Currently I use fruity loops xxl 7 to make beats and loops basically because it's easy and was free at the time. I want to be able to use virtual instruments and create drums and synth to add to my songs which are mostly guitar and vocals. Is Ableton Live used for these purposes? I've heard many loopers are using Live and are recommending it so I got a copy and want to know what it's capable of pretty much. I don't need it to record my music because I use Sonar 6 already for recording, I just need something that has limitless possibilities in making the drums, synth, bass, etc that I want to add to my music. Any advice anyone? Demolitionkid, I am looking in your direction for ableton help!!!

Go forth and write the pumping sounds that will hit for eternity!

Live has some pretty awesome Midi features in its impulse drum kit. All I can say is dive in and do as much as you can each time you touch it. It seems to bridge the gap between jamming and structuring.

It's built in midi effects racks are ingenius IMHO.
