Have an idea on how we could improve the site let us know here. Please take a look at the ideas already submitted first though so that we dont end up with duplicate threads.
When we upload a loop, there's the option to enter a key. However there is no option for major or minor, meaning that I have to write this in the description. However, when downloading other people's loops, they often don't put this in the description, so once downloaded we have to manually work out the key. Is there any chance there could be a menu for selecting Major or Minor?
It would be fun to have a stats page. I'll name a few things it could have:
1 - Total Downloads
2 - Favorite Genre and Instrument (what you download the most)
3 - How many comments you've left on loops/forums (promotes feedback)
1 - The ability to set up a paypal link to sell exclusive rights to loops. Basically 1 person can buy out your loop and then it gets deleted from looperman. (Had people request this from me a couple of times through dms, this would be easier to do if it was implemented in looperman)
2 - For the LOVE OF GOD Looperman, please, I love this site and you but can you give us the ability to post layered loops with 2 different sounds? Sometimes a sound on it's own doesn't make sense whatsoever but sounds amazing as a combination of sounds. It kills me when I find that perfect sound and I have to scratch it because of layering issues.
Maybe make a new instrument option titled "layered" and the rule is 3 sounds max, no bass or percussion/drum layering on the sound. Basically melody only layering
Sorry, but this idea has not been thought out at all .... How is this going to effect those who have already downloaded and used the loop as a royalty free item? It will screw them over, and they won't even know until it's too late... until a lawyer contacts them. This would be just plain wrong. If you want to make money from your loops, then don't upload them here.

Thanks for the clarification. I am not a lawyer so I honestly don't know how it works but I have had people ask me to delete loops and sell the loop to them exclusively/ownership a couple of times up to 200$. I was surprised the first time as well since I upload my loops here royalty free, but it happens. I'm asking for some sort of uploading under different rights option, like upload it with the opportunity of buying the loop out exclusively, not under a royalty free version.
That or either an ability to upload sample packs with a 70% split, 30% of the income goes to looperman for example and people can find it trhough your profile or simply a new section on the site, the loops in the sample pack not being exclusive obviously, just how a basic sample pack works.
In short just looking for an ability for producers on this site to make some cash off of some of their loops.
Like I said I don't have an issue with not being paid for my current loops, I have close to 300 uploads and love sharing with the community (and will definitely continue to because I love the vibe of the people on this site and this sense of community) but I am suggesting this idea because people have requested to buy loops/samples through instagram, soundcloud, emails after finding me on looperman. It would just be nice to have an easy option to sell on site, which would gather more attraction as well and it would be a nice way for looperman to make some extra cash to keep the site running.

I think the whole point of the loops on Looperman is that they are free to use which is part of the reason why it is so popular. If you make it optional for people to charge, that's exactly what 90%+ of them will do and you will drive a lot of people away from the site. There are plenty of sites where you can sell loop packs so I'm not sure we really need another one to be honest.
Yep, this ^^^
Most people who end up here, if asked, say they found the place looking for free loops/samples. If they had been shopping for purchased loop packs, they would have ended up somewhere else.
Likely, if someone wants to buy the rights to someone's loop on Looperman, then it is precisely so they can turn around and claim that it is their work. Damaging the terms and conditions under which any other user of the loop has agreed to.
This person can afford a small sum, such as $200, since litigation could lead to much larger damages claimed from all of the other people who have used the loops in good faith.
I am not a lawyer either, yet I have seen enough innocent loopers getting harassed due to a claim of ownership on completely free property.
Fair enough guys, it was just a suggestion. Just found this thread, apparantly looperman had the same idea years ago but never went through with it: https://www.looperman.com/forum/thread/3457/selling-loop-packs-on-looperman-register-your-interest?page=
Probably not to violate the integrity of what this site is and I can get behind that. Respect everyone's decisions and opinions.
Personally I would have enjoyed it greatly, and I kindly disagree with both of you on 90% of this site putting their loops on lock, but that's just personally me (it's a bold claim to make). I came to this site knowing I was giving to the community and providing royalty free loops and I massively enjoy it. What my suggestion would mean for me is a way to bring my business to this site as well, my various sample packs (3 tb of melodies, samples, etc I never uploaded here) to sell directly on this site instead of off-site and keep providing the free loops like I do whenever I have some free time and creativity. But like I said I can only speak for myself and disagree on my behalf, I don't have the ability to predict what 90% of the site would or would not do.
