I'm a self-taught, left-handed/right-brained artsy kinda guy. Music has saved my life more than once and has, more or less, kept me out of trouble. My heart & soul, from the start, absorbs the language of music from all over the world. Any song or instrumental composition that has deep sorrow, rhythmic joy, compounded grief, beautiful anger or other powerful emotions get under my skin and make me more human.

The one-string, one-of-a-kind, washtub-like "street-bass". Various flutes. A mini acoustic drum-kit; the 20-string, acoustic/electric, one-of-kind, "fire-harp"; and a 1938 lap-steel guitar. Voice.

Presently I listen almost exclusively to Mid-Eastern music from you-name-the-country. I especially like woman singers like Warda and Fairouz.

Scriabin's "Poem of Ecstasy", Jimi Hendrix's first album; Joni Mitchell's "Song to a Seagull", Yardbird albums and early Blues Breaker's with John Mayall; Sargent Pepper, and lots of Bob Dylan, Donovan, Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck etc.

My fiddle-playin' father, in one song, would drift from blue-grass, to swing, to classical, to gypsy. He was a great entertainer, story-teller and comedian. My uncle played with him for 52 years and sometimes my grandma played the piano.
When I was an impressionable pre-teen I soaked up classical, country blues, be-bop jazz, and music from 'round the word by listening to hundreds of albums from local libraries and close friends.

It's too mixed up to categorize.
