Greetings to all! I am Joe (Joseph) Funktastic a.k.a. Mr. Funktastic a.k.a. Mr. Funk and I bring to you THE FUNKIEST REMIX COMPETITION EVER on Looperman.com. You might be surprised to find out that many of the electronic genres you listen to like Techno, Trap, Trance, House, Glitch, Hip-Hop and many others trace their early origins and legacy to the Funk music genre.
This Remix competition is like no other before it. First, I am supplying you with everything you need to get going. All genres are included and are only limited by your own imagination. You may add your own effects and supporting loops. The goal is to make a track in your favorite genre...BUT! The essence and the root foundation funk sounds in this Remix stem pack must be audibly visible. So your base sound must be this pack and then add your own influences. You can use my drums or your own drums.
The BPM is 70 and the the Root Key is "A"! I figured this BPM can cover the most genres today. At 70bpms Genres like, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Rock, RnB and Funk might be served and you just might warp up the bpm to 80bpms if you like to cover even more like Fusion. Next, experienced producers can easily change the time signature tempo so that the BPM is 140 (2x70) without any undesirable sound artifacts or chipmunk effects on the song. At 140, you have Dubstep, Trap, Glitch, House, Breakbeat, Trance and many others. You are not limited to the genres I just mentioned. I am attempting to be as flexible as possible so as to encourage greater creativity among you so let's see how that works out!
Rules:
1) Preview the full audio demonstration mix of the mix pack at: https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/163643
2) Download the pack at: http://www.mediafire.com/download/btnuijxhl11j3e7/Funkiest_Song_Competition_on_Looperman_Ever.rar
3) You must use a minimum of 5 loops in the pack but you may also use all of the loops in the pack if you so wish.
4) All songs must be completed and submitted by 28th of February 2015. Why such a long window? The longer window is to accommodate experienced producers, a smaller window might force some to slam things together and that's never good.
5) Please use this forum thread to post your song remixes, questions or concerns. If you do not plan to participate please move along as I wish to preserve this space for participants only.
6) Absolutely no external music site postings please. This is a 100% Looperman.com event. All external links for song entry will be void.
7) You will be judged on the Funkiness of your let's say a dubstep track featured with my stems. So Funk up your wobbles.
8) You will also be judged on your Mix, arrangement and effects. I've heard some truly amazing things from my nearly 1,400 public loops. I heard something from the artist called "FreeRadical" the other day in which he did a Funky Breakbeat track. So yes be imaginative.
9) Finally you will be judged on your Mastering skills but I am willing to relax that requirement just a bit. All I am saying is try to make some effort at making your sound presentable.
All sounds in my stem pack has been produced by me Mr. Funk and is 100% royalty free and can be used for other purposes following the conclusion of this Remix Competition. Good Luck!

For the past week I have had a creative mental block and just cant think of melodys to write. This couldn't have happened at a better time. I'm definitely in on this one !
UPDATED 27 JAN 2015:
Added an updated pack so please download at:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/izou1vfr1wtugcz/UPDATE1_Funkiest_Song_Competition_on_Looperman_Ever.rar
In this update you will find my Schiedmayer Celeste loop. It is not a synthesized version. It's an instrument built from an actual Celeste instrument ribbons with actual key notes. An updated Clav and a 1960s Farfisa Organ.
Updates? Dam man I have this entire song done already! Actually it need tons of tweaking and a full mix down but please no more updates.. lol jk
I've yet to make a splash in the Looperman community. This is not a bad place to start.
I'm in.
Welcome to looperman siknoiz !
Thanks Livingsoulsdie!
It's a pleasure to be here.
Alright, this was the fastest I've ever made a song.
Whether that's good or bad... I don't know.
I used 7 loops from the pack in total.

I make Dubstep usually, so mastering isn't my forte.
I apologize if the drums are a little overpowering.
This is my take on Melodic Funkstep !
:) Enjoy the track. It was really fun to make.

Gud Gawd! Love the creativity here. I want to be careful not to let on to a particular direction or sound, but yes, creativity and uniqueness is the key here.
Love what I heard so far I must say. Please keep the Funk alive! This is truly a challenge for all skilled producers and musicians. Mr. Funk
here you go

I will join the contest just for fun!
Cool! Keep it coming! Going to cut the cutoff time to February 14th. Much respect to the creative minds here who recognized a challenge to create something beyond the typical status quot. A challenge for real producers to work with a real pioneering genre, Funk, and turn it into something unique.
After the 14th of February these stems will come down forever. Show the Looperman community your breakout skillz and get recognized as the most Versatile and Funkiest Innovative producer on looperman.
Mr. Funk!
Since there is no restriction on how many times you can enter, I thought I would cover myself on the modern forms of funkstep, by including this one.

Hey Mr.FUNKTASTIC!!! Great to see you thriving.
Joe I wish I could make music..I know it's a shame I've been on here so long and never make a track. ;p
But I always in enjoy your creative visions, and by extension the great mixes in here too.
Well off to listen to more.
Take care,
AJ
OMG I been out the music for a short time but I downloaded the Loop pack you posted and that Grand Piano calling me need to work with it... To bad my computer for my music broke down.
Hey guys I put together a remix that can be heard here https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/163998 It is an interesting arrangement in a dubstepish type kind of way. Let me know what you thing and ALL HAIL THE FUNK GOD MR. JOE FUNKTASTIC!

Hope you like it.
mr funkastic, I think the updates and 'cut the cutoff time to February 14th' are not quite ok. It's just my personal opinion. I can make a track in 2hrs anyway. But '(..)the longer window is to accommodate experienced producers, a smaller window might force some to slam things together and that's never good', or?
I just listened to all remixes. Nice music.
Again, great idea and I will return with a funky track soon.

Im agree with Promenade, for my work I will need more time :(

Time is an element in the creative process. I love the fast pace rush of making something come alive. I don't need to dwell on something forever. I'm OK with the deadline. or my 2 cents worth.