Anyway, I'm back to making loops and music, have a great day guys.
This drab design, very plain and needs computer. I have Art for sale!
Also an edit button in the comment section or can you even delete a comment. It's love everything is written in stone.
Also, does everyone really need to know which songs we downloaded, so our competitors can see, how about some secrecy?
I would love an option to bookmark loops! I always find dope melodies but sometimes it's just not what I'm looking for at the time. So I'd like to be able to save loops for later so I can use them without losing them.
Been advocating this for years so I guess one more time won't hurt.
A self contained section separate from the forum dedicated to collaboration requests and all things to do with collaborations.
We really need a delete / edit comment button
1. To fix spelling / grammar errors
2. To delete a comments if the link no longer works
3. To change the url of a beat if it has changed
4. To delete spam comments that are only there to promote a beat that has nothing to do with the thread / loop
I like Doug's #4. But I kind of have a feeling Mr. Looperman quit paying attention to this thread awhile ago.
dont always trust your feelings :)
At the moment while that function is not public, spammers are deleted every day. This is done through people reporting them by contacting me or by me seeing the spam posts myself when i check
The ability to have a flag that suggests the loop has been mis-categorized.. If you search for PIANO loops right now, for example, maybe 15% of the loops sound like a piano. Most are synths and wildly different from what a grand or upright piano sounds like. Perhaps 3 flagged instances and then an email is auto-generated to the uploader saying, "Put this in another category."
@Vidmeister, this is due to the fact that all of the drop down category listings here are limited. For instance, I uploaded a Clavinet(an E-Piano) loop today. So where do I put it? It is not a synth like what you would find in EDM music. It is not an actual piano, it is not an organ, and it is not a Wurlitzer. It could fit in a general E-Piano drop down or better yet an actual Clavinet drop down listing.
EDM people consider their E-Piano loops like actual pianos but for EDM music. If you put their E-Piano loops in a synth category then that would upset all of the EDM people, for example, who are looking for their kind of piano, whether synth or organic. And this would go for all other genres as well and not just for EDM piano loops. How about Electronica or Trap E-Pianos? Somewhat recently the Bass loops were broken out into three categories. Bass synth, Bass Wobble, Bass Guitar. Maybe it is time for the Pianos and keyboards to have a break out as well.
I was informed a while back to just drop the loop into the closest category you feel your sound matches, and again, this is due to the limited availability of drop down categories. So flagging things without having a greater number of appropriate or available categories in the first place would be counterproductive and may cause more problems than what it is worth. The drop down listing of available categories needs to expand before any flagging can occur. I am not personally advocating for any of these changes I spoke of here.
@planetjazzbass hear hear. This should be the top priority thing but sadly methinks it is way down on the list
The forum has just turned into an ad page now sadly.
I like the idea of clear and defined copyright/non-copyright categories for vocalists to release their acapellas under.
As it stands now, the music producers are left to interpret (sometimes inaccurately) the usage policies of the vocalists
it would be cool if there was like a number on your profile showing how many times your loops have been downloaded
It's such a huge catalog of loops. I always want better and more creative ways to find things. I've mentioned this one before: Excluding certain things would be helpful for me. (For instance, all drums loops in 110 EXCEPT for Trap or whatever)
Another exclusionary type search that would be AWESOME for me would be to exclude loops that I've already downloaded. This site has been around for a good amount of time now--I now there's a lot of interesting loops from 7-8 years ago that I haven't dug into yet.
I really love the ethos behind this site. This is what we all imagined the internet would be like when we first learned about it. Global sharing and creativity--without too much commercialism.
Also--the mischaracterization flag is a GREAT idea. You find all sorts of things under 'percussion' loops, etc. that don't necessarily fall into their categories.
1 - Make us able to upload several layers (look at 808ice comment www.looperman.com/forum/thread/191169/premixed-and-or-layered-loops?page=1)
2 - Add a "already heard/downloaded" function somehow
3 - Follow mode
