Encyclopedia Galactica by Kper

Kper
Title Encyclopedia Galactica
Artist Kper
Added Mon 24th Aug 2009
Genre Metal

Description
Metal track with symphonic emphasis. Continuation of Asimov's Foundation series. Part III: Under the close supervision of Gaal Dornick in the primitive shelters just constructed on the planet Terminus, the psychohistorians begin frantic work on Hari Seldon's pet project that had begun before they were banished from Trantor- the Encyclopedia Galactica. As they worked desperately to collect the wisdom of the Galactic Empire before its predicted collapse, every scholar on Terminus knew that each entry had the hope of shortening the Dark Ages that would follow. It was with this vision of hope for future humankind that each psychohistorian worked on Seldon's masterpiece. Constructed from Acid Music Studio with some loops from this site.

bcway This is a rare piece, what I mean by that is that it is rare indeed to hear a good marriage between classical and metal - this is one of the best if not the best that I have come across.

All hail Asimov ! I Robot was the first I read in the early seventies - big fan of his - he has also written serious scientific books.

Anyhow, excellant piece - downloaded - thank you

Gizella I like the sound of the angry guitars and the dark strings on this a cross between metal and classical which as a piece is clever cos it blends so well. Definately film soundtrack or documentary music. l I like the soft and hard contrasts in the track that make it interesting and I can appreciate the clever blend of production skills here. Some of the strings have real warmth conjuring images of centuries past :-)

Kper's Reply
Thanks, Gizella. I like to keep my tracks interesting and to create a mental picture for me to escape into. Knowing others can escape into them too is a positive feeling for me. Thank you for your in-depth review and for your time writing it. Kper

digitalenigma0 Nice track here, I love symphonic metal blends, the kick drum sound is worth noting as a great sounding kick!
Also the synths melodys are good on this espeically with the effects used as tastfullyas they were!

Kper's Reply
Thanks for the review, digitalenigma0. I struggle with staying tasteful with all this and not crossing into being too cheesy and nerdy. So your feedback is reassuring on something I've felt insecure about. I have Sony's Ultimate Metal Construction Kit to help me with those drums. Thanks for taking the time to review. Kper

mojeve very well put together. great job i enjoyed the integration of metal and symphony. Excellent work. mojeve@yahoo.com

Kper's Reply
Thanks, mojeve. Trying out new combinations of metal with other sounds is a great mental exercise for me (and I need a lot of mental exercise to eliminate my mental flabbiness :-)
Thanks for taking the time to review. Kper

cotton_productions You got it and i added it to my favs the second i heard it, i would give you advice but i find this track untouchable it has the orchestral softness with heavy thrashing metal not many can pull this off and im a fan of metal but i have to say i do admire this track it was jaw dropping how you fused this together and all i can say is wow.

Keep it up Kper cause this fan is behind you all the way.
AMAZING WORK!

Thanks for taking the time to listen and for your encouraging words. It's kind words like yours that keep me going. I do it for the catharsis but when others speak positively about the music, it makes it all the better. Kper

KDLproject HELL YES. Love it. great metal/orchestral blend here - nice hints of electronic as well. This one jams. Production and mix sounds really great through my headphones. Great arrangement and something to look out for around every corer, the breaks and change ups. Masterful. Did you jam all the guitar yourself? Amazing track my looperfriend. Amazing. and faved. peace.

Kper's Reply
Thanks for the enthusiastic review. Reviews like that give me energy to keep going. I wish I could say I did the guitars myself but . . . Sony's Ultimate Metal Construction Kit is where I get my guitar and drum loops. What makes this all fun is I never quite knows what's around the corner as I write the song and so it is always a surprise to me at the end. Thanks again for taking the time to review. Kper

jfw Interesting space rock piece. I think some operatic loop voice overs would work well with this - nice work.

Kper's Reply
Thanks for the review, jfw. I'm with you on the operatic voice loops. Do you have any ideas of where I can get my hands on some good classical voice loops? I have been looking but have not had much luck. Thanks again. Kper

Zikanis voices are immensely awesome and the violins add a new layer to it which i rly like =]. nice track!

Kper's Reply
Thanks for the review, Zikanis. With each new song I do, I like to try to emphasize a sound that I want to get better at using in the future so I worked on integrating the strings into the song. I appreciate your feedback. Kper

BigPete I will echo previous reviews, I always said that Metal when arrange like this is like classical music to me, the Wagner type, very goth dramatic, love the arrangment and structure of the track, very soundtrack like, great ride. Great production.

Kper's Reply
Sorry for the delayed response. Thanks for the review. I grew up on classical music and "rebelled" against my parents by getting into metal. I too think that perhaps if he had been born later, Wagner might have been a guitarist in a metal band somewhere. I agree that the two genres seem to compliment each other. I enoy the genre bending that you and others do- it is intellectually and emotionally intriguing. Thanks again for the review. Kper

naturatech asimov rules, my favorite writter ever :)

I like the electronic sounds you use in some part of the song, makes it more interesting and "spacial"

Kper's Reply
Thanks naturatech! It blows me away just thinking of how Asimov came up with his concepts in all of his stories- he shaped not only sci fi but also everyday vocabulary and thinking. Being sci fi, it allows me to use those space sounds which adds to what can be done creatively. Thanks for the listen and for the review. Kper
