Greetings guys, gals and hermaphrodites.
This is a simple, no-prizes competition: What are your favourite tracks on Looperman?
I remember a recent thread about a lack of fun around here so I thought I'd start a very simple competition, of sorts, that should unearth some great pieces of music that lots of people won't have heard.
So, just choose your favourite track, or tracks, on Looperman. I say tracks in the plural because I realise it's hard selecting just one as your favourite - a little like choosing your favourite ever band/album/song. So, I'm nominating a few.
The one and only rule is that you can't choose your own tracks. That would be both a bit contentious and perhaps a little boring after a while.
Feel free to describe why it/they is/are so good and maybe others will go check it/them out and leave some feedback. Please provide track titles, artist names and working links. Don't just post a link with no other comment. Why should anyone click on a random link with no description?
It should also be interesting to see what some users choose as their favourite/s. Maybe a genre you wouldn't expect. For instance, I'm not exactly a hip hop guy but all four of my choices are hip hop-related tracks. Weird, eh?
So, that's about it. Here are mine:
-
1. Let Me Put My Penis In Your Vagina by ade1980
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/148650
Possibly the best comedy song I've heard in the last few years. Very funny, clever and outrageous and in one spoken word section he even sounds quite a lot like me.
2. The Love Alchemist by PaNeGyRiZe
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/156981
Very cool sort of slacker hip hop but with a proper catchy song and killer groove. Just great fun.
3. After Midnight by Pillow
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/151763
Cool groove instrumental hip hop with jazzy elements that has, so far, only been commented upon (3 times) by me, despite 137 plays. Brilliant, compelling stuff that I'd love to make.
4. Leagues Vs Broadcast by Leagues
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/71439
Fat beat dreamy trip hop reminiscent of some of DJ Shadow's best stuff. Also featuring some beautiful female vocals.
-
Minor apologies to people whose tracks I have liked but haven't chosen. 20 links and descriptions would be overdoing it. I'd suggest not choosing any more than 5 but feel free to ignore that if you like.
That's some interesting question... ok, here's my choice:
'Coffee at Angeliques' by Drvan Lansberg
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/160766
'Peace' by EazyBeatz
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/158696
'New Years Eve Mastered' by aelmen
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/151267
It's simply because I was able to do something with them (except EazyBeatz song) and found them inspiring.
Anyway there's a great amount of undiscovered music on this site for sure so it is still very relative and just a temporary personal preference.
I couldn't pick any particular of your tracks StaticNomad, because I love all of them LOL!
ahh.. I love this one (4 out of 5 tracqcks left lol):
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/159691
this is on my soundcloud only but soundcloud is not accepted on looperman anymore and I do not know why. Why? Just a thought.
Woot! Was very excited when i recieved the email today from StaticNomad! Thank you for choosing my track as one of your favorites! and loving the comments im receiving on it! from some very great artist too, that warms my heart inside for real... I love these forum competitions! just plain awesome fun! Lets do it people!!

As StaticNomad posted above, this is my entry!
The Love Alchemist!

Promenade:
Thanks for posting
'Coffee at Angeliques' by Drvan Lansberg
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/160766
That's a brilliant piece of music, which I'll be commenting on soon. Finding tracks like that is exactly the reason I started this thread. To shed some light on perhaps some not so well known tracks and artists.
They can, of course, be well known on here. Anything goes! Just your honest favourites, that's all.
"I couldn't pick any particular of your tracks StaticNomad, because I love all of them LOL!"
Hey, that's no reason for not choosing at least 5 of them!
PaNeGyRiZe:
Damn, bro - you've gone and broken the one and only rule in this non-competition:
Don't Post Your Own Tracks!
Hell, I already did it for you.
Remember - it's not a real competition, just a way to have a bit of fun and celebrate whatever people choose as the best stuff on Looperman.
Should be loads more great tracks to come. Will be interesting to see if many people choose the same ones.
This thread should really run forever though I'm sure it'll die off in a few days....
Another track from Leagues
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/156626
Artist named Garoad
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/67709
I actually got into some of his work on youtube and I told him about this site. He still makes alot of music, look em up.
Johnny Hunter
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/86794
One of my fav piano pieces on this site
Gramo:
Thanks for contributing. I thought your choices would be darker, more badass, aggressive type of stuff more like your own music.
I wasn't so keen on your Leagues track, much preferred my choice. But the piano piece was excellent. Thanks for sharing something unusual for The Loop - that's partly what this is about.
I have a theory that not many favourite tracks will be from regular users but we'll see about that. I could be very wrong. So far, I think that's about right.
Well that's a hard one, there are so many great artists here, but if I have to name someone I do particularly like Psychotropic_circle's work every track he's done I like...alas he is no longer active https://www.looperman.com/users/tracks/71878
Scars - The Vice-- This track is probably my favorite.
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/157005
Zappo - Old Bitches-- Funky with some really tasty instrument usage,...and the bassline is most acceptable!
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/150072
SpellJammer - No Clothes-- Oh hell, anyone listening to this track had better be prepared for a song about the beast with two backs. This song gets stuck in my head at work and it's not the best thing to sing to yourself around a bunch of construction workers.

