Musically I'm interested in psycho-acoustic phenomena - hidden melodies, visual hallucinations, etc., but in conjunction with the emotional effects that music causes. I mean, hey aren't there traditions about this stuff going back to the dawn?

Started a few months ago playing with Audacity, Psycle, I AM THE MIGHTY JUNGULATOR, Livid Looper, and trakAxPC - now the 2009 Jungulator (yes! I tracked down the programmer) and Lloopp (a copyleft program). All free or donationware. Found myself happily lost in the Max MSP runtime environment.

Now I'm doing less of the above and learning Ableton Live 7 LE. After exploring the above, I'm finding Live to be a somewhat familiar ground. It's amazing what's possible in 2009 that wasn't even 4 or 5 years ago.
