Lost another great today to cancer. May he rest in peace.
Just woke up to this news. Another shocker !
Far too many great songs to choose from when I just added the video to this thread but as he decided to release this album knowing his time was up i thought it should be BlackStar

A very sad day for music, an exceptional talent gone.
so sad but yet a good life lived. He desired not to spend an ordinary suburban life and reached his dreams - for that I feel happy for him. He looked at many artists of many media types and cultures and used these to influence his art to such a fine outcome. A great voice. RIP
Never forget when I was 6, heard Pin ups and changed everything after...:-)
R.I.P. Hero
Like danke, Pin Ups changed my life, though admittedly more recently. Bowie is one of my all time favorite artist, and one of the most influential on my music in the last few years. It is interesting that he just had his birthday and released his new (last) album. I guess he was holding out to have it finished and now he can rest a while before it all begins again. We'll miss his effect on the world.
After i listen to the news and they said that he is dead i had to sing the whole day - heros - in the german version ......
Thank you for the music David and i hope to sing with you some day in heaven.
One of my musical and creative influences. Quite a shock to get up today and read about his succumbing to cancer. He will be missed. RIP
Bowie resurrected himself on many occasions, such was his strength; a strength born of restlessness and the urge to move on. The most inventive, original and very British of artists, perhaps, since the late 60s....R.I.P.
RIP! He died, but will live forever!
Truly an inspiration , the body may fade , but the voice never will. R.I.P
Goodbye space man, thank you :(
RIP King of the Labrynth. Immortalized through you contributions, sad news to wake up to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViftZTfRSt8
I was 5 years old when Life on Mars came out, and it has lived with me ever since. He was a truly remarkable person and will be sadly missed by all! Gutted!!
Wow, I'm so young, I had no idea who this guy was. :o Where have I been?! Seems a lot of old musical greats are passing on nowadays. A new generation is rising, the old is passing away.
Never knew the guy, but may he rest in peace and his voice lives in the hearts of those who admired him.
RIP Bowie. My favorite Bowie track expresess who he was the best.
"I'm not a prophet
or a stone age man
Just a mortal
with the potential of a superman
I'm living on"
If you've ever seen Flight Of The Conchords, you may have heard their song "Bowies In Space." This video is of the first time they played the song live...

That whole episode of FotC (Called simply "Bowie") is just awesome. Bowie (in many different incarnations) is visiting Bret in his dreams and giving him advice. Super silly.
Wrote some freeform early in the morning to go with a portrait of David Bowie created by Aga. There is a song to compliment these as well, created by Paul_Rhodes18. Here is a link to the Audio Sparks For Art project!

Just woke up the other morning and saw this. May the power of music be with him forever.
Fuck, after all this stuff i listen to and watch because of the dead of Bowie i watched -Christiane F.- and i had to watch me and parts of my life in the early 80's. In a way it was nice to see the Sound and places from the past again but then all the emotions and things came up again and i feelt real bad. But the soundtrack is still one of the greatest for me cause it is in a way the soundtrack of my younger self.
In 85 i wrote a song about this and made much later a new version of it with a little video to it. Maybe nobody get the realtion to Bowie at all but deep inside it is

Although David maybe dead but being a true star, he will never be far away. We know you are out tonight! RIP
Sorry to revive this pardon the irony "Dead" thread, but this unique band, The Flaming Lipps, just released an amazing cover of Space Oddity and an equally compelling video to go along with it.

I realize that this song, released a year ago, was a tribute to him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyO5MRTbL2s
An absolutely beautiful song, the last few seconds really gave me chills, with the choir and strings.
