Hi guys,
lets say Shan is Santa Claus, you can write a wish list and every wish comes true.
Which 3 things you would write on the list?
Here are mine:
1. A logical link to the user profiles.
At the moment you have to click on the profile picture to goto a user profile. I speak from experience that the most users here dont know how to go to a user profile or that it even exists.
A click on a picture in the internet makes the pic bigger or fullscreen and normally dont leads you to a profile. A link like "user profile" or just "profile" would be more clear in my opinion. Also the click at the username to see his loops is misleading. Also here I would suggest a link like "More Loops of user X"
2. A "Follow mode"
A option to follow a loop / track uploader. Lets say I abo a user X, I login to looperman and it shows me "user X has uploaded 3 new loops - click here" or something :)
3. Shan stay how you are :)
Now its your turn :)
I leave pencil and paper here for the next one.
Good thread, I moved it to the correct place too :)
Lets see what comes up compared to what ive already got done or planned.
and if I can write a 4th wish :)
4. A FAQ site which explains, how to act if you download a loop on looperman and your beat on youtube or soundcloud gets rejected by a supposed infringement of a copyright, cause another artist has used the same loop and youtube thinks, that the copyright of the melody is by the first uploader :)
hold on, dont start changing the game already ...
you can have that as your third as the original third vote has already been done
Okay, I'm in...
* 1. Ability to delete and edit forum posts, including the title and category, as well as replies. This may help with inflamed spam posts, if the OP decides that they did something wrong, for example.
* 2. Ability to make attachments to forum posts and private contacts. This will allow collaborations and competitions to become more in-site focused, rather than serving outside interests such as dropbox, mediafire, soundcloud, instagram, email servers etc. It may also help with more technical related assistance between looperman members.
* 3. Addition of key words for all media elements; loops, acapellas, and tracks. This would increase the scope of the search greatly, and could be used along side the preset categories and genres that are in place. Many users seem to have trouble finding what they are looking for, and this may be helpful with new uploads or those that are updated with key words by the uploader.
This may be a dumb idea (but the upshot is I'm only suggesting one thing! lol) how about a colour system for users names (no not the old points system) but one like you see in most DAWs a changeable one based on what they do musically, whether their a singer, musician, engineer, rapper, lyricist, producer, voice over, etc etc so when you see a member you can get some instantaneous idea of their musical background.
*1 Bring back the moderators. I think they could serve in a capacity at helping you Looperman at resolving minor user issues in the community in a much more expedient manner. It may also help reduce the wait time for members waiting on simple requests like a locked account.
*2 Allow users to add or embed one featured video of theirs on their profile page. This, in turn, could be works of their band or group, a song of theirs, or a tutorial.
*3 Allow us to place unique cover artwork on our songs. Right now just our designated avatar is displayed. It would be nice if we could place a different picture or image on our songs.
1. "Ability to make audio attachments to forum posts."
THIS.
This would definitely encourage users to keep their music within Looperman. Maybe you could make a track or loop uploaded to Looperman be embeddable within a forum post? If multiple attachments could be included within a post, that would be phenomenal! A great idea for sure.
2. A "Follow mode"
A option to follow a loop/track uploader.
3. "Ability to delete and edit forum posts, including the title and category, as well as replies."
I second this, more than once have I found typos or errors in my forum responses and having to write a second reply to correct it only serves to add clutter to the forums.
4. Total loop download counter! Somewhere on our profile, maybe? Or it could be private. I always wondered how many downloads my loops had garnered over my three years here and would love to continue to keep tabs on that.
I wonder how difficult @tagging would be? That way we can tag other users in our posts where it is relevant, and they recieve a notification when the post is made. I have more than 3 wishes for this site LOL.
Brado
some great ideas so far. I think its a good thing to stick to three each too. Quality ideas rather then an overload.
Keep them coming.
I was just thinking of one idea..
I'm not sure how this will come across but I'd really like some more "character" space in the lyrics section.. I enjoy providing them just in case the words aren't very clear but on my last song I kept getting an error message regarding the lyric character limit
Add a "Newest Tracks" and "Newest Loops" section on the home page and in the search results so you don't run into loops you've already seen or used.
Also, make it that you can upload more frequently, every 24 hours is a bit long and I have too many tracks that haven't been uploaded that I want to upload.
Thank You,
PB
@PsychoticBeats - the "newest loops" feature already operates that way. Clicking the "Loops & Samples" tab takes you to the main loop page, where loops are listed in the order in which they were uploaded, starting with the newest at the top and the oldest at the bottom.
I would like to see 'Experimental' as Genre in the category-section on the upload page
It would be nice to be able to provide a longer track description and also be able to provide a link in that description (like we used to be able to do). It's difficult to give credit for acapellas and link back to the acapella when it's not allowed. Also it is difficult to tell folks how we constructed a song, what instruments we used, etc. in 500 characters, haha.
Assuming that Collaborations will be remaining as a forum topic for the foreseeable future how about if it is split into separate categories e.g. seeking singer, seeking producer etc. The reason I'd like this is because I am potentially interested in collaborations, but not with producers who are looking for rappers or producer collective requests which is the overwhelming majority. At the moment I have to keep it turned on and wade through the trash. Please make my Christmas dream come true!
Hmmm....okay... some thoughts:
1). I wish it were *compulsory* for members to type a little something about themselves on their ABOUT ME page. So many members seem ghostly and "absent" to me when this page is left blank.
2). I would love to submit my loops in a slightly higher format, e.g. 48k/24-bit There is a little something lost, I feel, when I bump my loops down to 44.1K/16-bit But I do appreciate that storage is a factor for L'MAN, and there needs to be limits.
3). Regarding the loop deletion process: I wish that, after you've done a loop deletion, you are returned exactly to the spot in your loop page where that loop had existed.
Honorable Mention: I wish that, in the lineup of loop *styles*, the category "Latin" were featured. To house loops done in styles like Bossa-Nova, Conga, Cha-cha-cha, Mambo, Samba, etc. Latin is a real style/category that seasoned musicians really work in and think in... far more important and subsuming than things like, say, "Moombhaton" and "Reggaeton".
But overall, these are just minor suggestions; L'MAN does an excellent job.
2) 'Breakcore' as a genre
utopian thought but wonder: groovy loops back :-)
Danke
-Follow mode
-Show/count whoever just registered to download a track?
More space :)
To add to what ShortBusMusic mentioned, it would be nice to be able to use punctuation in the titles of uploads. All to often I must upload using something which is not the true title of my work.
Since he mentioned links in the description as well... I can't help but wonder why all these soundcloud spam/links etc are allowed in the forums, yet links are removed from the descriptions of tracks and loops.
I agree. No more soundcloud or external music sites links would add great value to this site imho.
1 - I would enjoy something in the forum system that allows me to filter the threads a bit better. In a way i would love to do some collabs but not this rap/hip hop/trap (or maybe rock/metal aso) things. Right now i filter all collabs out and can't see any of the maybe wanted stuff and in the same time i see lots of collab wishes that are not postet in the right threads.
2 - looperman links should be allowed in song description
3 - it should be allowed to write (at least) one own genre tag
