I thought this might be a good thread to start.

As I stated elsewhere, Acid xpress can be found at sony.com or acidplanet.com.

    Now, at
    http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/category.aspx?bcatid=1249

you can get quite a variety of free production programs:

    OTS Turntables
    Mixere
    Switch Audio Converter
    Magix Music Maker Basic Ed.
    Switch Audio Format COnverter
    Wavepad
    Anvil Studio

and a host of other audio related programs. I hope that anyone reading this can contribute a site or two and thus build a resource for those who might be unable to afford commercial software.

There's REAPER, it's uncrippled shareware, you could google it. Very versatile multitrack DAW and VST 2.1 host for plugins. The only thing that really bugged me: it was prone to crashing, at least in my hardware.

But hey, you could use comercial software, i mean, online resellers and auction sites often have legal, yet old, but professional software. Cubase 5.1 can still do almost anything you could think of, traktion is also very competitive. I got them both for about $55 + $12 shipping (USDOLLARS). Of course, just weeks latter i found out they were also on emule....

Yes, thanks to everyone who has contributed. I hope this thread continues to grow. Perhaps sites with free loops, audio editors, etc. Anything that would be useful.

    Thanks

someone on this forum asked for some samples, and a guy mentioned breakbeat-paradise.com
really dont know if these samples are free , i mean there are tons of acoustic drum loops from the 70's , that were used many times in old skool hip-hop

    breakbeat paradise

if i'm not right , then someone correct me...
