jazz loops on my computer, so i think no wonder that this one is sounds like if i smoke some marihuana while making it. But hey, who cares, i like the result - it reminds me the (maybe only) really funny episode of "Breaking Bad", where Pinkman uses some heroin and flyes up with an idiotic smile on his face - that chapter is priceless. :D
I dont think this one needs a vocal, but ofcourse you can use it if you want, and as always, just write and i will give any support as i can. Any feedback welcomed too as always. Enjoy! UPDATE 2015.10.24.: improved audio quality - lower lows, higher highs. Now in 256kbps!

Description : Music by Antonio Carlos Jobim. This particular piano arrangement is from one of jazz sheet piano books I found on scribd. The electric piano is MrRay22 plugin which I played on Casio CDP220 digital piano. This is also a new piece that I learned today so it was quite tricky to get a proper touch at places and overall make the entire thing sound anywhere realistic. I tried many times and this was probably the best take. Also I am relatively new to playing latin piano music. I didn't manipulate any notes after recording - instead I added few virtual vintage amps. I choose jazz but it is a bossa nova latin style. Enjoy and feel free to comment and download.

Description : "Oh no - not jazz metal! You're not supposed to mix those genres together." Yes, but someone's got to and the musical gods have chosen me for the difficult task. 9 mins of instrumental jazz metal - damn I sure know how to write a hit song - US No 1 here I come. Anyway - there's some dark, swinging groovy jazz, with Rhodes and guitar as the main instruments, for a few minutes and then some haunting, thumping evil breaks loose. Look out for the powerful synth horn sound. And then it just gets heavier and heavier before returning to some nice chillgroove funky mystery jazz. Instruments played and/or programmed: electric guitar, bass guitar, electric cello, multiple programmed acoustic drumkits, filtered strings, Rhodes, big synth bass, evil synth horn and a few other assorted synths. I assume this has too much jazz for metallers and too much metal for jazzers. So, only for weirdoes like me who enjoy both. This will surely be too odd for most people but I like to think it's pretty interesting and powerful. Let me know how its weirdness worked for you...
