And actually going with what Cyber kinda mentioned.. you get some really wacky varying degrees of skill around here.
I sometimes wonder if super huge big name artists start looperman accounts just to take loops and sniff around.

Just started using Soundcloud recently and personally I'm loving it. I love the interface, very clean and simple. I like the fact that you can upload artwork for your tracks. I even like the little map that shows you where the people come from who listen to your track. I like that you can follow and be followed by your favourite artists. Most of all I've been blown away by the quantity and quality of great material on there and that you can upload huge sized tracks.

ye ive got a soundcloud.. i got almost every damn thing...but nothing is like looperman . i can make a track upload it here and iknow there will be people listening to it give criticism and review straight from the heart... you dont get that anywhere else

A trick I recently learned on that site... and appropriate considering I find getting plays there much tougher than here... when uploading, consider changing default license to Creative Commons, that puts your tracks up on shared board for others to surf and see. To see others out there, go to Tracks menu then CC. FYI don't believe tracks show immediately.

I have a SoundCloud account and I agree with most points discussed. Yeah; it's perfect for sharing on facebook and myspace or even email. My problem with it is uploading. I put a file to upload and I always get errors. I thought it was my bandwidth but I tried my ReverbNation account and I uploaded fine and in no time at all. I even uploaded here on looperman with no problems. As flashy and as user friendly as SoundCloud is. Uploading for me so far is a real problem

I dont accept other sites :) Thats my brutal message.
If ppl upload their tracks with my loops on other sites and send me the link, i write back: "I dont listen to tracks on other sites. If you create a track with a sample of looperman.com it is more then fair, to upload this track on looperman.com too" :)

@ dung - what you need to do to get plays is join relevant groups. There are millions of groups to join eg Dub Techno or Berlin Minimal House & Techno. You can share your track with that group once you've joined and they all get made aware of your track. It works pretty similarly to here to in that if you listen and review others it often gets reciprocated.

Might I suggest you join the Slightly Unhinged Verging On Psychotic Ambient group. :0

just not enough hours in the day (know where i can get some?) to get deep into another site for me, thats where i'll put my 320's and long pieces though, instead of mediafire bc i think it's visually so nice it will entice more dl's (to but stolen for millions while i rot in the gutter)

I use soundcloud and am sn76 on there too... prefer it here to be honest! You can drop tracks with larger file sizes on there... dropped a dj mix on there for that reason.

I arrived to Looperman after being in SoundCloud for over 2 years.
Soundcloud is good for uploading huge DJ mixes but for new talents it has nothing to offer.
1) Forums are vague and doesnt promote collaboration among artists (there is not even a Search in the Forum capability !!)
2) Very few people are reviewing or suggesting anything on your tracks. Electronic community are full of DJ Mixes but new talents rarely get reviewed.
3) There are thousands of niche groups with less than 10 tracks uploaded and not even a comment!
4) Last but not least.... if you have more than 2 hours of music, you need to pay to upgrade your profile. In other words: YOU NEED TO PAY TO LET PEOPLE LISTEN TO YOUR FREE MUSIC.

IMHO, Looperman wins, in everything!
