beat?
what is beat?
well @ decnet you must be in nirvana listening to my music (and I use the term loosely)
Vig aka vic
Well. I'm sorry if some of you have an apathetic attitude towards making useful loops for others by putting them in beat. God forbid you try to even manage to let a computer program keep you in time. I simply gave very helpful instructions on how to manage staying on beat for even a complete novice using Audacity as their platform. And, really? Don't try to play it off like I'm being out of line for asking that as a 'musician' you try to not be sloppy. If it's not in beat. It's not in beat. Fix it. And, don't act like a child when someone with experience tries to help you. I play an actual instrument, I improvise 90% of my tracks on the spot, and my stuff is still on time, and has more musical taste than the loops some of you string together and call a 'song'. I'm just saying. If you can't take constructive criticism, you should probably not post your tracks or loops on here. Welcome to judgement day. Keep the whining to a minimum. Thanks.
#feelings.
While I agree that being off beat has no excuse, this would be better off being posted in the rants and raves.
Stress...oftentimes difficult to focus.
I agree with this, any pella I've downloaded needed serious warping or stretching and at that the verses are jumbled and not kept at the same pace so it messes up the beat or groove so I've just stopped looking at pella's here it's so much hard work. I downloaded the pella for Tim Bergs Seeking Bromance and it was 100% perfect fit I wish all of them here were like that.
There are ways of making a song sound unpredictable without it being off beat and that can be done through timing. 4/4 timing is usually very predictable so it's always ok to stray from that. But we are not talking about how predictable a song is, we're talking about it being off-beat. Being off-beat is like writing a speech without punctuation. It's just sloppy and is difficult to follow.
Sorry, the above comment was in response to Decnet's comment so it's irrelevant by now. My internet shut off and when it re-connected 8 hours later it posted the comment. =(
About acappelas you have to understand that a lot of them are recorded either without a click or to a different song and you will have to build the song around them. Of course some will require edits but at the end of the day you'll have a singer in your track.
As for loops a lot of people actually bounce their loops with effects on them and sometimes it can throw them off time (especially reverb) however a couple of edits will throw it back on beat.
About going of beat, I don't think the subject here is "groove","time signature" or "swing" but rather off beat performance with no musicality involved. Timing is essential in any piece of music so staying on beat is obviously necessary but to be perfectly honest out of the multitude of loops uploaded you will surely find a replacement...it's not like all the loops are off.