Planetjazz:
Hello. You've slightly trangressed in a way that I hadn't considered. You've chosen a favourite artist rather than picking top tracks. The reason I decided to go with top tracks is that hopefully then people provide links that can just be clicked, with audio joy on the end of them. Rather than having to go through someone's profile in a slightly random way.
How about you choose your top 5 Psychotropic Circle tracks?
But would those really be your 5 favourite Looperman tracks?
I'm not being picky, I'm just curious. The main point of this is to highlight some great music. In, a lot of cases, it may well be tracks people aren't familiar with. It's also fun to see what people choose based on the music they make.
I certainly wasn't expecting you to choose 5 hip hop tracks. For real, bro.
Evisma:
I was curious what you'd choose. Dubstep, techno and similar were guaranteed non-choices.
So, three good tracks. The first two I didn't know. Third I reviewed twice but had completely forgotten about.
I thought you might pick three rock tracks but you've gone for a broader range. R'n'b was a surprise!
Yet you didn't choose any of my nice tracks, bro. I shall have to try harder to please. Perhaps I shall construct a merger of your chosen three. That's got to work, right?
Crucethus - Exploitation Blues-- This really must be added. This was the Crucethus track that made me a fan, and it's my favorite from him. Also just a fan of his personality and creative presence on this site.
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/150369
"Yet you didn't choose any of my nice tracks, bro."
I could say the same back to ya, bro. We dig each other's stuff, but other artist's tracks spoke to our different ear-tastebuds.
Cestevens has a track on here called "How Could You, How Could I" that used to have vocals. Excellent vocals. It's instrumental now and I don't know why. I did not want to link the sung version on soundcloud even though it is very good.
Evisma:
"Yet you didn't choose any of my nice tracks, bro."
I could say the same back to ya, bro. "
You could and you have and that is not a problem. In making my choices, I decided not to go with people I like, such as yourself, just purely the tracks that really stood out as enjoyable from start to finish when checking through my favourites.
I'll have you know I strongly considered your nice track Cryptic Council, bro. So, here it is, as an honourable mention:
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/151324
I also have at least two of your others as favourites eg Jason Only Gets Two Hits. Maybe they don't stand out to me so much because I know your stuff too well.
Ok (though I do like all his tracks) "A Camel on Dope"
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/5221#comments
PlanetJazz:
That'a good piece of music you have chosen. Just the sort of style I'd expect you to go for. Not that I'm saying you have to surprise me (not at all).
And another with very few comments (6).
So far this thread looks like people choosing their favourite obscure tracks. I'm not sure what that means. Maybe that some of the best stuff on here is by people who rarely use the site so therefore don't get many plays or comments.
In other words: there are real gems tucked away on here. Along with all the real stinkers tucked away never to be played....
@ Static ha it would be dark, as I do like dark compositions. How about this one
Alen9R
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/141268
Desperately, DESPERATELY need him back doing some dnb on here. If i remember correctly actually..he's one of the first artists on here that got me into dnb. Besides another one named Dv8.
Another track I didn't think was still on here
From Rakia, nice eastern type of piece
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/62919
Another piano piece. No, THE BEST PIANO PIECE (with strings) ON THIS SITE.
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/55566
And he's from where I'm from. Go figure. (I'm from Milwaukee not Chicago, I live in Chicago currently)
This one is from an artist named Weqwer
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/43712
Reminds me of the silent hill soundtracks. Very dark and gloomy. A lil depressing.
And I like many types of music. Probably all, I like to keep a balanced ear to all the unheard talent crying out to be heard. Hoping and waiting or creating in silence.
Gramo:
Yeah, that d'nb track is badass. Just the kind of thing I'd expect you to go for. I've already left him a comment and a favourite.
The Eastern track is pretty cool.
The piano piece is also good and I like the title. The only jarring thing about it, for me, is the fake sound of those strings. Shame as they could be replaced with better string samples.
P.S. I was in Chicago for three days last year on my way to Memphis for two days and finally New Orleans for 6 days. Actually was a package music holiday (coming from UK) so blues clubs in Chicago, blues/rock in Memphis (Beale Street) and jazz, of course, in NO, including a (wet) jazz festival.
I went on the river in the Windy City and managed to get out of the city on the Amtrak without getting shot. Pretty good, eh? Didn't get shot at even once in 11 days in the US.
Okay I'll throw a couple into the mix. Be careful a couple of them are adult content (without the indication).
Benjizo is totally one of the best hip hop artists that I've found, and this song really does it for me!

