trust me, you may want to make your own breaks, then render to a track and then chop suey from there, acid's sequencing engine has some mathematical shit that dosent compare to anything else

Tsk tsk. I don't like the fact that you pirated a version of Acid. I don't care about songs or whatnot, but when it comes to Acid, it's something that I think you should really go out and buy.

I find Acid pretty useless, myself. However there's a couple thousand people on this site (an understatement, I'm sure) that produce some incredibly great material with it (My pal chimpyguy878 is one of 'em). So, my guess is that I just suck at using Acid. lol. Seriously, my main beef with Acid is that it trades "ease of use" with functionality. It makes desicions for you when it comes to tempos and shit. I'm sure there's probably ways around this, but I prefer the technicality and functionality over ease of use. As for pirating software, isn't Sonic Foundry the same people who charge an arm and leg for those useless loop cds? The reason I posted to this forum is just to say that those who've purchased Sonic Foundry's Acid should be given the loops for free. Sonic Foundry does make some great software (I, personally use Sound Forge on a regular basis! :D ). Still, I think they are exploiting their customers when it comes to material. So, in my humble opinion, pirating software doesn't seem to be such an offense considering the way they've treated their loyal and paying customers. Statistically, people don't steal from those they respect. I'm sure that some will disagree but that's my opinion.

Just 2 hours a go I received my update to ACID 6 via UPS. There are plenty of free software titles out there to accomplish some amazing creative expressions. Use them. I hear many works on this site and others who do first rate work with FREE and LEGAL applications. My family does custom software development. I see them work incredibly hard to accomplish goals and provide their clients with solutions. With my own Legal Registered (and believe me PAID FOR) copies of ACID, I have realized dreams. From Symphonic to Sludge and all points in between. I am very happy with this incredible application. So you can imagine my opinion of your stealing. Regardless of what the folks who make ACID do or do not do for their own customers, take your hacked copy and shove it.

In my opinion no good comes from using hacked software and we shouldn't be encouraging it on this site.
I've had one or two people approach me trying to get me to pirate the software that I use, but it just ain't happening!
The fact that there is plenty of free music software out there has already been pointed out, but it can't be emphasised enough. I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination, but I put my hand in pocket to pay for the software that I use.

I paid a whole paycheck for my Acid. I wouldn't ask for a cent back. Acid is amazing, if you know how to use it. :]

Though it does get old. :/

Boo hoo. New loops, new fun, new sex.

A free version of Acid Xpress 5 can be downloaded at either the Sony site or acidplanet.com. I'm not sure what the limitations are, but its legal and its use is encouraged.

    Hope that helps.

I use Acid Music Studio 6.0 cost me 65$ @ Target last winter. I like it for the most but can't compare it to any other pc based track recorder. It suits my needs, but I do have one gripe with it is that it only goes up to 200bpm. Also, the audio fx plug in window is no longer opening. This JUST happened tonight. I am sure it is my computer and not the software, because I have had a similar problem with another program where a seperate window opens but no longer does. So it looks like I'll be reinstalling acid, if I can.

@ twinket: You go into the options section and in there you can go up to 300 and also down to 70... i dont think it will be any different for acid MS 6 but whos knows.
@ somotitbee: well i donno about the others but i was talking about music studio(s) not pro. I tried pro before and dont get me wrong, its an exelent program one of the best but way too confusing compared to MS... but i suggest to get pro not music studio...

THANKS Gsusfrk for the tip, got it workin now. I also got my audio fx plug in window to open again, I had to reinstall the software but that wasn't too much of a pain. Hopefully it won't happen again, but if it does it's fairly easy to fix.

Well, I make all my stuff with ACID 3.0 and it works just fine. As long as you know how to manipulate the loops, you're okay. The only problem that I have with it is that if I want to do something like 7/4 or 5/4 time, I have to pay attention to every beat and make sure it's in the right time, whereas on 6.0 you can just change the whole project or a certain part of it to be the different time.

By the way, 3.0 was like $20 on Half.com. You should buy it for the loops, like I did. But a lot of them suck though, unless you're into techno. I like metal, so they were useless to me.

The only thing thats really sucks about acid, is if you upgrade to a newer version anything you composed on the older version will not work right on the new version....At least for me it didnt

Wow...I don't have that problem at all. I can open and work on anything I have ever produced in any older version of Acid in my latest upgrade. This has worked for me each and every time I have upgraded from my first registered version Acid 2 through to my recent upgrade to Acid 6 Pro. In fact I just did a remix in Acid 6 of a project created in Acid 4. No problem. I can not however, work on a project created in Acid 6 in my older versions of Acid, but then why would I want to do that when I have access to all the latest goodies in 6? I have seen a few folks describe difficulties with Acid, but I find it to be all I need to knock some serious work as well as some weirdly cool experiments.

well, I use AcidXpres and I'm totally happy with it!!!
it's limited to ten tracks, but I take this for a challenge to think about what I'm doing, so it brings out even a little more creativity ... ;-)
but I soon will upgrade to Acid Music Studio ... and later up to Acid Pro ...
I make music for a long time now but I'm pretty new to recording, so I want to go step by step ...
what I like the most is the preview window where you can pre-listen to your loops in the correct tempo of the project ... that saves so much time .... that's really great!!
