I am basically asking the entire community "who do you really admire on the drums?"

I listen to a lot of music, but I do want to get some varied opinions.

Some random ones from me off the top of my head,
Zach Hill from Team Sleep and Hella
    (master of paradiddle)
Clyde Stubblefield who invented hip-hop with James Brown

Obvious ones come to mind yes.. Danney Carey from Tool (master of odd-times) along with Neil Pert (Ambidextrous Diety) from Rush..
John Bonham, breaking drums and a master of triplettes.

Anyhow, just wanna learn some stuff, or jive on the percussive instrument.

(Definitely looking forward to n0mad23's input as well)

Buddy Rich.... He's the reason I started with drums. The man was incredible. There are some vids of him on youtube, but seriously....... The man was a drum GOD.

After him, he's a great drummer but he's also a friend who lives just down the road, and his kit is a work of art, John Booth from Sweeny Todd.

John Bonham was great, very, very true. That brings to mind other great contemporaries such as Keith Moon, a most tragic loss, and Jaki Leibezeit. There are so many greats.

    Awesome idea for a thread

Simmer yeah burning spear is a fantastic band all around. But you are thinking of their front man Winston Rodney who does the crazy conga solos, right?
And within that same realm Sly Dunbar of Sly n Robbie fame and also Leroy "Hoursemouth" Wallace originators of stepper style riddims.