My favorite track of BeyonceMonroe, "I'm Not Ugly" is no longer here on looperman, but these two are both sweet as hell;
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/143345
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/144535
Not professional in any way, but they both speak to me, and no one else makes music like this.

mrwolf14 always does some amazing stuff, but this one has to be one of my favorites!
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/155585

An oldie, but a goodie here... another of my favorite hip hop/rap sort of tracks. The hook has healed me so many times in the last year.
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/5690

Well, I'll leave it at that. A lot of my favorite artists have moved on to soundcloud unfortunately. That's how it goes.
Yo Spiv: thought you might eventually join the Looperman Best Track party.
I was expecting you to choose some weird, lo-fi sort of stuff and those BeyonceMonroe ones definitely qualify.
One cool thing about the Im Not Stupid track is the clear Highway Chile by Jimi Hendrix sample at 2:05. Interesting that I so clearly recognise a single note sample. I'm damn sure thats where it's from.
The MrWolf14 track was a surprise choice for you (for me).
The korner Stuck In A Dream track is quite a sweet little number. Shame about the abrupt, chopped off end!
Thanks for your entries.
More people need to contribute to this as it's a great way of finding interesting pieces of music.
Heh, yeah, I think you're right about the guitar one-shot there. I always thought it was from that recording as well. BeyonceMonroe is one of the most underrated composers on the loop to my ears.
mrwolf is just so talented and powerful as a songwriter!
That is the only problem with "Stuck In A Dream," it almost seems to be a work in progress that never progressed.
Oh well... interesting thread!
@ Static I like the sound of the strings somewhat in Marius track. They could be better but the piano alone steals the show for me.
@ Spiv I like the Benjizo track you left a link too, nice.
Also Static I hope you don't think the majority of the US is violent or presents probabilities to get shot. Danger is everywhere and some people are good and just want to live about their daily lives.
I look it at like this, people are split into a couple groups. (At least here) The provokers that try to sway people on a good path to a bad one. The instigators that try to involve themselves in the wrong situations. The peacemakers that just want to live their lives. And then the evil people of this world that only want to see the world burn, I try to avoid them...
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/140189 Just amazing piece here :D
In no particular order.
1) "Woodoo Child" by Nightingale
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/161415
This is what would have happened if Lux Interior had been the front man for Ween. It's a hypnotic groove dripping with sexy surrealism.
2) "Crazy" by Joecramer.
https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/159383
This is a tense, gritty little number with a neat plot twist. Considered by some to be too repetitive. I think it adds to the intensity of the subject.
3) "Null Infinity" by Neomorpheus.
Not a lot of people are into the metal scene. At least, not on Looperman. I am. I've listened to metal for so long that it's no longer music to me, but part of my DNA. Most of the time when people list their track under the "Metal" genre, I pretty much count on it being more like hard rock, or just really bad. This beast knocked my d*ck in the dirt right out of the gate. On the grand scheme of things, this track still needs some work to fully run with the big boys, but considering the style of metal it is, and the method in which it was created, This summbitch is excellent work.
There are a few tracks that I had fav'd but are no longer here. Which is a shame, because I really liked them. But, I kinda did the same thing with my tracks, so I can't really complain, right?
Take care.
V.
