hmm, I don't listen to much UK hip-hop or rap, but I love Rhyme Asylum, they're rather dark in their subject matter and have amazing wordplay

Not to take anything away from Pro Green or Dizzee, but Rhyme Asylum is more my cup of tea :-)

im defo into artists like Rhyme Assylum, Stig of the Dump and terrafirma but other than them i find most of the uk hip hop artists to be rather crap when compared with the likes of Warcloud, Company Flow, Aesop Roc, Bronze Nazareth and alot of other US Underground artists...theres defo some raw UK emcee talent on this site though like Rick Mal and Korrupt Dialect but for some reason the majority of heads in the UK would rather listen to the likes of Dizzee Rascal and N-Dubs chattin alot of sh*t about nothing....

Does anyone else find it amusing that it's only people from the UK posted, considering the title of the thread? lol

I can't compare apples to oranges with this.
The American musik scene differs from the UK musik scene (personally, id rather kick it in the UK). Also, mainstream is mainstream no matter where u go, which means the same story told a bagillion different ways (gettin drunk, high and effed). The underground stuff comin out the UK, is dope, and I can't stress how wretched the dub scene is either (one of the reasons I wanna go).

I think the UK rappers sound inherently more intellegent, i think it is the accent

French rap is actually my favorite, i think the sounds in the language itself lend a natural flow, maybe this comment will start a big fight! That would be great!

It is too big a subject really, anything said will have many exceptions, but personally i find US Mainstream rap (NOT underground, and certainly not Loop rap!)....boring, and overcomercialized

Haven't listened yet to the above links, but i will

im actually a big fan of uk hip hop, more so than my american coutner parts, out here in america, there is only a hand full if that that can actually put content in there music. I foun a small few on looperman in which Im proud of, but, as far as the uk scene, in my opinion they blow the states out the water. Ive done colabs with korrupt dialect, and he pretty much is way better than 90% of the american hip hop artists, and I say hip hop due to the fact americans cant seperate "rap" and "hip hop". Im still researching the uk scene, and I will continue to listen cause alot of what I hear is what I do in my music, talk real, be real, and no crap. Having a great story or message is the key to hip hop!!

a lot of UK rappers have awesome multi-syllable rhymes.. i like the style, its just hard sometimes to understand when the emcee has a heavy accent, just because i'm not used to it.
